Chapter 536 Never Left The Country

Roland rubbed the space between his eyebrows, looking a little upset.
In the end, he decided to compromise for the time being.
After all, the reason why he wanted to announce the relationship between the two was to protect Sophia, but if this would hurt Sophia's self-esteem, he would rather leave it aside for the time being. After all, time would tell that Roland didn't care where she came from and she would understand that they were together because he liked her. As for his family...
Roland wasn't worried. His grandparents would definitely like Sophia. As for his parents, he already knew what to tell them.
Thinking of this, he said, "Well, you sit for a while. Tell the waiter if you need anything. I'll be back soon."
Sophia smiled and nodded.
After Roland left, Sophia sat alone on a bench. She felt really comfortable and relaxing when the cool night breeze caressed her.
Behind her, a cry of surprise could be heart. "Sophia?"
When Sophia turned around, she saw Lynn standing in front of a tree and looking at her in surprise. She was wearing a light yellow maxi dress.
Sophia was a little surprised as well. He stood up from the bench and asked, "Lynn?"
"So it's really you. I thought I have mistaken someone else for you."
Lynn came over and sized Sophia up. She could tell at a glance that the maxi dress Sophia was wearing was the masterpiece designed by the famous stylist Curtis, coupled with the delicate makeup and expensive jewelry tonight. She couldn't help but be jealous.
The rest might not know about the relationship between Curtis and Roland, but being a senior perfumer for G.K., she had heard of him before. It was said that Curtis was born in a rich and powerful family. He didn't like to be controlled by his family, plus, he loved styling, so he had opened a salon on his own.
Curtis, Roland, and Marty had been hanging out with each other since they were kids. They were sworn brothers. Since Roland had asked for his help to style Sophia, she must have a special place in his heart.
Lynn was surprised by Sophia's transition after a trip abroad. She couldn't believe that she could be someone like Roland!
Lynn automatically categorized the relationship between Sophia and Roland as that of a mistress and a benefactor. Although she felt a little disdainful, she did not show it on her face.
She smiled weakly, pulling Sophia to sit down on a bench. "Sophia, I thought you're abroad? Why are you back?"
Sophia didn't want to tell her that Collin asked her to come back to attend the wedding, so she made up an excuse, "I'm not used to it, so I came back."
"You're right. You've never left the country since you were a child. Of course, you're not used to it."
Lynn sounded arrogant despite the smile on her face.
Sophia understood where it came from and smiled. She didn't say anything.
Although they were cousins, the eldest son of the Buick family had been working hard since he was young. Later, he became the founder of the Archean Group, a clothing-retail company. Therefore, their status was much higher than that of Sophia's family. In addition, Lynn was sent abroad at the age of five for studies until last year. Hence, they rarely saw each other.
Lynn suddenly sighed, "Come to think of it, if it weren't for that incident two years ago, you wouldn't have to go abroad either."
Sophia's eyes darkened as she lowered her head slightly.
The incident two years ago was a dirt from her past that she would never be able to erase in the rest of her life.
Although she repeatedly told herself not to think about it and not to care about it, she still couldn't help but feel sad when she heard those awful words from other people's mouths since her return to Flaucford.
This was also the reason why she was so nervous tonight.
Even a taxi driver could remember the news from two years ago. What if Roland's family could recognize her?
Sophia really didn't know how to explain it when that happened. What would Roland think of her?
Seeing the look on her face, Lynn asked with concern, "Sophia, are you all right?"
Sophia shook her head and said, "I'm fine."
"I'm glad to hear that." Lynn changed the subject. "By the way, I'm here with my superior today. Who did you come here with?"
Sophia hesitated for a second, but she subconsciously didn't mention Roland.
"A friend."
"A friend?"
Lynn obviously didn't believe it. Humph! With Roland's status, how could he be friends with her?
Besides, he was holding her in her arms just now. The two of them seemed really intimate!
But she did not say that out loud. She just smiled and said, "Well, your friend must be a person of high social standing."
Sophia forced a smile and replied, "Sort of!"
For some reason, Lynn had always been indifferent to her on their previous encounters. Today, however, she was like a chatterbox. Sophia couldn't help but feel a bit awkward.
After chatting for a while, Lynn was the one who did most of the talking whereas Sophia listened. Occasionally, she would reply to her perfunctorily.
Until Lynn suddenly looked at the near distance, she smiled and said, "By the way, Joel and Bell are also here. Do you want to go over and say hello to them?"
What?
"Bell and Joel are here, too?" Sofia thought to herself.
Before Sophia could react, Lynn had already stood up and waved at a group of people standing not far away.
The group of people were talking and laughing with glasses of wine in their hands. They looked like they were having a nice chat.
Lynn waved her hand and someone immediately noticed and turned around. As expected, Sophia saw Bell in a pink dress and Joel in a black suit.
The two of them were newlyweds and seemed to have a very good relationship. Bell took Joel's arm. Both of them looked gorgeous and seemed perfect for each other.
When they saw Lynn, the two of them walked towards her.
"Lynn, thank you for bringing me and Joel here. It's really fun here. Besides, I just saw the eldest son of the Blaine Group and the Chairman of the Haltz Group."
Bell was very excited and kept on talking as soon as she saw Lynn before she realized Lynn had tipped her the wink.
She immediately noticed the girl sitting on the bench under the shade of the tree.
"Sophia?"
Bell could believe her eyes. All of a sudden, she showed a puzzled expression. "Why are you here?"
Sophia calmly stood up and asked in reply, "Why can't I be here?"
"You're here too. Why can't I come here?" Sofia thought to herself.
For a moment, Bell was at a loss for words. She didn't expect that she would say something like this. In the past, when Sophia encountered such a situation, she would explain to her immediately and left obediently after being humiliated by her?
She suddenly thought of the marriage certificate. Could it be the reason why Sophia dared to confront her now?
Thinking of this, Bell's eyes lit up as an idea popped up in her mind.
She sneered and said, "Of course you can. You're Mr. Blaine's woman after all."
Mr. Blaine?
When everyone heard that, they couldn't help but look surprised. Judging from her tone of speaking and the fact that she was able to come here, they couldn't have heard it wrongly.
The surrounding guests' attention was all drawn over upon hearing those words. Sophia frowned slightly as she had a bad feeling in her heart.
