Chapter 901 Childhood Sweetheart
After all, this was an important matter that could not be resolved quickly.
Later, Anderson said, "Alright. Let me think about it. I'll get back to you later."
Jara didn't seem to expect Anderson to be able to make a decision so soon.
As a result, he nodded and stated, "I've arranged a room upstairs for you two. You can have a rest after dinner. Let me know if you need any assistance."
"Although we have a lot of grievances previously," he said after a brief pause, "please consider it carefully this time for the sake that I saved Clarissa a few times."
Hearing this, Anderson gave Jara a glace.
There were way too many emotions in that glance.
Eventually, they both averted their sight, and Anderson muttered, "Okay."
Later, Anderson and Clarissa went upstairs together.
Of course, they were going to have dinner in the castle as well.
Jara ordered that a variety of delicious meals be served to entertain them. He had also opened two bottles of fine wine.
At the dinner table, he also did his best as a host, conversing happily with them.
However, Clarissa could tell he was unhappy. In fact, he was distressed.
For some reason, she felt a little hesitant when Jara asked her and Anderson to come over to deal with the Icarus Association together.
After all, this wasn't a life or death situation, but the tone on the phone when he called him previously seemed to be.
He had to be hiding something from them!!
As soon as this idea came to her, she couldn't help thinking about it.
Therefore, after dinner, Clarissa declined his offer to go for a walk after dinner. Instead, she went back to her room to rest with Anderson.
"I feel something is wrong," Clarissa stated as they entered the room.
"What do you mean?" Anderson regarded her with a laid-back demeanor.
"Jara is hiding something from us," Clarissa frowned and murmured.
Upon hearing this, Anderson smiled faintly.
Stretching out his hand, he lovingly caressed her slightly messy hair. "Tell me about it."
Clarissa didn't notice his eyes. She frowned and explained, "I've always felt that he didn't tell us the truth. Think about it. It's been four years since Icarus Association started a conflict between Lost Vanguard and Salvation Club. Although the Icarus Association had done a lot over this time, Jara shouldn't be so eager to deal with them now."
"After all, these two parties have been at odds for a long time. They can keep fighting."
"But now, he's so eager to decide a win or a loss. He doesn't seem to want to get rid of the Icarus Association right away. What could be the other reason?"
Listening to her words, Anderson smiled faintly.
"You must have misheard something."
"What?" Clarissa was a little confused.
"He mentioned that Emmeline was caught," he added.
Staring at him, Clarissa blinked her eyes.
She didn't know Emmeline. She had never seen or heard of Emmeline, even when she was still in Lost Vanguard.
As a result, when he addressed it just now, she merely thought of the other party as a minor person.
After all, Jara had never brought it up again.
But after hearing Anderson's words, what was their relationship?
With a smile, Anderson looked into her eyes and continued, "Emmeline is Jara's childhood sweetheart. They've grown up together."
Clarissa gave a violent shudder.
She'd be lying if she said she wasn't surprised.
Jara's nature had always been unpredictable, making it difficult for others to get close to him in the past.
It was only now that she knew that he had a childhood sweetheart.
"Is that why he's so eager to deal with the Icarus Association because he wants to save his childhood sweetheart?" she wondered.
Jara nodded his head, "Yes, it should be."
Clarissa burst into laughter.
"I didn't expect him to be a spoony."
At the same time, she felt relieved in her heart.
She always felt that Jara's attitude toward her was a little unusual as if they were in some kind of an ambiguous relationship.
She wasn't sure if she had previously overthought. If she was to take it as if he had a crush on her, it didn't seem right. After all, he swerved away from her every time she came close.
But as soon as she let her guard down, he would approach her again.
That was why she rejected him so much.
Now, it turned out that she had thought too much.
Well, it was good that he had a childhood sweetheart.
Thinking of this, Clarissa couldn't help but smile.
"So, what do you think? Is this workable?"
Anderson went silent for a while.
Then, he replied flatly, "Well, we share a common lot. Although our families have been at odds, they are still part of the four families. If the Icarus Association really takes over their position and enters our country, they will almost probably not cause any major disruptions in a short period of time."
"But they have the support of foreign forces, so it's easy for them to develop. I'm afraid that even the Jordan Family will be unable to deal with them in the future."
In fact, Clarissa thought the same.
"So, do we agree with him?" she questioned, nodding.
Anderson nodded.
"But I have a feeling that something is wrong with this case."
"What do you mean?"
Clarissa pondered, "Think about it. They were all vicious killers when they came to kill me. They even dared to do something to the plane. Is there anything else that they can't do?"
"They've decided to murder me and take my life. But this time, they only caught Emmeline. Don't you think it's weird?"
Upon hearing this, Anderson frowned.
He, too, sensed something wasn't quite right after Clarissa mentioned it.
However, no matter what they tried, they couldn't find an answer now.
Therefore, he just answered, "We'll get back to this later. For the time being, I think we can agree with him, even if it is just a try."
Clarissa agreed with a nod.
"Alright, then let's go down and talk to him later."
"Sure."
After a short discussion, they headed downstairs together.
They happened to see Jara playing with his dogs in the yard when they went downstairs.
It was already late at night.
The lights on the castle lit up, illuminating the surroundings.
Two big dogs were sprinting across the yard, picking up the frisbee that Jara had thrown repeatedly."
With a smile, Clarissa said, "You seem to be in a good mood. Did you raise these dogs?"
Upon seeing them, Jara paused and gave an order to the servant beside him. He then handed the frisbee to the servant, who was then free to play with the dogs.
