Chapter 977 A Private Talk

After listening to what Mr. Jenkins said, Clarissa nodded.
"So, is this how she was when you first met her?"
Mr. Jenkins furrowed his brows and sighed, "Yes. Since the first time I met her, I felt that she was different from ordinary people. Although she was full of kindness, she was also sensitive and easily frightened. That time, I suspected that she had a trauma."
Then, he smiled awkwardly and added, "But of course, this is her private affairs, so I didn't ask nor pay much attention to it. Only through yesterday's incident, I found out the actual reason."
For a moment, Clarissa was silent.
"Actually, I have a presumptuous request. Hopefully, you can agree to it."
"Please go ahead."
"Although I am her daughter, she doesn't remember me now, so she isn't comfortable with my presence. However, I am still worried about her. Yesterday, I saw her condition was unusual, and I would like to find a doctor to give her a thorough check-up."
"But of course, I am not doing this to let her remember me. I just want to make sure that she is safe and healthy. Even so, if I tell her about it, she will definitely turn me down. So, can you persuade her and tell her a white lie that the doctor is a friend of yours in Flaucford?"
At first, Mr. Jenkins was stunned. Then, he burst out laughing.
"Mrs. Jordan, I know you are kind, but in my opinion, you don't have to do that."
"What do you say so?" Clarissa frowned.
With a smile, he explained, "You don't know this, do you? Mr. Lane, who came with Miss Campos yesterday, is actually a skillful doctor. Back then, when I was poisoned by snake venom in the desert, he saved me. Even though his medical skills are top-notch in the world, he has a strange character. Moreover, he is an introvert. Therefore, he is not as famous as those well-known doctors. Since Miss Campos is married to him for so many years, I believe she would be in the pink of health."
After hearing that, Clarissa was in awe. "He is a doctor?"
"Yes, if you don't believe me, you can ask any friend who works in the medical field. Outsiders might not know him, but he is very well-known in the medical field."
Right away, Clarissa turned around and exchanged glances with Anderson.
As Anderson understood what she meant, he took out his phone and sent a message to Sienna.
Soon, Sienna replied him.
"What? Robert Lane? Where is he? You've met that genius? Oh my god! I want to meet him too! I have plenty of questions to consult him with! Please tell me where he is!"
Upon reading the message, Anderson turned off his phone screen expressionlessly.
After that, he turned to Clarissa and nodded. Only then, she knew that Mr. Jenkins was not lying.
Knowing that Sierra's health would be taken care of, she was relieved.
Just then, there was a light sound of footsteps outside.
Robert pushed open the door and helped Sierra in.
"Tobias..."
As soon as Sierra spoke, she froze at the sight of Clarissa and Anderson.
Subconsciously, she clutched on Robert's cuff tightly. With his eyebrows slightly furrowed, Robert pulled her into his arms and stared coldly at Clarissa and Anderson.
At once, Clarissa stood up.
"Hey, it's you. Come and have a seat."
Mr. Jenkins was the first to react. With a smile, he quickly stepped forward and smoothed things over.
Then, Sierra and Robert entered. When they passed by Clarissa, their footsteps halted momentarily. In the end, they walked past her without a word and sat on the other side.
"What brings the both of you here at this time?"
Actually, Mr. Jenkins knew that Sierra was not in good health, so she and Robert would usually have a long rest in her room and only came out when it was close to noon.
However, it was just 8:30 in the morning.
Sierra pursed her lips and revealed a polite smile.
"We've been in the Flaucford for several days, and we've enjoyed our trip. So, we're here to say goodbye."
Hearing that, Mr. Jenkins was taken aback and went white.
"Why are you leaving so soon? Are you not used to staying here?"
Instantaneously, Sierra shook her head. "No."
With guilt in her eyes, she glanced at Clarissa and forced a smile. "We have yet to visit other places, so we don't want to waste too much time here. Thank you for your care during this period of time, Tobias. We shall meet again when there is a chance."
After hearing what she said, Mr. Jenkins knitted his brows.
Although he was reluctant to see them leave, he decided to respect their decision.
"If that's the case, then I won't say anything more. Where do you plan to go next?"
Sierra shook her head. "We haven't decided yet, but we plan to take things casually. Wherever there is a place we like, we will stay for a few days."
Hearing that, Mr. Jenkins smiled.
"That's great. Anyway, you have plenty of time to travel anywhere you wish. Since you rarely come out, you should have a blast."
Listening to what he said, Sierra and Robert nodded.
Soon, the room fell into silence, and everyone awkwardly looked at each other. Just then, Clarissa walked up to Sierra and stared at her with a deep gaze.
"Are you leaving in such a hurry because of me?"
Sierra trembled.
At that moment, she did not dare to look into Clarissa's eyes, and her gaze shimmered. "Mrs. Jordan, please don't get me wrong. Although we used to share a deep relationship, it's all in the past. Now, I'm a completely new self, and I don't remember you. So, I have no reason to avoid you."
However, Clarissa did not believe Sierra.
With that, her lips set in a hard line. After a while, she said to Mr. Jenkins, "I want to talk to her alone."
Puzzled, Mr. Jenkins glanced at Sierra.
Seeing that Robert frowned, Clarissa added, "I won't say much, and I'll leave once I'm done."
Terrified, Sierra clutched Robert's sleeve tightly, but after a while, she let go.
"Wait for me outside, Robert. I'll talk to Mrs. Jordan."
Hearing that, Robert nodded and left.
Needless to say, Mr. Jenkins went out too. As for Anderson, he briefly held Clarissa's hand before following them out.
After the door of the reception room was closed, Clarissa looked at Sierra. Although ten years had flown by, Sierra's face was still flawless, and she was as poise as usual.
Besides, every smile of hers seemed to be the same as before.
Even so, Clarissa felt distant and strange.
While clenching her fingers, she asked in a deep voice, "How have you been these years?"
Sierra seemed to be a little nervous. After a long while, she nodded. "I've been doing great."
"When did you... meet him?"
Hearing that, Sierra was dazed. Only after a few seconds, she realized that Clarissa was referring to Robert.
With her brows knitted, she shook her head. "I can't remember. Anyway, as soon as I woke up, I saw him."
