Chapter 994 The Exceptional Ghost Doctor

Even without Mr. Jenkins' interpretation, the child could read Sierra's expression.
However, he remained quiet. Instead, he bowed his head and bit his lips.
As Mr. Jenkins watched, he felt uneasy in his heart.
With a deep sigh, he explained, "These children are orphans. Ashax is unlike our country. Many of the orphans here are refugees and homeless. They live hungry on the streets. None will offer them jobs, let alone go to school.
Only then, Sierra understood the situation, and she showed pain on her face.
She thought for a while and opened her handbag. Then, she handed all the money to the child.
"Take this. It's not much, but that's all I can do. Take care of yourself, and don't do this again."
The youth was taken aback and raised his head to look at her.
Seeing the child's hesitation, Mr. Jenkins directed, "What are you waiting for? Take the offer."
Quickly, the child reacted and took the money. He then ran off.
As he watched the child run off, Robert frowned and said, "Sierra, you're too kindhearted."
His words surprised Sierra, and she explained,
"I'm not being too kind. It's just that there are too many pitiful people in this world. He was just a child, yet he has to suffer so much!"
She heaved a big sigh.
Clarissa was happy to see Jara and the others approaching. However, she didn't want Sierra to be sad about the young thief.
Quickly, she switched the topic to Jara and the others. She called out to Jara.
"Jara, why are you here?"
With a smile, Jara replied, "We're here for some matters."
Then, he paused for a moment, pointed to Sierra and the others, and asked, "Aren't you going to introduce them?"
Clarissa hurriedly made the introductions, "Oh, this is my mother. This is Mr. Lane, my mother's husband."
Jara was taken aback.
His doubts were clear on his face.
Jara could not figure out how Clarissa had a mother who was the wife of his long-lost classmate.
As he wondered if this was Clarissa's godmother, Sierra smiled and introduced herself, "Hi, I'm Sierra."
Her words gave Jara a violent shudder.
After a period of counseling with Clarissa, Sierra was no longer afraid of strangers.
So, Sierra had no problem introducing herself to Jara and the others.
On the other hand, Jara was still shocked.
In obvious disbelief, he turned and asked Clarissa, "Isn't she..."
Clarissa pursed her lips and replied, "It's a long story. One day, I'll tell you the whole thing."
Still stunned, Jara nodded. Of course, they could not part without having a drink and catching up. So, they decided to go back to the hotel and have a coffee at a nearby cafe.
Seeing that they had matters to discuss, Mr. Jenkins left tactfully.
At the cafe, they occupied a private room. When everyone was seated comfortably, Clarissa began her account of how she and her mother reconciled.
When Clarissa finished, Jara was astounded.
After he had thought it through, he did not think it was impossible.
At the time Sierra was presumed to be dead, many people attempted but failed to locate her corpse.
It was a seasonal flood back then, and the water in the river was flowing very fast. After two weeks or more, there were still no new leads. Everyone agreed that Sierra must have been washed away by the waters. No one knew where in the river or the sea did she end up. From then on, no one followed up on this matter.
During this time, Clarissa was in some trouble overseas. After Jara rescued her, she told him about this.
It seemed that good deeds would be rewarded.
Sierra did not die.
Jara knew too well how important this was to Clarissa and was very happy for her.
It was time to talk about Jara and Emmeline, now that Clarissa had finished with Sierra's story.
Since Sierra and Robert were families, Anderson did not conceal the identities of Jara and Emmeline.
Without beating the bush, Anderson asked, "Are you in Ashrax country for the Jade of Heaven matters?"
Jara nodded his head.
He took a sip of tea from the cup in front of him before continuing, "We received news that someone here has a piece of the Jade of Heaven. It was dug out from an ancient tomb. We're here to check out the news."
It was Anderson's turn to be surprised, "An ancient tomb?"
"Yes. There are no specific details as yet. All I have is the general direction of the tomb. My acquaintances are making inquiries. There should be news within these next couple of days."
After listening intently, Anderson smiled and asked, "Whereabouts is the ancient tomb?"
Jara answered, "Some time ago, an ancient tomb of a king was unearthed in the vicinity of the jade mines."
As soon as he said this, Anderson's face lit up with interest.
"Jade mines?" Anderson chuckled and proposed, "You scout around first. Let me know if you need any help."
Jara did not notice his sudden interest and nodded.
"All right, I'll take note. I'll look for you when the time comes."
Then, they enjoyed the tea and talked about Clarissa's pregnancy.
Both Jara and Emmeline were happy for Clarissa and expressed their best wishes.
Clarissa was concerned about Emmeline's health and was glad that Emmeline's complexion was normal. Emmeline was taking Coby's medicine as prescribed. The unfortunate medical condition at the wedding did not happen again. Clarissa was relieved when she got to know all these.
They chatted happily till midnight before they left.
On the way back, Clarissa clutched Anderson's arm and asked, "Do you think Coby is lying? What if Emmeline's illness is not hereditary like what he said? Since Mr. Lane is here, why don't we let him take a look at Emmeline? Who knows, he may have a different opinion?"
Anderson smiled and replied, "I don't think Coby lied. Jara did hire another doctor to look at Emmeline, and he cannot find the cause either. All members of the Marsh family know about the inherited illness. Coby would not be able to fabricate such a lie. It will be too easily exposed."
His explanation sounded reasonable to Clarissa, and she nodded, "That's true."
Suddenly, Anderson agreed, "But, you have a point. Mr. Lane is widely known as the Ghost Doctor. His treatment methods are unorthodox and contrary to traditional medical practices. That is why he is not well-liked in the medical community. Sometimes, these unorthodox treatments are more effective. We should let him take a look at Emmeline."
Smiling happily, Clarissa said, "Alright, I'll talk to Robert later and ask him to take a look at Emmeline tomorrow."
Anderson thought for a moment.
"There's no hurry. Let's ask Jara first and see if he's willing to let Emmeline take another examination."
Clarissa nodded.
Then, the two of them made a call to Jara.
In fact, Jara had already planned the same when he first met Mr. Lane.
