Chapter 678 Something Happened To Him

Charlotte couldn't help but become cold as she listened and watched.
She felt as if she was punching a heavy fist on a cotton ball.
Somehow, there was a kind of inexpressible annoyance.
The room became silent for a brief moment. After a while, Charlotte took a deep breath and did not argue anymore. She then walked over and sat down across from Sue.
Sue let out a small sigh of relief as she saw her taking a seat.
The fact that Charlotte sat down implied that she was willing to talk to Sue.
There would be hope as long as she was willing to speak to Sue.
Her face softened as she considered this, and she asked, "Charlotte, what would you like to drink?"
"Anything."
Charlotte said faintly, but her demeanor remained cold.
Sue didn't seem to mind. She was a decent coffee maker, so she made Charlotte a cup of Americano.
The coffee smelled great as soon as it was brewed.
She poured two cups with her slender fingers and then extended an invitation gesture.
"Please try a sip of the coffee, Charlotte."
This was the etiquette of the coffee ceremony, so Charlotte did not refuse.
In any case, she wasn't worried that Sue would poison her. Moreover, the coffee was fragrant and smelled pretty good, so she picked it up and took a sip.
Sue looked at her expectantly and inquired, "Charlotte, how is it? Is there a difference from back then?"
Charlotte looked at the cup of coffee and then glanced at Sue, who had a hopeful look on her face. Suddenly, she smiled.
"Do you know what's the most important to taste the coffee?" she asked casually, gently touching the cup's edge with her fingertips.
Sue was stunned.
After thinking for a while, she frowned slightly and tentatively replied, "Calmness?"
"No."
Charlotte set the cup down and crossed her hands in front of her, silently looking at Sue.
Her face was bright with a friendly smile, but her eyes were filled with indifference and scorn.
"It's the person."
"The person?"
Sue was a bit stupefied.
Then, Charlotte continued to say, "Yes, the coffee maker. If the coffee maker has a high moral character, then the coffee will definitely taste good. Do you agree with me?"
As soon as she finished her sentence, Sue's face suddenly turned pale.
Her entire body trembled a little, and she seemed to have felt a tingling pain in her heart.
She shook her head, suppressing the tears that were about to fall, and said, "Maybe you're right, Charlotte, but I don't want things to remain like this. Are you still unwilling to forgive me after all these years?"
"Forgive you?"
Charlotte looked at Sue as if she had heard a big joke.
Then, she sneered and said, "Forgiving you? Do you think you are qualified to talk about that, based on your previous actions and your return with an uncertain purpose?"
Her words were loud and powerful, making Sue feel a great shock.
Those agonizing memories from the past reappeared in her head, immediately turning her eyes red.
With a tearful voice, she shook her head and said, "You misunderstood me, Charlotte. I really didn't mean to do that. I admit that I was young and ignorant at that time, and I indeed liked Buckley. But at the time, I had no idea he was your fiancé."
"Although I was adopted at the time, I lived outside for years. I didn't know that you guys had been together for a long time. I would never fall in love with him if I knew."
Charlotte's face turned completely cold.
She stared coldly at Sue and said in a deep voice, "Oh? Is that so? So, you're admitting that you're still in love with him now, right?"
Sue's body immediately became sluggish.
Charlotte's eyes were as cold as ice, and it seemed as though they were about to freeze Sue.
Suddenly, Sue broke into a sad smile at the thought of something.
"Does it even matter if I like him or not? I would not have liked him in the first place if I had known there would be a day like this, and I would never have done such a thing."
As she spoke, she paused for a moment, as if to ease her emotions a little.
"Charlotte, I know you hate me, but it was you who brought me back from the jaws of death 26 years ago," she said, her voice much gentler than before as she tried to remain calm.
"I know deep down in your heart that you will never want to see me again. But I still returned. My purpose is not to get anything back, but..."
She lowered her head and pulled a document from her bag as she spoke.
"I can't survive any much longer. This is the doctor's notice of the critical condition. I have cancer, and it is incurable. But I'm already content because I would have drowned in the sea 26 years ago."
"Only because of your mercy am I able to survive now. So, this time I came back to repay you."
Looking at the notice of cancer, Charlotte was shocked.
"Is this real?" she asked in a low voice, looking up at Sue in disbelief.
Sue nodded and then forced a smile.
"You don't have to feel sorry for me. I am very content that I can live 20 years longer. It's just that I want to return before I die and tell you the truth about what happened in the past."
Charlotte frowned deeply.
She looked at Sue, and her gaze was tinged with coldness and a range of emotions.
"What do you have to say?"
Sue was staring at her with a determined expression on her face. "Buckley and I didn't do anything on that night 26 years ago, Charlotte. The reason you saw us lying naked together when you came in was that..."
However, before she could finish her words, Charlotte's phone suddenly rang.
Charlotte frowned and raised her hand, interrupting Sue. Then, she picked up her phone and put it through.
Charlotte's expression changed drastically shortly after the call was connected.
She abruptly stood up from the seat and exclaimed, "What? Say it clearly! I'll be right there!"
As she spoke, she grabbed her bag and dashed out the door.
Sue was perplexed by Charlotte's words, so she subconsciously asked, "Charlotte, what's wrong?"
Charlotte didn't have time to explain to her. "Something happened to Buckley," she just left a sentence."
After that, she had already exited the door.
When Sue heard these words, her expression couldn't help but change as well.
She immediately stood up and followed Charlotte out.
At this time, on the other side.
In the hospital.
Buckley was lying on a stretcher. A group of people surrounded him and pushed him at a tremendous speed.
He was pushed into the operating room, and the door was promptly closed, illuminating with red light.
His assistant was standing outside the operating room, with blood on his chest and hands. His whole face was pale, and he still hadn't come back to his senses.
