Chapter 972 Mother and Daughter Reunite
Clarissa didn't say her thoughts out loud.
After all, she was not familiar with Mr. Jenkins, and she did not know what kind of person he was.
Besides, she couldn't rely on Chantel's information because Chantel couldn't even tell if the people she knew were good or bad.
Thinking of this, Clarissa replied, "Since this jade pendant belongs to her, please arrange a meeting for us so that I can personally return it to her."
Mr. Jenkins nodded.
Although he felt that Clarissa was a bit strange, he didn't think much about it.
Instantaneously, he called Sierra to explain this matter.
On the other side, when Sierra just arrived home, she received Mr. Jenkins' call.
Knowing that he had found the jade pendant, she was pleasantly surprised.
"Really? That's fast!"
"Yes. She is now in the reception room, waiting to pass the pendant to you personally. So, you may come over with Robert now."
Excited, Sierra nodded profusely. "Sure, I'll be right there."
She happily hung up the phone, whereas Robert felt that something was iffy.
"That's quick, Sierra. I guess Miss Jordan has telepathy with us. She knows that we caught her from the surveillance camera, so she is here to return it."
After hearing that, Sierra shot a glare at him.
"You shouldn't judge her that way. Maybe she has always wanted to return it to us, but she needed to deal with something urgent at that time, and she didn't felt safe handing it over to the owner of the venue, so she personally brings it here when she is free today. We should be kind and positively look at things."
Here was one thing that Robert felt helpless about her.
She was too kind and optimistic.
No matter how many times she had experienced injustice, she would always think of the other party as a good person and never judged him or her with malice.
To put it politely, she was innocent, but to put it less pleasantly, she was foolish.
Alas, what could he do about it?
Her weakness was what made him loved her.
In fact, he had a simple personality. Over the years, he had devoted himself to the study of medicine, and he hated complicated human relationships. All he hoped was to live a simplistic life with the people around him.
And Sierra was the most simple-minded person he had ever met in this world.
Having no choice, Robert brought her out.
Soon, the two of them arrived at the venue.
Outside the reception room, they could hear a woman cackling inside.
"Oh, Mr. Jenkins! We do have a mutual affinity. To do business in Ascijan, you need our family's support, or else, it will be difficult. With our support, you can have the world at your feet."
Upon hearing Chantel's voice, Sierra curved her lips into a smile. Then, she raised her head and said to Robert, "It's Miss Jordan."
To that, Robert nodded. He pushed the door open, and the two of them walked in together.
On the other hand, Clarissa was sitting there, having her coffee and listening to Chantel's boastful words.
In fact, Chantel was not a bad person. On the contrary, she was quite simple-minded.
Other than being a little greedy, overambitious, and selfish, she was fine.
Moreover, she didn't have the guts to throw someone under the bus.
Even so, if someone framed the person she hated, and she had the chance to add fuel to the fire, she would add gallons of fuel.
It was so that the person she hated would have a miserable ending.
Hence, after living with Chantel for years, Clarrisa had finally understood that she couldn't be purely described as good or evil.
On the surface, she seemed threatening, but actually, she was fearful and anxious on the inside.
While Clarissa was drinking coffee, she saw a person entering from the corner of her eyes.
Then, she took a quick sip and put the cup down.
Nevertheless, as soon as she looked up, she froze.
On the other hand, Chantel stood up.
"Hey, Miss Campos and Dr. Lane. Come and have a seat. Mr. Jenkins and I are having a great chat!"
Hearing that, Sierra and Robert walked over and sat down on the sofa opposite them.
"Nice to meet you again, Miss Jordan. I heard you've found my jade pendant," Sierra chuckled.
With a smile, Chantel nodded. "Yes! You should be more careful next time. What if someone else picks it up? They might not return it to you!"
"You're right, Miss Jordan. Thank you very much," Sierra responded happily.
Being praised, Chantel was pleased. With that, she turned to look at Clarissa.
"Hand it to her, Clarissa."
Nonetheless, Clarissa did not move.
Petrified, she stared at Sierra.
Looking at Clarissa, Chantel was stunned before she frowned.
"Clarissa?
She gave Clarissa a light push. "What are you looking at? Hurry up and give her the jade pendant!"
Finally, Clarissa came to her senses.
Her face was rather pale, and tears were welling up in her limpid eyes.
"Aunt Chantel," she called in a soft voice, which was a little hoarse.
Seeing that Clarissa was in a trance, Chantel was shocked. Right away, she walked to Clarissa's side and asked nervously, "Are you okay? You're scaring me!"
With her tensed body, Clarissa mechanically turned her head to Sierra.
Being stared at, Sierra was confused. She then turned her head and looked at Robert with an inquiring gaze. Seeing that Robert was also at a loss, she frowned.
"Miss, are... are you alright?"
She tentatively asked with concern.
Clarissa's body jolted.
Suddenly, she stood up and walked toward Sierra.
Everyone was shocked. Even Mr. Jenkins stood up.
Naturally, Sierra and Robert stood up as well.
Perhaps because Sierra could sense the tremendous sorrow that emanated from Clarissa's body, her face changed and became slightly pale.
Then, she held Robert's hand. For some reason, when she looked into Clarissa's eyes, she could feel a strange dull pain in her heart.
It was as if a large rock had press down on her chest, suffocating her.
"Robert," she called out softly.
At once, Robert warily took her into his arms. While staring at Clarissa, he comforted her, "Don't be afraid. I'm here."
He pursed his lips. Just when Clarissa was about to approach Sierra, he took a step forward and stopped Clarissa.
"Please hold."
Clarissa looked up at him blankly.
Although he looked grim, doubts were flashing in the depths of his eyes.
"Miss, my wife is in poor health and dislikes having close contact with strangers. If you have anything, please say it here."
