Chapter 646 Repay Evil With Evil

It was also because she was already exhausted from crying and had no energy to continue.
As Evelyn was afraid that her mood and body would be affected, she quickly poured a cup of warm water for her to drink.
After a while, she asked with concern, "Mom, how are you? Are you okay?"
With a nod, Iris replied, "I'm fine."
After a pause, she then looked at her and said with a pleased smile, "Today, my long-awaited wish has been fulfilled. I cannot be better. I was only too happy to react that way earlier, so you don't have to worry about me."
Hearing that, Evelyn nodded, still, she couldn't help but to comfort her. "Mom, I am glad that you're happy. As long as you're happy, everything is worth it."
After a moment of silence, Iris asked, "How did you get Forbos to sign the agreement?"
If Evelyn knew Forbos well, then Iris would know more about him than Evelyn did.
She knew how shameless the man was.
Now that he was sentenced to death, it was the only matter of his concern. If there was anything he could do to make the mother-daughter pair unhappy before his death, he would definitely do it.
Therefore, in her opinion, Forbos would not easily agree to divorce.
The fact was just as she had expected.
However, in this world, there was always someone better.
Then, Evelyn told Iris what had happened in the prison today.
Hearing this, Iris was stunned, but after a while, she couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"I'm surprised that you thought of using this to threaten him."
Hearing that, Evelyn smiled proudly.
"Of course. People like him are afraid of death. The more benefit you give him, the more arrogant he will be. To deal with someone like him, you have to use the cruel way. Isn't he most afraid of pain? If he doesn't sign the agreement, I will not let him die. I'll send someone to guard him every day, and he would have to withstand his drug addiction. I willfind someone to beat him twice, but make sure he is alive. He will be beaten just so he could taste the feeling of living death."
With a smile, Iris replied, "Sorry you have to go through so much."
Knowing the kind of person Evelyn was, if it wasn't for her, she wouldn't have done such a thing.
Hearing that, Evelyn sighed.
Reaching out to hold her mother's hand, she placed it on her palm.
"Mom, don't say that, or anything like 'Thank you' and 'Sorry.' I am your daughter. You raised me up since I was a child. In those difficult days, you had protected me, and you made sure I was not beaten or hurt at all. I am the one who should be thanking you."
In fact, she really felt that it was miraculous. When facing such a stepfather who was a scumbag, other than her hard life, she had never suffered any physical harm.
Back then, Forbos had beaten her mother, but he never dared to hit her.
Once, Iris stood in front of Forbos with a knife in hand and told him it didn't matter if he did anything to herself.
But if he dared to touch daughter, she would find a way to perish together with him!
Over the years, it was apparent that Iris's love for her daughter was unimaginable.
As for Forbos, it was exactly because of Iris's stern behaviour that she would fight till the end, he didn't dare to make the move.
However, when he did hurt Evelyn, it was after Iris fell ill, and Evelyn had started working.
Every time she thought about this, Evelyn felt grateful.
The two of them sat and chatted for a while. It was already evening when they went downstairs to eat.
The next day, Evelyn was worried that her mother would be bored at home, so she took her out shopping.
Although Iris had not recovered completely, it wouldn't affect her going out.
As long as she was not too tired, going out for a walk would be beneficial for her physical and mental recovery.
In addition, now that she was divorced, she had nothing to do with that scumbag, Forbos anymore.
Hence, Iris was in a good mood and wanted to go out for a stroll.
So the two of them decided to go to the market nearby.
Since the ladies were going shopping, it was obviously not suitable for Marty to join.
Therefore, he went to work early in the morning.
But he did promise them that he would pick them up at night, then have dinner together before going home.
Hearing that, Iris and Evelyn were happy that he was taking them to enjoy delicious food at night, so they all agreed immediately.
After they went out, they went to the nearest mall—Revelation Square.
Revelation square was a shopping mall under Jordan Group.
But because of Evelyn's current popularity, it was not very convenient for her to go shopping.
Fortunately, Revelation Square was a high-end shopping mall, and most stores were designer brands. Hence, very few people would go there. Most who went there were famous celebrities, rich second-generation children, or rich noble ladies.
Therefore, it was more convenient to go there.
In addition, the security over there was relatively strict. Even if they met some fans over there, everyone would be very rational. At most, they would say hello and take photos to post on Twitter.
Or they would only ask for a signature. Hence, there were no crazy fans.
The other thing was that the fans of female celebrities were generally quite rational.
Unlike man's fans, they can be quite crazy when they were following the celebrities.
Once Evelyn witnessed one of Anthony's female fans followed him from the set to the hotel, then from the hotel to his home.
And she had never left sight of him.
It was bothersome to handle this kind of situation, but there was no way to help it.
He couldn't beat nor scold the fan. As a public figure, it's easy to trigger negative public opinion if he didn't handle it properly.
Therefore, for this point, male celebrities definitely had it harder than female celebrities.
Along with her mother, they shopped around from a store to another.
The environment here was peaceful. It was not as noisy as some other shopping malls, but the only disadvantage was that things were too expensive.
Even though from the perspective of Evelyn, these prices were acceptable.
And based on her current status, she was fully capable of affording these things.
But for her mother, it was different.
As she was used to saving money since she was young, not to mention the ten years she was married to Forbos, Iris was never a big spender even when Evelyn's father was still alive and worked for the Blaine family.
Iris was a traditional woman. Other than supporting her husband and taking care of her daughter, she was also a hard-working and frugal woman, which these qualities were imprinted deep in her bones.
Therefore, even if her living condition was very good now, and Evelyn could make a lot of money, it was still difficult for her to change this thrifty habit.
Looking at the labels of the clothes, which cost about five or even six figures, Iris kept shaking her head.
"Evelyn, how about we stop shopping. I think we have enough clothes at home, and we don't need these."
Forcing a smile, Iris said helplessly.
At the same time, Evelyn felt there was nothing we could do.
