Chapter 734 It Was Him
No one knew how many punches she threw.
Finally, Clarissa's wrist was caught. All of a sudden, she felt her waist tighten and was pressed down by him.
She was immediately taken aback.
Just as she was preparing to counterattack again, she suddenly heard a familiar voice.
"Is that all you've got? Did you forget all of the techniques I taught you back then?"
Clarissa was stunned.
In disbelief, she stared at him.
He grasped her wrist. His hair and clothes were all a little messed up from the fight just now.
His eyes, on the other hand, were razor-sharp, as if they were about to pierce someone.
Seeing this, she couldn't help but shiver. "Who are you?"
Only a few people knew she was skilled in martial arts, but she couldn't think of anyone who could be here at this moment.
Upon hearing that, he smiled.
With a bright glint in his eyes, he then added in a low voice, "You've forgotten about me after not seeing me for a few days? Can't you recognize my voice?"
Clarissa was flabbergasted, and her eyes widened in surprise.
"Jara! You—!"
"Hush!"
Jara made a silent gesture with his finger to his lips.
"You should lower your voice if you don't want to attract people's attention, okay?" he murmured, looking up in the direction where the car was parked.
Clarissa was beyond enraged.
It didn't occurred to her that the man standing in front of her was actually Jara.
She couldn't even recognize him!
He must have been watching her for a long time as she thought she had been on tenterhooks. Yet, he didn't tell her because he wanted to make fun of her.
He was terrible!
She gnashed her teeth and said, "Why are you here?"
Jara grinned and didn't seem to be in a hurry. He remarked as he fiddled with a strand of hair on her cheek, "Let's not talk about me first. Do you still remember what you said just now? You must keep your word."
Clarissa was astounded. Her heart raced as she remembered that kiss just now, and her blood immediately surged. She wanted to kick him to death now!
Then, she yelled angrily, "Jara, how dare you mention that? Do you wish to die?"
Jara laughed.
He seemed to enjoy infuriating women, which gave him an unexplainable sense of satisfaction.
However, he also knew that even a cute kitten might give him a hard paw if he provoked it.
Thus, he stopped making fun of her and no longer teased her.
Instead, he replied solemnly, "I heard something had happened to you, so I came to see you."
Clarissa frowned suspiciously.
"It's impossible. It takes at least a week to travel here from Ascijan and find this place. How did you manage to arrive so soon?"
"Do you not believe me?" Jara asked, his eyes narrowed.
Clarissa sneered.
"Since you've already got what you want, does it matter if I am dead or alive?"
His eyes instantly turned cold.
He looked at Clarissa, and there were traces of indifference in his eyes.
"So that's what you think?"
Clarissa didn't say anything.
Her pursed lips, on the other hand, revealed a hint of her obstinacy.
Jara gave her a glance. After a long while, he finally let go of her and got up.
The atmosphere was filled with a strange aura. He did not continue to argue on the matter, but his demeanor was much colder than before.
Then he continued, "I have a business to deal with here recently. But I heard something bad had happened to you, so I came here by the way."
This time, Clarissa believed what he said.
Her heart was finally at ease.
Realizing that he was still pressing on her body, she nudged him and whispered, "Get up first."
Since his identity was exposed, Jara was no longer in the mood to tease her.
Once he got up, Clarissa rose from the ground, patted the dust off her body, and asked, "Why are you with them? And what happened to your face?"
His current face made him looked like a farmer, unlike his original face at all.
Upon hearing this, Jara touched his own cheek and responded, "I'm wearing a human skin mask."
"A human skin mask?"
Clarissa's eyes widened in shock.
"That's right."
Jara didn't want to explain anything further and simply stated, "The two siblings come from an ordinary family in the town. The older brother was working for me two days ago."
"When I learned you were in an accident, I analyzed the area where the parachute would most likely fall, and then I disguised myself to come here to check the news."
"As soon as I arrived, I learned that they were planning to sell two girls your age. As a result, I assumed that you two had accidentally fallen into the hands of a human trafficker."
"So I counterplot it. I paid them a fee to take you two to avoid any mistakes during the process."
After hearing his words, Clarissa finally understood why he was here.
She then nodded and said, "I see. Thank you."
Jara narrowed his eyes.
It was the first time Clarissa had thanked him in such a formal manner.
Although Clarissa appeared more courteous, he somehow preferred her to be fierce-looking.
However, it was not a good time to haggle over so much.
"Let's follow the car and head to town first," he suggested, looking at the nearby car.
Clarissa was a little hesitant.
"That person..."
A wry expression soon appeared on Jara's face.
"What's wrong? Are you worried I'll sell you?"
Clarissa pursed her lips.
Of course, she knew that Jara wouldn't sell her off.
However, because she already knew it was Jara, the threat of that person was naturally gone.
In this case, she and Nora could just leave right away. Why did she have to follow them back?
As if he could guess what she was thinking, Jara explained, "Those people have already arrived in town. They should be looking for you all over the place. I still have some matters to resolve and won't be able to leave for the time being, so staying with me is the safest option."
After a brief pause, he stated, "Of course, I'm not going to force you. It's just a suggestion. It's fine if you insist on leaving. But if something goes wrong, I can't be held responsible."
Clarissa glanced at him.
Although she knew that Jara was deliberately provoking her, she calmed down.
She accepted her fate, saying, "Okay, then we'll leave with you. Anyway, let's go to the town first."
Only then did Jara nod his head in satisfaction. He tugged at his crumpled clothes and muttered, "Let's go."
