Chapter 214 Meet The Duncan Family
After a while, Elliot sneered on the phone.
"What do you think?"
"Me?"
Lara was a little surprised, and she didn't expect Elliot to ask her in reply.
She bit her lip, and her ears blushed scarlet quickly because she was shy. She said in a soft voice, "Of course I want to marry you soon. After all, we have been together for a long time..."
"Since you want, let's get married!"

"Really? Elliot, you agreed?"
Elliot looked out of the window indifferently. Seeing the crowded people and vehicles in the night, he didn't know why, but he suddenly felt very lonely and sad.
It was like the fire that had been burning in the bottom of his heart had gone out little by little as time passed by.
He said blandly, "Of course. You have been with me for so many years and you once got pregnant for me. Although you had a miscarriage, I should be responsible for you, shouldn't I?"
Lara almost cried with joy.
"Elliot, thank you. I... thought..."
She choked and almost burst into tears. After a long while, she said intermittently, "I thought that you no longer love me after so many things, and you won't marry me anymore. Besides, now I..."
Elliot said in a light tone.
"Fool, how come? Even if everyone is on the opposite side of you, I will always be by your side and support you!"

This night was like a beautiful and fragile dream for Lara.
After a long time, when she thought back on it, she still felt sweet.

Conner agreed on the phone without saying anything else, but he scolded Elliot severely as soon as he hung up the phone.

Elliot sat on the sofa with his head lowered down, letting Conner scold him without saying a word.
After Conner finished cursing, Elliot looked up at him and said calmly, "Dad, calm down first. You're not in good health. Why do you have to be so mad?"
"You!"
Conner suddenly became more furious, grabbed a cushion and threw it at him.
"How dare you say that? If you didn't anger me several times, how could I get sick?"
Elliot was noncommittal. He took the cushion and put it aside.
After a while, he said blandly, "I have agreed to marry her. This is what I owe her. I should marry her."
"What do you owe her? You haven't done enough for the Chapman family? She is still trying to use you to whitewash herself! Do you really allow her to do this? Do you want to ruin the reputation of our family?"
"We are businessmen, and we don't make money by reputation..."
"That's just easy to say!"
Looking at Elliot, Conner went berserk. After thinking for a while, he said, "Delay this matter first. You can agree to it verbally, but don't really get the marriage certificate so stupidly now! I will put away the permanent-residence booklet. Don't think about getting it! If there's really no other way, go aboard like your sister and don't come back until you think about it carefully!"
After speaking, Conner ignored him. He got up and went back to the room.
Elliot sat on the sofa and rubbed his hair without speaking.
The next day, Chapman family made an appointment with Conner and had lunch at the Hotel at noon.
Lara came earlier. Instead of driving by herself, she sat in a car with Chloe. Lena and Gianni sat in another car.
The cars stopped in the underground garage. Before getting off the car, Chloe grabbed her hand and asked, "Have you arranged the reporters?"
Lara hesitated for a while and nodded.
Chloe was satisfied, and then sighed.
"I have no choice but to do this. When I talked with your Uncle Duncan on the phone last night, I found that he didn't seem to be so enthusiastic about this matter. Humph! I know him quite well."
"He used to treat you well because you were pregnant with Elliot's child. But since you had a miscarriage, he has never mentioned your marriage again. I was afraid that he would regret it, so I asked you to do this. Can you understand my painstaking efforts?"
Lara bit her lower lip, nodded and whispered, "Thank you, grandma. I understand."

After getting off the car, they entered the elevator and walked to the reserved box.
Elliot and Conner didn't come until the meal was about to begin. As soon as they walked in, they shook hands with Gianni and Chloe warmly.

Chloe smiled gently and said, "It doesn't matter. We will be relatives by marriage soon. Mr. Duncan, you don't need to be so polite. We're not outsiders, so don't stand on ceremony."
Conner nodded with a smile. They sat down by seniority. Lara naturally sat next to Elliot, and the waiter started serving dishes.
