Chapter 661 To Cook Personally
Those rich women would never enter the kitchen, let alone cook.
Anyway, they were used to it. After all, the kitchen was like their second home, and they were to make whatever the bosses wanted.
However, they did not expect that over here at Evelyn's house, she actually said she wanted to cook in person.
Seeing that she picked up the menu, Sina realized Evelyn was being serious.
Immediately, she asked in a panic, "Ma'am, if you want to eat Catfish Stew, we can replace this dish with that. You don't need you to cook it personally."
"If you have any opinions on the taste, just say it directly. We will do our best to make it, so you really don't need to do it personally."
Looking at them, Evelyn smiled.
"You've misunderstood me. I don't have any opinions on your cooking skills. I just..."
With a pause, she seemed to think of something, and the smile on her face turned gentler.
"I just want to try it on the spur of the moment. You don't have to be so nervous. Go ahead and do your own things. If I need any help, I will definitely let you know."
Upon hearing this, everyone was relieved to know that it was not because she disliked their cooking that she wanted to cook it personally.
With a nod, Sina said, "Ma'am, in that case, be careful. I'll take out the ingredients you want for you."
Hearing that, Evelyn nodded. "Okay, sorry to trouble you."
"Not at all. This is what I should do."
After Sina took out the fish and clean it properly, Evelyn began to cook the Catfish Stew according to the recipe.
Sina didn't know that Evelyn could cook. At first, she was a little worried. She thought that if Evelyn couldn't cook, they would have to clean up the mess.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she started, she found that Evelyn not only knew how to cook, she also did it very skillfully and cleanly. She did not look like a spoiled child at all.
Seeing that, everyone was very surprised. After the fish was marinated for about 20 minutes, she began to boil the fish.
While frying the fish, she was happily chatting with Sina. "Don't underestimate this step. It has to be boil to the point where the fish completely fall apart, but it can't be overcooked, so it doesn't ruin the taste. In fact, controlling the fire is the key."
At that point, Sina had already known that Evelyn was good at cooking, so not only she was praising her but also respected her from the bottom of her heart.
Returning a smile, she replied, "Yes, that's right. If you overcook it, you'll burn it. If it's undercook, it would be tasteless. It's definitely not an easy task."
Hearing that, Evelyn smiled. After she was done boiling the fish, she began adding other ingredients.
Usually, the kitchen crew would be busy in the kitchen, and they seldom went out. In addition, Evelyn had a busy schedule, so she didn't stay at home as much. Therefore, they seldom had a chance to spend time together.
It was also because of this that, in the absence of understanding her, the servants thought that she was the kind of person who was very difficult to get along with.
Just like the other rich women whom they had served before.
But they didn't expect that after interacting with her, they found that Evelyn was so amiable and so easy-going.
She didn't put on airs like a rich woman or a celebrity at all.
At that moment, everyone couldn't help but feel extremely surprised, and they liked her even more now.
As Evelyn began stewing the fish, she called Marty and asked him to come back early for dinner in the evening.
Marty knew that Evelyn would come home today.
But he didn't know that she was cooking in person.
After promising her on the phone that he would come back earlier, as expected, he arrived home before six o'clock in the afternoon.
Seeing that it was almost time, Evelyn started to order the servants to serve the dishes.
Of course, the dishes were full of color, aroma, and taste.
As there were only two of them, both Evelyn and Marty did not like to waste food. Therefore, even though it was a lavish meal, the portion was particularly small.
While Marty glanced at them casually, he didn't pay much attention to the food.
However, when he saw the Catfish Stew at the center of the dining table, he was stunned.
There were so many servants at home, and he often ate at home, so he was very familiar with the cooking styles of the cooks.
Although he hadn't tasted the fish yet, he could tell from its color and style that it wasn't made by the cook.
Then, he looked up at Evelyn, smiling through his eyes.
"Did you cook that?"
Evelyn's eyes lit up and didn't deny it.
"Mmm, I was bored when I came home, so I casually cook it. Why don't you give it a try?"
Sitting down while smiling, Marty picked up his spoon and tasted it.
After tasting it, he had to admit that the taste was very good.
The aroma of the fish along with the vegetables together created a unique taste.
On the surface, Evelyn didn't seem to care, but in truth, she was very concerned about his comments.
Seeing that he had tasted it, she looked at him nervously and asked, "How is it? Is it good?"
Looking at her, after a moment, Marty nodded with a smile. "It's very delicious."
It was only then that Evelyn smiled in relief.
"Since it's delicious, then you should eat more."
As she spoke, she took more for him.
That evening, because Marty was in a good mood, he ate an extra bowl of rice.
After dinner, he felt that he had eaten too much, so he took Evelyn to have a walk in the yard.
In front of Lavender Villa was a large garden with beautiful scenery and good air.
While the two of them walked hand in hand, Marty asked her. "How long is your break this time?"
Then, Evelyn counted with her fingers. "Hmm... Three days."
Upon hearing that, Marty frowned.
"Only three days?"
In response, Evelyn nodded. "Yes, I have to attend a variety show. It will be in the countryside, and I might be away for 20 days."
When Marty heard those words, he was immediately displeased.
As he saw a pavilion nearby, he walked over with Evelyn. Sitting down, he held her on his lap.
Then, he looked at her and said, "Evelyn, aren't you a little too tired to run around like this?"
Hearing that, Evelyn was stunned.
Tired?
It didn't seem to be the case either.
The intensity and density of work in the entertainment industry were beyond the imagination of an ordinary person.
Fortunately, she had a good boss like Clarissa.
Clarissa was unlike the managers in other brokerage companies, who only used artists as a tool to make money. As long as the artists had business value, they would exploit them.
With regard to this, Starlight was more humane.
Every time they completed a big flaming, they would be given a few days off to regain their state.
Unlike other companies, most would continue with other projects one after another without a break in between. The artists were like a spinning top, being whipped around by the brokerage companies.
As long as they continue whipping, the spinning top couldn't stop, nor did they have the right to call for it to stop.
