Chapter 964 Telling Her About the Investment

Needless to ask, if Chantel was to ask for money, she would have to go to Anderson.
However, Chantel did not dare to go directly to Anderson. After all, everybody knew her nephew was known to be very good at reasoning, and he would never reason with his aunt.
Sometimes, he was so harsh to her that she doubted if he was still the nephew she knew since he was a child.
However, it was common for men to behave that way after they got married. It was not surprising for them to forget their own mother after having a wife.
Therefore, she couldn't tell Anderson about this matter directly. She had to talk to Clarissa first so she could assess the situation beforehand.
So, Chantel made up her mind and drove directly to Energence International Crop.
At this time of the day, Clarissa was still at work.
Straight away, she dialed Clarissa's number, and as soon as Clarissa picked up, she smiled in a friendly manner and asked, "Clarissa, are you at work?"
On the other end of the call, Clarissa was a little surprised. "Yes. Aunt Chantel, what can I do for you?"
"It's nothing. It's almost noon and I want to ask you out for lunch. Can we go to the vegetarian restaurant near your company? I know that you like to have a light meal. They serve light food there."
In surprise, Clarissa chuckled and said, "Aunt Chantel, if you have something to say, just say it. I have a meeting later. I'm afraid I won't be able to take the time."
"What? You are a human, and humans need to eat. Can you have the meeting after lunch? And you are pregnant now, so you shouldn't be working too hard. I don't care, I want you to come out and have lunch with me. I will be waiting for you in the vegetarian restaurant I told you just now. You must come."
After that, she hung up the phone directly.
Clarissa didn't expect her to react this way. Looking at the screen of the phone, she couldn't help but laugh helplessly.
In the meantime, Millie came in and put a stack of reports on her desk, then said, "Boss, these are Starlight's last quarter's report. Please have a look."
Upon hearing that, Clarissa nodded and looked at the time again.
"I'll look again in the afternoon. I have to go out right now. I'll get back to you directly through the email after I finish reading them."
Millie nodded, then Clarissa took her coat and her bag, and left the company.
When she arrived at the vegetarian restaurant, she found that Chantel was already sitting inside, and had even ordered for her.
The food smelt really delicious in the private box as Chantel smiled and uttered, "Clarissa, you're here. Sit down. There are all kinds of your favorite food, and they're especially good for pregnant women, so they won't affect your health. Don't worry."
Upon hearing that, Clarissa sat down in front of her, smiling, "Aunt Chantel, why are you in such a good mood today and invite me to lunch?"
Chantel's lips curved awkwardly while her hands that were hidden under the table were clasped together nervously.
"Erm... I know that I haven't been very good to you in recent years. You know I am old and my temper can be an issue sometimes. You have to understand that what I said last time at your house was just out of impulse. You can't take it seriously., and don't be angry with me because of what I said."
With a pause, Clarissa broke into a smile.
"Aunt Chantel, don't worry, I'm not angry."
"That's good, that's good." Chantel glanced at her and hurriedly added, "Let's eat first. We can talk after lunch."
Seeing this, Clarissa didn't force her.
She had been busy all morning and was hungry too. If Chantel hadn't called her, she would have eaten in the company.
Anderson didn't want her to work so hard, but she enjoyed working, so he couldn't stop her.
But now that she was pregnant, she wouldn't eat takeout. Therefore, Anderson arranged a small kitchen for her in the company. He would force her to stop working when it was time to eat, so she would have a balance intake of nutrients.
The two of them ate silently. Although Chantel had a lot of shortcomings, at the end of the day, she grew up in the Jordan family. Needless to say, her level of living was up to par, and had good table etiquette.
Therefore, apart from the sound of chewing, no one spoke for a while.
When they were done eating, Clarissa placed down her cutlery and wiped her mouth with a piece of tissue, then looked at Chantel who was in front of her.
"Now that we've finished eating, you can go straight to the point. I have to go back to the company soon, so I can't stay here for too long."
Seeing this, Chantel quickly put down cutlery as well. She did not beat around the bush and said directly, "I went to a stone gambling event today and met with the boss who developed the mine. He told me he found a jade mine in Ashax that had not been mined before, and he would like to collaborate with me to purchase the land."
Upon hearing that, Clarissa raised her eyebrows.
Chantel continued. "Clarissa, you know that I have done a lot of business these years, but none of them have been successful. Although I don't have to worry about putting a roof over my head, I always feel that there is something missing in my life, and I feel very dull. I think this is a good opportunity, and I really want to give it a go, but there is a slight problem with the funding."
With a smile, Clarissa asked, "Do you know the location of the mine in Ashax?"
Shaking her head, Chantel answered. "I've asked him, but he refused to tell me. He said that he wouldn't tell me unless I had the ability to invest in it. I'm short of money, so I came back to work things out."
After hearing her explanation, Clarissa nodded.
In terms of the jade mining industry, Clarissa knew a lot about it because Jameson's family used to build their business in this sector.
She knew that an undiscovered mine was a very precious resource. In general, to avoid someone from fighting for it, any information about it would be confidential and would not leak to the public easily.
After some thought, she then asked, "How much more do you need?"
When Chantel heard the question, she was a little nervous. "The other party had requested 15 billion, and now I only have... 4 billion."
Upon hearing the number, Clarissa was shocked.
"15 billion? So much?"
Seeing her reaction, Chantel smiled awkwardly.  "Yes, it's a little bit much, but let's think about it from another angle. If the investment is big, it means that the mine is big too. Otherwise, why would an ordinary mining company need so much money?"
Clarissa thought about her explanation and agreed with her.
But still, she felt a little doubtful, so she replied lightly, "This is a huge amount. I can't make the decision on my own. If you really want to invest in it, I'm afraid you have to talk to Anderson."
Chantel nodded repeatedly. "I know, I know. It involves such a large sum of money. I won't ask you for it. I will talk to Anderson soon. It's just that, you know, Anderson doesn't trust me very much. He only trusts you. If I ask him, he will not agree with me. Now, my parents favor him and only care about their precious grandson. As the daughter, I don't even have a place in their heart. That's why I have no choice but to come to you. Clarissa, I don't ask for anything else. I just hope that you can put in a word for me when I talk to Anderson. Can you do that?"
As Clarissa looked at her, she saw Chantel cautiously pleading to her, which in any case, a very rare scene to look at as Chantel had always been arrogant.
