Chapter 473 New Year Wish
Anderson analyzed the situation with Old Madam Jordan on the phone again. Although he said that he would not help the Cole Family, he still had to investigate the matter.
After all, Anderson's mother was an immediate relative of the Cole Family. Although she had passed away, the relationship was still there. In case the matter was revealed, they would be affected as well.
After hanging up the phone, Anderson's gaze fell back on Clarissa again.
He bent over to kiss her on the lips and murmured, "I'm going out in the afternoon. You have a good rest at home. Call me if you need anything. Okay?"
Clarissa nodded.
After a pause, she was still worried about him, so she said, "Be careful."
Anderson smiled and did not say anything. He turned around and left.
It was almost evening when Clarissa received a call.
Anderson told her that he had found out what happened to the Cole family. It was true that they were not the one who planted something in the goods, but a business rival.
Apart from that, he also found something else, which was something that Charmaine's father used to make exorbitant profit from over the years.
Old Madam Jordan was not soft-hearted at all when it came to handling their matter.
On the other hand, Charmaine's family, strictly speaking, could only be regarded as Anderson's mother's cousin, which couldn't be compared with an immediate family member like Anthony at all.
Charmaine's father was the cousin of Anderson's mother. Therefore, over the years, Old Madam Jordan had been doing them favors, as long as they didn't violate the law.
However, they did not expect that the Cole family would turn their backs against the Jordan Family in this way.
As expected, once someone had grown reliant on your continuous support, it might rebound on you once you cut it off.
Because of the intervention of the Jordan Family, the matter was quickly settled.
Besides, because of Old Madam Jordan's intervention, Charmaine did not marry the fifty-year-old man in the end, but continued to go to school in Flaucford.
However, after the collapse of the Cole family, it was set in stone that Charmaine could no longer live like she used to, as a lady of a rich and noble family.
Moreover, because of the previous incident in which she tried to seduce Anderson, Charmaine struck Old Madam Jordan as being someone who did not know her place and an embarrassment to the Cole Family. Hence, she slowly estranged from her.
Therefore, she was having a tough time.
However, no one paid any attention to these things. No matter how tough Charmaine's life had become, she deserved it. Besides, the so-called having a tough time, was just that she couldn't spend money like she used to and visit some high-end places.
Compared with an ordinary student, she still lived a relatively comfortable life.
It was already a month later after Anderson finished dealing with these matters.
The injuries on Anderson's body were almost fully healed. Clarissa could already hear her baby's heart rate. Under the doctor's advice, she no longer wandered around. Instead, she stayed at home to make sure her baby was safe.
Mark's matter had not been resolved, but since she was pregnant now and she had returned to Flaucford, it was impossible for her to make another trip to F Country for this matter.
Not only the Jordan family would be worried about her, but it would be bad to her health too.
Thus, this matter could only be left in the hands of Anderson's men in F Country for the time being.
Fortunately, it also involved the Hampden family, so Harrison also intended to investigate the matter. Therefore, they had a higher chance of succeeding.
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, the new year came.
Clarissa promised Anne that she would go with her to float the water lantern. Once she heard that there would be a water lantern activity in the suburbs during new year, so after New Year's Eve dinner, the family drove to the suburbs.
Unexpectedly, Old Master Jordan and Old Madam Jordan wanted to tag along to join the fun.
There were five people in a car. Anderson was driving the car while Clarissa sat in the front passenger seat. Old Master Jordan, Old Madam Jordan and Anne were sitting in the back seat.
The car was driving on the bustling street. During the new year, the shops on the street were blasting music and full of sales promotion. What's more, the colorful string of lights were twining on the trees on the side of the road. It was really lively.
The car drove steadily, and it didn't take long for it to arrive near the riverside.
Three streams converged to form a river, passing through the city centre, giving the city a scenic view of mountains and rivers. It had a unique charm to it.
Floating the water lanterns was an old custom here for a long time. In Flauford, the water lantern could be floated before the 15th day of the New Year which was different from other cities.
Therefore, every year during the period from the beginning of the New Year to the 15th day of the New Year, the whole river would be filled with water lanterns. Countless men and women, old and young, would come over here to make a wish.
On both sides of the river, there was a row of willows. Many shops were decorated in an antique style, with a touch of historic sense. Over a long time, it had developed into a tourist attraction.
The members of the Jordan family were all locals. They had seen a lot of such a bustling scene, so they were not surprised.
But Clarissa had been staying in Visstead before, so it was rare for her to see such a scene.
The river was very long and it ran through the whole city. The streets were full of vintage shops.
There were bars, accessories shops, a store selling local specialties and snacks, as well as some restaurants and so on.
Most of the people who came here to have fun were from other cities, but there were also quite a lot of locals.
Anderson went to buy five water lanterns. Each of them took one and walked to the river.
They squeezed through the crowd and finally came to the riverside. However, it was not possible for five of them to be in the same spot, so they were dispersed.
Old Master Jordan and Old Madam Jordan, together with Anne were pushed to the other side of the crowd. Clarissa and Anderson were on this side.
Clarissa took out a black ink pen and handed it to him. She smiled and said, "What's your wish?"
Anderson looked at her and returned the pen to her. "Ladies first."
"No, I want to see you writing first."
Anderson paused for a moment and took over the pen. "Alright!"
He picked up the water lantern and scribbled a few words on it.
Clarissa went over to take a look and couldn't help but laugh.
"What kind of wish is this! Don't waste your only opportunity, okay? That's not even counted!"
Anderson put the water lantern into the water with a serious expression. "Why not?"
"Of course not! This wish is too unrealistic."
Anderson raised his eyebrows.
"How can it be called a wish if it can be easily attained?"
Clarissa was stunned and looked up at him.
It was a little cold in the night. The colorful lights on the riverside were reflected on his deep-set and handsome features. He was just standing there and countless girls could be attracted by just one glance at him.
All of a sudden, an indescribable feeling welled up in her chest.
She tiptoed and kissed him on the chin.
Anderson lowered his head and looked at her.
Clarissa smiled at him, took the pen from him, and wrote a line of words on the water lantern.
"I wish that his wish will come true."
Anderson's eyes lit up and he held her hand.
Clarissa put the water lantern into the water and said with a smile, "With double security, God will hear our wishes."
His voice was a little hoarse. "Clarissa."
"What's that?"
Clarissa turned around. The next second, his lips were pressing hers.
After all, it was outside, and there were still so many people around. Therefore, he only placed a light kiss on her lips before he let go of her.
