Chapter 1051 Immortality

He said without hesitation.
Perhaps he felt that what he said was not enough to prove his innocence, so he continued after a brief pause, "I did something to offend them a few days ago, and they drove me out. That's why I have no idea what happened after. Actually, I came here to relax this time."
Hearing this, Anderson had actually believed his words.
Because Luca had no reason to lie to him.
Hence, Anderson nodded and said, "Alright."
Luca looked at him and contemplated saying something but stopped at second thought.
After a while, he summoned the courage to ask, "Is there something wrong?"
Anderson did not try to keep it a secret. In any case, there was nothing to hide.
"He took Clarissa away."
"What?"
Luca was astounded again.
Despite his lack of familiarity with Coby, he was still a member of the Marsh family. Therefore, he encountered Coby more often.
If he were to claim Coby was a bad person from his view, it would not seem so. He'd never seen Coby kill somebody before.
However, to say that he was a good person would be untrue. Because no matter what he did, it was not something a decent person would do.
He had both a good and a bad side to him.
Even so, Luca had never heard of Coby harming an innocent person.
He went to Emmeline and Jara because Emmeline's father had once betrayed him.
As for Emmeline, she just wanted Way Tree to save herself, so they each took what they required.
Rowan, on the other hand, seemed to have been voluntarily subjugated by Coby.
It was reasonable to believe that the two of them would cooperate to do evil things.
Hence, the others were even more astounded by what they had done to Clarissa and Sierra.
Luca stayed silent for a while and said in a low voice, "I really have no idea about this matter, but if he really caught her, it's most likely for the sake of Jade of Heaven. Although I don't know much about him, I'm aware that all fame and money are fleeting clouds in his eyes. He seems to be only interested in Jade of Heaven."
Anderson nodded. "That's what I think too, but we don't know much about him. Also, he's too good at hiding his identity and information. We won't be able to find anything no matter how hard we try. Please let us know about his background if it's convenient for you."
Anderson had never considered Coby to be an ordinary person.
After all, who hadn't heard of the Marsh Family and Rowan?
Since Coby had complete control over them, he was by no means a regular person.
When Luca heard Anderson's words, he widened his eyes in shock.
He suddenly remembered the scene from his first meeting with Coby.
A horrific and unbelievable event had occurred right in front of his eyes.
If he was not sure that it was true, he even suspected that it was a ridiculous dream.
How could someone live for thousands of years and take things from afar? Was he a monster?
Coby's face gradually turned pale as he thought about it.
Anderson, on the other hand, was only testing the waters with a casual question.
In fact, he did not expect to get anything from Luca. After all, Luca was indeed unremarkable in the Marsh Family.
Even if he was chosen to work for Coby this time, Anderson doubted that Coby would disclose anything about himself and his background to Luca.
But now, Anderson did not think so after seeing his face turn glum.
Did he know something?
Realizing this, Anderson darkened his eyes.
Keeping a straight face, he signaled to his men not far away. The men understood and stealthily surrounded Luca.
If he wanted to flee, they could catch him at any time.
However, Luca didn't appear to be planning on escaping.
His garments ruffled in the dim light as he stood there. He was like a kite fluttering through the valley, carrying with him an indescribable sense of helplessness and confusion.
"I can tell you something, but only if you swear to keep it to yourself. Don't tell anyone else that I told you this, whether you believe it or not."
Anderson's heart trembled.
Without thinking, he nodded.
"Okay, I promise."
Luca took a breath and stated softly, "It's not convenient here. Let's find somewhere quiet to talk."
After that, he stepped back.
Anderson naturally followed.
Soon, the two of them entered a secluded private room.
Outside, Anderson had a guard stationed to prevent anyone from approaching or disturbing them. He sat on the futon after that and exchanged glances with Luca.
"Mr. Marsh, it's pretty quiet here, and my men are guarding outside. I'm sure no third person will hear us. Can you tell me now?"
Following that, Luca gave a slight nod.
The tea that was used to entertain guests was found in the room. However, it was unknown how long it had been.
Luca didn't mind either. He poured himself a cup of tea and drank it.
Anderson noticed that Luca didn't appear to be in good spirits since he had brought the condition up.
Even his hand, which was holding the cup, was trembling somewhat at this point.
Seeing this, Anderson secretly frowned. He didn't quite understand what made Luca like this.
However, he knew that Luca was mentally preparing himself, so he could only wait patiently.
About two minutes later, Luca drank a cup of cold tea and forced himself to calm down.
With his head raised, he then looked at Anderson calmly, and asked, "Mr. Jordan, do you believe in immortality?"
Anderson raised his eyebrows.
He didn't expect Luca to ask him this question.
Many people were discussing the matter when Jade of Heaven appeared, whether they believed it or not.
Everyone had their own opinions in their hearts.
Anderson used to be skeptical of such claims.
Until he experienced something...
His eyes grew darker as he pondered this. Then, he answered in a low voice, "I believe it."
In disbelief, Luca stared at him.
It seemed that he didn't expect Anderson to give such an answer.
After a while, he laughed self-deprecatingly again.
Shaking his head, he sighed and added, "I've always thought that you're an Atheist. It turns out you believe in immortality as well."
Anderson's expression was unruffled as he said faintly, "Being an Atheist doesn't mean that one doesn't believe in immortality."
