Chapter 448 A Memory Flashback

Her heart was pounding violently and rapidly.
Lauren turned her face away from him.
She was so flustered that she seemed to be avoiding Jameson.
After a while, Jameson finished smoking and stood up.
"Let's go!"
Lauren also stood up and asked, "Where are we going?"
"You just bought a house for more than 10 million, don't you want to have a look?"
The two of them walked out of the Oriental Hotel and got into Jameson's SUV together.
The car engine started and sped up on the road.
Soon, they arrived at the foot of Mount Solstice.
Lauren had not been back for many years. Unexpectedly, everything here was still the same— the traditional blue bricks and the green roof tiles; the bridges with water running below. After more than a decade, Lauren did not develop a sense of unfamiliarity towards it when she visited the place again.
Lauren still remembered the time when she was sent here to learn how to paint when she was a child. Although it was a short period of time, it was a wonderful experience.
Jameson told Lauren then he would not go in after Lauren had asked him the same. Therefore, Lauren got out of the car alone.
She pushed open the door and walked into the old mansion alone.
The house was not big, and it was somewhat similar to the traditional buildings in the early years, but not exactly the same. A huge screen wall designed by Jeromia could be seen as soon as she entered the house.
The yard was overgrown with weeds. It was obvious that no one had come here for some years.
There was a locust tree in the corner. In her memory, it had been planted since her first visit here.
At that time, it was just a seedling that had grown into a towering tree now. Its branches and leaves stretched far away beyond, shading the whole corner of the wall.
It was full of memories!
Lauren walked to the door and pushed it open. A thin layer of dust fell from above her head.
The light in the room was dim. Lauren found a switch with her memory and turned it on with a snap.
The old chandelier made a buzzing noise, and finally, it turned on after flickering for a while. The furniture in the house was covered with a layer of white cloth to prevent dust because there was no one living here. When the owner of the house came back one day, a lesser cleaning job would be required.
Unfortunately... the owner of the house would never come back again!
Lauren felt a little dejected in her heart.
She pushed the bedroom door open.
There were two bedrooms that were closely connected. Lauren remembered that when she couldn't fall asleep at that time, Jeromia would pat her on the shoulder and coax her so that she would not let be afraid.
Memories flooded her brain. Only now did she realize that there were many things that she didn't want to recall because she didn't want to think about them, rather than she had forgotten about them.
Those feelings were deep-rooted in her blood and bones could never be forgotten!
Lauren then walked into the room where she stayed when she was a child. Looking at the small wooden bed, she suddenly missed the feeling of sleeping in it.
Then she lay on the bed without a stir.
Now she had grown up, Lauren could only curl up when she slept on the small bed. It was not the most comfortable sleeping posture, but she felt at ease.
It was as if she had returned to her childhood. She was so innocent and carefree.
Lauren closed her eyes gently. All of a sudden, she felt very tired.
She hadn't slept in peace for a long time!
She clenched her fists and said to herself, "I just need to nap for a while, even if it takes ten minutes."
"I'll take it as a ten-minute mini holiday for myself."
...
"Clap! Clap!"
Suddenly, a strange sound came from outside the window.
Lauren suddenly opened her eyes, and her eyes were twinkled with stars.
She shouted in a deep voice, "Who is it?"
As soon as her voice fell, a black shadow suddenly flashed across the window.
She turned over and got up off the bed, immediately chasing after him.
At this time, it was about seven o'clock in the evening. The night was dark, and the evening lights were just lit. The autumn breeze was slowly blowing in the yard, but there was no one else.
She stood at the door, looking around vigilantly.
Suddenly, Lauren's eyes lit up.
She saw a snow-white kitten squatting under the window, drenched, as if it had just been dragged out of the water by someone!
However, it did not rain today. Lauren also did not remember any pond nearby.
After hesitating for a long time, she finally walked over and picked up the kitten.
The kitten was very gentle and meowed piteously in her arms.
"Meow!"
She suddenly smiled.
It was a cute kitten.
Lauren turned around and closed the door. Then, she walked out of the yard with the white kitten in her arms.
From a distance, she saw Jameson sitting in the car, with one hand on the window, and the sleeve of his white shirt rolled up, revealing half of his arm. He appeared to be carefree.
Seeing her coming out with a kitten in her arms, Jameson was a little surprised. "Where did it come from?"
Lauren smiled faintly. "I found it in the yard. Isn't it cute?"
Perhaps he was not so much of a pet person. He calmly glanced at it and said, "I don't think so."
Lauren glared at him.
She then ignored his displeased expression and sat in the front passenger seat with the cat in her arms.
As the kitten was soaked with water, Lauren asked Jameson to find a clean towel in the trunk and wiped it carefully.
Lauren was so patient with the kitten.
Jameson was even more displeased.
But at this time, the kitten stretched itself on Lauren's leg and shook itself.
Droplets of water immediately splashed in all directions.
Jameson almost flew off the handle.
He shouted angrily, "It's so dirty!"
The kitten stretched out its claws to him and meowed, as if it was retorting him.
Lauren was suddenly overjoyed.
The car engine started and drove slowly into the road.
They left.
When Lauren returned to the villa, it was already eight o'clock in the evening. Lauren handed the kitten to the servant and asked him to look after it. Then she went to check on the baby for a while before going upstairs to rest.
The next morning, she saw a man standing in front of the bed.
Jameson said in a cold voice, "At 8 o'clock tomorrow, come with me to the mountain resort! I have something on there."
After that, he turned and left.
Lauren stood still in the room. It took her quite a while to react.
They were going to a  mountain resort? Just the two of them?
She was a little confused and still wanted to ask more, but Jameson denied her the chance to do so and turned around and left.
Early the next morning.
Lauren followed Jameson to a famous mountain resort near Nilween City.
It was already ten o'clock in the morning when they arrived at the resort after two hours of driving.
Jameson booked a presidential suite. After putting down their luggage, Jameson went to change his clothes.
He wore a white casual outfit when he went out this morning, but now he changed into a black formal suit. His hair was slicked back neatly, revealing his forehead, which made him look smart.
He asked while fastening his wristwatch, "I have a luncheon at noon. Do you want to join me?"
Lauren immediately shook her head. "I'm not going."
As if he had already expected her answer, Jameson looked at her, pointed at the phone in the living room, and said, "Then you can make a call to order food yourself. I will come back at about three o'clock in the afternoon. Before that, don't wander around. Do you understand?"
Lauren nodded quickly.
Only then did he pick up his coat and leave.
After Jameson walked away, Lauren finally felt at ease. She walked around the room and found that there was a small garden on the balcony. There was a hot tub in the garden, which was large enough to accommodate five or six people. The tub was clean and could be used immediately once it started running.
Lauren got up early today so she felt a little sleepy now. Seeing this, she immediately ran the bath and soon the water had filled half of the tub. Then she went back to her room and changed into a swimsuit before getting into the hot tub.
