Chapter 415 Secret Protection
Yasmin seemed to have just seen Clarissa at this moment.
"So you're Anderson's wife, right? Hello, my name is Yasmin Paisley. You can just call me Yasmin."
Clarissa put on a faint smile. Her attitude was not particularly warm. "Hello."
When Elicia saw this, she asked Anderson and elders of the Ethanbez Family to play chess in the back of the house while the ladies would stay at the front hall and chat.
Clarissa wasn't bothered by this arrangement as most men and women did not share common topics to talk about.
As for Anderson, before he left, he was afraid that she would not feel too comfortable staying behind, so he secretly gripped her hand.
"Stay here for a while. I'll come back here after a few words with them."
Clarissa nodded.
After Anderson left, she walked over to the sofa. The sofa was already full of people. So a maid brought over a cushioned bar stool for her. Clarissa sat down on it as she quietly listened to them speak.
Upon seeing this, Yasmin's eyes lit up.
She smiled at the ladies and said, "Do you know what we eat during the field training exercise? Let me tell you, we only brought field ration that would last for three days. We have to cross the Amalon forest to the opposite base before we get to eat something. There were various hidden traps. We didn't know about it beforehand."
After all, Yasmin had been in the army. These experiences were something novel for these rich ladies who had been pampered, so everyone listened to her very carefully.
Someone asked, "The Amalon forest is so big. How is it possible to pass through it in three days? Besides, why didn't they tell you about the traps beforehand? What if you get hurt?"
"Just endure it if you're injured." Yasmin had a proud look on her face. "I remembered that I met a bunch of natives at that time and I was almost caught by them. But fortunately, I ran fast enough and didn't fall into their trap."
"The natives? Could it be the cannibals?"
"Well... More or less! But they don't eat people. They catch people to perform ritual killing. They will cut off their heads, and put them on the altar in the moonlight..."
"Oh my god! I don't want to hear it anymore, it's too scary."
"What's so scary about that? Cannibals are still okay. The scariest part of the forest is the poisonous bugs, wild beasts and swamps. If you're not careful enough, you'll easily become the prey of those things. Speaking of this..."
Yasmin suddenly turned to look at Clarissa and said thoughtfully, "At that time, if Anderson didn't save me, I might be able to escape from it."
Anderson?
What did their military training have to do with Anderson?
Clarissa showed no emotions, but Elicia explained with a smile.
"About six or seven years ago, Anderson came to F Country for a period of time. At that time, he happened to meet Yasmin and saved her."
Oh.
So that was how it was!
Clarissa suddenly understood. Yasmin smiled and said, "At that time, I was only a little girl. How could I deal with so many things at once? If it weren't for broth Anderson's secret protection all the way, I would have died there."
After that, she said, "I was bitten by a giant snake at that time. I was paralyzed and couldn't move. Anderson sucked the poison out for me despite the danger and kept me company all night. That was why I survived. Hence, we can be considered comrades-in-arms who went through thick and thin together."
"I knew it. You two are in such a good relationship. It is probably because of this incident. I've heard that Young Master Anderson is cold and aloof. You're the only one who can talk to him."
Yasmin smiled sweetly, "Anderson is not a cold person at all. That's because you two aren't familiar with him. I think he's quite nice to me."
"You only know how to speak up for him."
The group of people smiled happily. Clarissa also gave a faint smile as well. For some reason, she felt a little cold in her heart.
Just then, the servants prepared some new tea and served it to them.
"Clarissa, have a taste. This is the top-notch Purrcha that I've specially gotten from my dad. He likes it very much. I could tell at a glance that it is a high-quality tea, so I quickly brought it for you to try."
Elicia laughed and said, "Wouldn't he scold you if you took it away from him?"
"No way! Dad is so filial to you! He's just too busy. If he's free, he'll send it to you personally."
"You're a sweet-talker."
A group of people laughed as the servants poured tea for everyone. The cups were the size of a thumb. Clarissa picked one of them up and took a sniff. Indeed, it was really aromatic.
Clarissa had also heard of the tea "Purrcha" before. It was a special kind of tea. Only the government officials holding high positions could drink it. The Jordan Family, naturally, had it too. But it was in the possession of Old Master Jordan.
Because he knew that she and Anderson were not a fan of tea, Old Master Jordan had never been willing to share it with them. Every time he craved for it, he would only make himself a cup of tea.
"Clarissa, go ahead and try it." Elicia smiled at her.
Clarissa tasted it. The taste was slightly bitter, and the sweetness returned by the throat after the bitterness. It tasted fresh and sweeter than other teas. Apart from that, there was no difference.
Of course, she wouldn't be so rude to tell the truth. Clarissa just nodded with a smile and said, "It's good. It's really a special tea and really different from what we usually drink."
Elicia smiled with satisfaction when she heard this. At this moment, a servant who came over to serve Clarissa tea suddenly trembled and poured a pot of freshly brewed tea on Clarissa's body.
"Hey! What's wrong with you? Are you blind?"
Yasmin immediately screamed and quickly asked Clarissa, "Clarissa, how are you? Did you get scalded?"
Although the tea was very hot, Clarissa was agile enough to avoid some of it, so she was fine. There was not much tea spilled on her body. Even though a large area of her dress was wet, it didn't hurt too much.
"I'm fine."
As soon as Clarissa finished her words, the maid began to cry. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Jordan. I didn't mean it. I'm sorry."
"What's the point of saying sorry? Can you bear the responsibility of scalding Clarissa?" Yasmin looked stern.
The maid was even more afraid now. She stood there with her head lowered. She was so scared that her eyes were red and her whole body was trembling.
Clarissa couldn't bear to see her in this state. She interrupted Yasmin and said, "I'm fine. It's just that my clothes are wet but I'm not scalded. She didn't do it intentionally. There's no need to blame her."
Upon hearing what she said, Yasmin's anger gradually subsided.
Elicia also frowned and said to the maid, "Be careful next time, alright?"
The maid nodded repeatedly. "Yes, Old Madam Ethanbez. I won't do it again."
"Let Yasmin take you to change clothes. You are about the same height, so you should be able to wear her clothes."
Elicia then ordered Yasmin to take her to change clothes.
Clarissa looked at her dress. The stain happened to be on the lower part of the body. It was not appropriate for her to dress like this, so she nodded.
Seeing this, Yasmin immediately stood up and said with a smile, "Clarissa, let's go."
