Chapter 693 Finally Grasp It
Sue opened her eyes wide and stared blankly at the helper.
Soon, the helper left but soon returned with a few pieces of candy. Then, she put them in Sue's palm.
The helper smiled warmly and added, "Be a good girl, Sue. Don't cry when you get an injection later. These candies will be your reward."
She nodded firmly as she glanced at the candy she loved the most.
Only then did the helper call the doctor over to give Sue an injection. Even though it was excruciatingly painful, she remembered the helper's words and held back her tears.
Her little palm clutched the candy as though it were her entire world.
After the injection, the doctor left. The helper had other commitments, so she also left.
Sue excitedly took out the candy, removed the candy wrapper, and was ready to pop it into her mouth.
All of a sudden, a few children rushed out and snatched her candy.
In her dream, she could not hear what the person in front of her was saying.
They just appeared to have childish looks, but their expressions were very vicious.
They proceeded to curse her while pointing at her. They even called her a shameless little b*tch!
Those who had never experienced it before would never have guessed that such children could utter such venomous language.
In the end, they pushed her down into the bed and peed on her bed. Finally, they grabbed the candy and walked away.
She could only stand there helplessly and cry.
Later, when the helper returned and discovered pee on Sue's bed, she assumed Sue did it.
There was a tinge of disappointment in her eyes when she looked at Sue.
Sue believed that there would most likely be no one in this world who would truly love her.
Someone else's false accusation was no match for the helper's love for her.
Her foster parents' devotion for her was merely a random act of kindness on their part.
Clint's affection for her was nothing more than a man's obsessive pursuit of his first love, although he had been by her side for twenty-six years.
In fact, it wasn't love but an obsession.
So, who in this world had genuinely loved her?
It must be Charlotte!
Charlotte was always haughty, with scorn in her eyes for everyone around her. She was as proud and magnificent as the stars themselves.
Sue, on the other hand, was the most inconspicuous person in comparison to Charlotte.
Nonetheless, Charlotte would always pick a few suitable designer bags that her parents had gotten for her and placed them in Sue's room.
However, she would not tell anyone, not even Sue.
Moreover, when Sue was being bullied, Charlotte would step forward arrogantly to defend her. Then she would reprimand Sue for being useless, embarrassing the family.
Also, despite what she had done, Charlotte discreetly saved Sue.
She didn't say anything and was not willing to forgive her.
She hoped, though, that Sue was still alive and had nothing to do with her.
From the start to the end, Charlotte was the one who had never harmed her!
Sue's tears streamed softly from the corners of her eyes in the dim light.
At that moment, she seemed to finally grasp what the mistake from back then had caused her to lose what she originally had.
Everything, however, had come to an end, and it was irreversible.
The next day.
Charlotte received the news that Sue had already left Flaucford by plane.
It was a servant who reported the news. When the servant informed Charlotte, she was in the garden, trimming a plant under the guidance of a master gardener.
Gardening had recently piqued her interest. She thought it was perfect for her.
It could build her character and provide insight at the same time.
It was indeed a fascinating experience.
For example, the plant in front of them grew unevenly at first. It was lovely, but it always gave people the impression that it was a little messy.
Now, if she trimmed away all unnecessary parts, then all that was left would be beautiful.
This worked the same in our lives as well.
Everyone's life was imperfect.
When dealing with others, people would go through ups and downs in life as a result of their distinct personalities.
Hence, they would need to improve themselves to avoid hurting each other.
Finally, there was nothing but warmth.
Thinking of this, she smiled gently.
Then, she responded as she handed the scissors to the gardener, "Alright, noted."
After that, she disregarded the matter and turned to walk into the house.
At that time, Buckley was reading in his study room.
Charlotte pushed the door open and entered with a platter of fruit in her hand.
Buckley raised his head and looked her in the eyes. But it was only a glance before he came to a halt.
He was keenly aware that she was not the same as she had been a few days before.
Then, he looked at the fruit on the table and said with a chuckle, "Just leave this to the servants. Why did you do it yourself?"
Although he said so, he still took a piece of fruit and put it in his mouth.
The fruit's wonderful aroma filled his tongue, and he narrowed his eyes happily.
Seeing that, Charlotte raised her eyebrows and glanced at him.
"What's wrong? Are you not satisfied?"
Buckley quickly swallowed the fruit and shook his head. "No. It's just that I can't bear to trouble you."
Charlotte paused for a moment.
He was known for not sugarcoating his words.
However, that was why the words sounded sincere whenever he said them.
Finally, she couldn't hold back any longer, and a smile emerged in her eyes. She approached him from behind and said, "Why do you stay in the study room all the time? It's a beautiful day outside. Why don't you take a walk?"
Regardless of whether he agreed or not, she pushed his wheelchair out.
Buckley was taken aback for a moment, but he couldn't do anything once he came back to his senses.
This was Charlotte's personality. She hadn't changed at all in all these years.
Buckley had long been accustomed to her character. Charlotte always spoke and acted in an overbearing manner, and she was very efficient at doing things.
Although he was used to it, he still couldn't help saying, "Sure! We can go out, but can we at least bring the fruit along?"
Charlotte's face flushed as she rolled her eyes.
"Food is really everything to you, huh?"
She stated that in a hushed tone, but she still took the plate of fruit and handed it to him. Then, she pushed him outside again.
On the lawn in the yard.
Buckley was in a wheelchair, whereas Charlotte was sitting next to him on a carved bench.
