Chapter 1057 Not Worth It

All of a sudden, the memories in her mind flashed back to ten years ago.
Clarissa, who was 18 at the time, had just arrived in F Country. She didn't have any relatives or money. She could only rely on the meager pocket money Sierra had previously left for her.
However, the amount was naturally small because it was pocket money. She was living alone in a foreign country and needed to pay for her rent and food.
As a result, she had to go to work.
Fortunately, a senior introduced her to a job at that time. Their cruise ship needed a part-time server. In the end, Clarissa went since it did not interfere with her studies.
However, Clarissa seemed to see something she shouldn't have seen on that trip.
What exactly was it? She couldn't recall anything.
But she seemed to have heard a gunshot or something.
Because she lost her memory for three months after waking up later, she couldn't recall the memory on the cruise ship.
Clarissa's headache grew every time she tried to forcefully recall this memory as if her entire head was about to explode.
Afterward, Clarissa didn't want to think about it because of the painful experience.
However, she gradually began to have weird dreams.
For example, she had a dream that she was tethered with ropes and thrown into the sea.
In another dream, it appeared that a man was swept away by the sea's whirlpool to save her.
That man's face was occasionally Anderson's, but other times it was the face of a stranger.
Not knowing why, Clarissa assumed it was because she had placed too much faith in Anderson in her heart, and as a result, she subconsciously thought Anderson had saved her.
After all, she had dreamed of other different faces countless times in the following days.
Clarissa was remarkably disturbed by her dreams.
So, in the past two years, she had attempted to visit F Country to learn the truth.
However, she returned without any results. Later, she encountered the matter of the Icarus Association. The plane she and Nora were in was then shot down and crashed. After they were finally saved, and she had other encounters in Ascijan.
Furthermore, she had not had that dream in a long time, so she did not pursue the matter further.
Whatever the truth of the matter was, in her opinion, it was the past.
Since she couldn't find out the truth no matter how hard she tried, she might as well give up.
Clarissa was very optimistic. Yet, she didn't expect such a thing to come out of someone's mouth today after all these years of letting go.
How did Coby know about this matter?
As soon as she thought of this problem, she couldn't help but feel a chill down her spine.
This was because she had only told Anderson about the situation. No one else knew about it.
Anderson couldn't tell anyone about this.
Therefore, how did Coby know about this?
Thinking of this, Clarissa couldn't understand it and frowned.
After listening to her story, Sierra found it hard to believe.
"A memory that had been lost for only three months... This is weird enough as it is. Is it possible that something happened throughout the course of those three months? You can't recall because you subconsciously didn't want to remember it?"
Looking at Sierra, Clarissa then nodded.
"Maybe. I went to see a doctor specifically because of this. According to the doctor, there were two possibilities: physiological or psychological."
"I might have been injured, and there was a blood clot that constricted my memory nerves. In fact, this situation is much easier to deal with. I can recall it as long as the blood clot in my brain is scattered."
"But I had a full-body check-up, and there was no blood clot in my brain, ruling out the first possibility. Maybe I was overstimulated at the time that it affected me. It's also possible that because it was a painful experience, my consciousness drove me to forget it."
"This is a far more complex issue. And I feel that your current situation is similar to mine. They're both psychological issues."
Sierra nodded.
"But how did Coby get wind of it? Did he know you ten years ago? Or did he witness what had happened to you?"
Clarissa's eyes sank slightly upon hearing Sierra's words.
In a heavy voice, she replied, "I don't know either. But, whatever the reason, I can't pretend to do nothing now that he's mentioned it."
Looking at her indifferent expression, Sierra was a little worried.
"Then what do you plan to do?"
Clarissa sneered. "Didn't he say he knew Anderson's secret? He also said that Anderson was the one who wanted to kill me ten years ago. Since that's the case, then I'll agree to his conditions. Isn't it just a deal? Do you think I'm afraid of him?"
On the other hand, Sierra wasn't as positive as her.
She shook her head and expressed her concerns, "In my opinion, people like Coby will not let themselves suffer losses. Since he threatens you with this, maybe Anderson really..."
"Even if Coby did nothing, getting what you want from him will be difficult. Whatever happened ten years ago has already passed, Clarissa. Don't let the past get in the way of your future. It's not worth it."
Although Sierra's mind wasn't particularly brilliant most of the time, she was crystal clear in vital situations.
After listening to her, Clarissa went silent for a while.
In the end, she nodded heavily.
"I know, Mom. Don't worry. I'm not that stupid."
In fact, although she said so, she secretly wished to compete with him.
Because she was completely confident in Anderson in her heart.
She did not believe that Anderson would harm her or even hunt her down.
Hence, she believed Coby was lying. Even if they had met back then, Anderson would not murder her. There might be some misunderstanding.
Her face grew gloomy at the thought of this.
After all, one thing could not be denied, regardless of whether it was a misunderstanding or a fact.
If Coby was telling the truth, she and Anderson met ten years ago, yet Anderson never stopped her when she tried to look into the events of ten years ago.
