Chapter 331 You're Really Silly

Anderson was also aware of this news, but he was not so worried about it compared to Clarissa.
"If Jaden could act on his own accord, he wouldn't submit to his family. If he succumbed, it only means that he didn't have the ability to be independent and didn't have the determination from the very beginning. Even if he didn't marry Lara, he would have married another woman too. Either way, it would just be an exchange of interests. There is no difference."
Clarissa was still a little worried.
"But she..."
Anderson looked at her deeply and pinched her palm gently.
"Don't be afraid." He said in a soft voice, "The Holland Family and the Jordan Family are already taking opposite stances. Besides, even if Lara is married to Jaden, there is no possibility for the two of you to reconcile for what she had done to you in the past. Therefore, whether they get married or not will not change the fact that you are enemies."
Clarissa looked up at him with a trace of worry on her expression.
"Is it really okay? If the Levine family really joins forces with the Holland family, can you deal with them alone?"
Anderson smiled.
He reached out and held her face gently while caressing her cheese. After a while, he said softly, "As long as you stand by me, I can."
Clarissa's heart skipped a beat.
Anderson's gaze at her was so gentle and firm at the same time. It somehow calmed her down.
Clarissa reached out and gently wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her face against his chest.
"I'll always be by your side. No matter what happens, we'll always be together."
Anderson's lips curled into a smile.
"Don't worry. Even if the Holland family plans to do something to us, it won't happen in these two days. They won't take action until the end of the holidays at least. So you should take a good rest during this period of time, okay?"
Clarissa nodded before she muttered, "Yes."
......
On the other side, Visstead.
On New Year's day, the Jones family was naturally bustling with activity.
As Dexter was the business leader of Visstead, there was a stream of visitors at the Jones family.
As the heir of the Jones Family, Alex naturally had to accompany Dexter to entertain the guests.
The servants at home had been swamped. From the kitchen to the dining hall, they almost did not stop working.
Lauren, who had nothing much to do, was the most free person in the house.
She could not be bothered to entertain those guests. Thus, Lauren did not go downstairs. She even got the servant to send lunch to her room.
Dexter was busy dealing with the guests and did not bother to pay attention to her. On the other hand, Alex had sent someone to look for Lauren and asked if she wanted to come downstairs, since a lot of elders from the company were here. As the younger generation, Lauren would at least have to go down there to meet them since she was back in Visstead.
But Lauren had turned him down.
She didn't want to get involved in the company's affairs. It was enough for Dexter and Alex to be in charge of them.
Therefore, Lauren was too lazy to go and meet them.
Alex felt helpless, but he also knew his sister's temper, so he didn't want to force her.
As Lauren was not willing to help them out, they were unable to manage so many guests at once even when there were so many servants in the house.
Dexter booked a private room in a nearby five-star hotel, ready to bring everyone to dinner at night.
Lauren did not want to go so she stayed in her room to watch drama.
Dexter was still in a cold war with Lauren, so he ignored her. Anyway, there were servants at home and ready-made meals. She would not be starved to death. So when it was dinner time, he went out with the guests.
Hearing the noise outside had gradually subsided, Lauren turned off the iPad in front of her and closed her eyes for a while before she came out of the room in slippers.
When the servant saw that she had finally left the room, she hurried over before Lauren.
"Miss Lauren, where are you going?"
Lauren waved her hand casually. "Don't worry about me. I'm just walking around."
Seeing this, the servant did not ask any more questions, so she turned around and left.
Lauren came to the study and started looking around.
She didn't manage to find her contract.
Lauren was no doubt Dexter's biological daughter. Nonetheless, Dexter could be ruthless even towards his own daughter.
If Lauren wanted to go back to filming but free from Dexter's control, she had to find the contract first.
However, even after rummaging through the entire study room, Lauren still could not find it.
After searching for a long time, Lauren got impatient. She straightened her body. Just when she was about to call her brother to ask if he had seen that contract before, she turned around and saw Alex standing at the door.
She was shocked and patted herself on the chest.
"Alex! What are you doing here? You scared me."
Alex shook his head helplessly.
He stepped over and tidied up the mess Lauren had made. He then said, "Stop wasting your energy. Dexter has kept your contract away. Without his permission, no one can get it. He has long been on guard against you, so it was obvious that he won't leave such a thing at home."
Lauren stared blankly for a moment before she frowned.
"Even you don't know where it is?"
Alex shook his head honestly. "I have no clue"
Lauren was a little angry.
"What is he trying to do? Does he really want to drive me into a corner?"
Alex smiled.
"You've got the wrong idea. Dexter did it for your own good."
Lauren put on a cold face and turned her face away.
Seeing her stubborn look, Alex could not help sighing.
"We have our own reasons for not letting you to be with that man. But you didn't listen to us and went on to elope with him and got yourself pregnant. But that's alright.
However, in the past year, have you ever called us or cared about your family? Dexter is not angry about you and that man. He is mad because her daughter, who he has raised for so many years, has chosen to fall out with the family because of a guy. If it were you, would you feel anguish? Would you be disappointed?"
Lauren's eyes reddened in an instant.
She pursed her lips and lowered her head to wipe the corners of her eyes.
After a moment, Lauren muttered, "It's not that I don't want to contact him."
The only problem was that every time she called home, she would be given a scolding. As time went by, she was too lazy to call him anymore.
Alex burst into laughter and shook his head helplessly.
He reached out his hand and patted her head. He sounded quite helpless.
"My silly sister, you're really silly."
Lauren was choked with sobs and did not know what to say.
Alex turned around and took out a contract from one of the interlayers in the drawer before handing it to her.
Lauren was stunned. She took the contract from Alex. When she saw the contents of the contract, she widened her eyes in shock.
"Didn't you say you don't know..."
Alex shrugged. "I really don't know. I didn't steal it for you too. So if Dexter asks, you can't betray me. Otherwise, I will disown you in the future."
Lauren was taken aback. After a while, she finally came to his senses and rushed forward to give Alex a hug.
"Alex, thank you."
