Chapter 992 I Want To Thank Him
The atmosphere was warm, and Anderson's words made Clarissa laugh merrily.
Then, she whispered softly, "Thank you."
In response, Anderson hugged her and asked, "Why do you thank me all of a sudden?"
With her head on Anderson's shoulder, Clarissa whispered, "I was drifting in life like walking in darkness without any hope of finding my path. I thought that was my destiny. Day to day, I plodded on. From the day I met you, you showered me with love and warmth. So here's a big thank you to you, Anderson. Thank you for letting me know that there is true love in this world. Thank you for giving me a warm home."
As Anderson listened to her whisperings, his heart felt warmth as well.
Then, he hugged her tightly and whispered, "If you want to thank me, then thank me through your whole life."
After he said that, he lowered his head and gave her a kiss.
Clarissa did not push Anderson away. She closed her eyes and enjoyed this rare moment of warm intimacy.
So they lay in each other's arms for a spell before Anderson released her. At this moment, Anderson was breathing unsteadily.
Confused by his actions, Clarissa asked, "What's up?"
Anderson rubbed her face. Hoarsely, he cajoled,
"Be good and go to sleep. I'll take a bath."
"Didn't you take a bath earlier..."
A sudden thought struck Clarissa, making her blush.
Annoyed, Clarissa pushed Anderson away and urged him, "Then, go quickly!"
With a mischievous smile, Anderson got up.
When Anderson got out of his bath, Clarissa had fallen asleep from exhaustion.
Quietly, Anderson crept over and planted a kiss near Clarissa's ear. Then, he climbed into bed and cuddled against her. Soon, he drifted to sleep.
Early the next day, the surveyor that Anderson engaged arrived at the hotel.
Anderson did not want Clarissa to accompany him, so he had her stay back at the hotel with Sierra and the others. Together with Mr. Jenkins and the others, he proceeded to the mines.
Although Chantel was reluctant to go to the mines, Anderson insisted for her to learn the trade.
For Chantel to know the business, she had to learn from the bottom up. Perhaps the technical knowledge was beyond her, but she must at least understand the basics and fundamentals.
Clarissa was certain that Anderson was doing this for the good of Chantel.
Otherwise, he would not need to personally handle this business.
So, Clarissa did her part and persuaded Chantel, "Aunt Chantel, you should go. When the deal is done, and the business is making money, you hold your head high in front of Matteo. Then when you talk to Matteo about doing business here, this is the business you can talk about. Otherwise, when she asks about this business, you cannot answer. Won't all the credit will go to Anderson and me?"
Her words sounded reasonable to Chantel.
It was not easy for Chantel to find such a good project. How could she not personally oversee this?
So, Chantel happily followed Anderson to the mines.
Meanwhile, Clarissa accompanied Sierra for a relaxing day at the hotel.
In the afternoon, Anderson and the others came back from the mines. They had ascertained there was no problem with the mines and had signed the contract.
Naturally, Mr. Jenkins was smiling from ear to ear. He could find no better partner than Anderson.
Next to Mr. Jenkins, Chantel was the happiest person.
Although the mines had not started operating, Chantel was already on cloud nine, dreaming of her life with the rich and famous.
Now that Anderson had settled the business, he talked to Clarissa about leaving for home.
When Mr. Jenkins overheard Anderson's and Clarissa's plans, he immediately interjected.
"Mr. and Mrs. Jordan, I know that you are busy people, but won't it be a waste if you don't enjoy yourselves while you're here? Besides, it's already late in the day. It will be tiring to rush back to Ascijian. Why don't you stay and enjoy yourselves and go back tomorrow?"
Anderson turned back to look at Clarissa, who nodded in agreement.
Then, he asked, "Is there anything interesting near here?"
With a smile, Mr. Jenkins replied, "Leave it to me. Tonight, I'll show you around. You won't be disappointed."
Without asking more, Anderson agreed to Mr. Jenkins' suggestion. he could tell that Mr. Jenkins wanted to keep them in suspense.
In the evening, Anderson and the others had dinner outside. After that, they went to the place that Mr. Jenkins arranged for them.
Upon their arrival, they realized that it was an exhibition ground.
Excitedly, Mr. Jenkins introduced the place, "This is the largest exhibition ground in Ashax Country. There are all sorts of performances here. There are stage shows, magic shows, and even a circus. It's very exciting."
So, the mysterious place that Mr. Jenkins was keeping them in suspense turned out to be this.
While Clarissa thought and giggled, she turned to Mr. Jenkins. "You've slipped up this time. This is not new to us. We have seen those tricks before."
Immediately, Chantel chipped in as well, "That's right. This is just a circus. You can watch it everywhere. Why come here just to watch this?"
Mr. Jenkins was not ruffled, and he gave a mysterious smile.
"There are circuses everywhere, but this is not the same. You'll understand when it starts later."
Without the need to ask more, Clarissa sat down with Chantel.
Indeed, the circus was really beyond their expectations.
The performances of the circus here were better than other circuses they had seen.
Even Anderson, who was not interested in such things, was fascinated. Occasionally, he even exchanged remarks about the performance with Clarissa.
It was a relief to Mr. Jenkins to see that they were enjoying the performances.
When the show was over, they followed the crowd out.
As they were walking, someone accidentally bumped into Sierra all of a sudden.
Sierra let out a cry. Fortunately, Robert was quick to pull her away, so she was not knocked over.
"Are you all right?" asked Robert with concern.
Sierra shook her head in reply. Looking on, Clarissa sized up the situation and frowned.
"Mom, where's your handbag?"
Only then, Sierra reacted and exclaimed,
"Oh, no! Someone stole my bag!"
As soon as Sierra said this, Robert rushed out to chase.
Anderson, Clarissa, and the others surrounded Sierra to guard her. Together, they walked out to wait for Robert.
Sierra was remorseful, "Oh dear. I'm really absent-minded. I didn't even know that I lost my bag."
Perhaps the psychological impact of the past events or other reasons was so great that Sierra became forgetful and so slow to react.
The snatch thief took advantage of the crowd and snatched her bag, but Sierra was too startled to react immediately.
As Clarissa held Sierra's hand, she consoled Sierra, "Don't worry. Is there anything valuable in the bag?"
"No, it's just some money and a cell phone."
"That's good. The money doesn't matter. I'll buy a new cell phone for you."
