Chapter 840 Special Invitation
That was, the culprit knew very well about Emmeline's living habits and condition. Besides, he or she had the opportunity to enter the kitchen. If it was Lilly who poisoned her, she could've put the arsenic directly into her meals. After all, she was the one who filled Emmeline's meal in separate plates before passing it to Yunne.
Why would she poison the lemon?
Emmeline was puzzled.
At that moment, she had a conjecture in her mind, but there was no way to confirm it. Therefore, she could only leave it for now.
When she had the chance later, she would find the answer.
Just then, while she was contemplating, there was a car engine sound coming from downstairs.
Upon hearing that, she was stunned. As the car did not pass by her balcony, she could not see who it was. However, the engine voice was getting louder, so she guessed that someone was driving in.
Since she couldn't fall asleep, she decided to go out and have a look.
With that, she changed her clothes, sat in her wheelchair, and headed out.
Meanwhile, in the living room of the main building.
Isaac Mills walked in with a smile on his face. Upon entering the living room, he saw a few servants quietly cleaning things, and he asked, "Where's Mr. Holland?"
Everyone knew that Isaac was a close friend of Jara. Therefore, when they saw him, they were respectful toward him.
"He is in his room upstairs," one of the servants replied with a soft voice.
After hearing that, Isaac nodded and went upstairs.
Everyone did not stop him because Jara had mentioned that Isaac was one of his own. So, if Isaac came, he could directly go and find Jara.
Isaac walked all the way to the second floor. Unexpectedly, instead of Jara, he saw Emmeline coming out of her room.
For a while, he was surprised before he greeted her with a smile, "Hey, Emmeline. It's been a long time since we last met."
With a pause, he swept his gaze across her wheelchair and her pair of slender legs. Then, his eyes darkened.
"I heard that you were injured, and I wanted to visit you, but Jara did not allow me to do so. How are you feeling now? Are you recovering well?"
When Emmeline woke up from injury, she did hear that Isaac wanted to see her.
However, at that time, she and Jara hadn't identified the murderer. Moreover, she was in a bad mood because Keira had just died. So, she didn't meet Isaac.
With a faint smile, she replied to Isaac, "Yes, I feel much better. What brings you here today?"
Isaac smiled as he raised his hand and waved an invitation card that he was holding.
"I'm here to give Jara a wedding invitation."
Upon seeing the invitation, Emmeline was surprised.
Before she could speak, Jara's room door was pushed open from the inside.
Jara, who was wearing black silk pajamas, walked out to the door.
Needless to say, he had the bearing to charm women.
As he stood there leisurely, he looked slim and handsome. At the same time, the sunlight entered through the window at the end of the long corridor and shone on him, making him look more handsome and extraordinary.
He glanced at Emmeline and then looked at Isaac.
Then, his gaze deepened. "Both of you come in with me."
Right away, the two of them turned around and entered his room.
To be honest, even though Emmeline used to date Jara for a long time and recently lived in the castle, this was her first time entering his room.
The moment she entered his room, she discovered that the whole room was different from what she imagined. She expected his room to be furnished in a dark color theme.
On the contrary, light warm colors adorned his room, and it was totally different from his style.
After Jara walked to the sofa and sat down, he looked at Isaac. "Who's getting married?"
With a smile, Isaac walked over and put the wedding invitation on the table.
"See it yourself."
Jara's fingers paused. After a while, he reached out to take the wedding invitation card.
As soon as he opened it and looked at it, his eyes narrowed.
While crossing his arm, Isaac smiled and hinted, "You owe me a big one, buddy. I spent a lot of effort to get this wedding invitation for you."
On the other hand, Emmeline was close to Jara, so she could easily read the name on the wedding invitation.
Noel Marsh.
What a familiar name.
As she frowned, she secretly recalled this name in her mind, and soon she got an answer.
The Marsh Family was a large clan that had existed outside of the country for over a century.
In fact, this family had existed for more than a few centuries, or even more than a thousand years.
Unlike other big families, this family was very mysterious. They also had a strict member system that only belonged to them.
However, as they had always kept a low profile, they would only spend most of their time doing business and wouldn't mess around with anyone at will.
Therefore, although they were a family with a thousand-year history, they didn't stand out in all the aspects other than wealth among all the big families.
As for Noel, Emmeline remembered that he seemed to be an important member of the Marsh Family.
In fact, the Marsh Family had an unwritten rule—their family members could only invite a few people who were very close to them to their wedding.
Moreover, people from the outside world were not allowed to attend.
Regardless of social status or influence, if they were outsiders, they wouldn't stand a chance to attend any of the Marsh Family's banquet.
Hence, even though Jara was powerful, it was impossible for him to attend their wedding.
Even so, Isaac was different.
His mother was a distant descendant of the Marsh Family. Although they were distant relatives, at least they had the blood of the Marsh Family flowing in them.
Therefore, it wasn't difficult for him to get a wedding invitation. All he needed to do was to think of a way to beg his mother.
But who would have thought that this invitation was actually for Jara?
With eyes full of perplexity, Emmeline stared at Jara.
Obviously, Jara didn't intend to explain anything to her now. He just put away the wedding invitation and said to Isaac, "Thank you. I'll treat you to a meal later."
"Sure!" Isaac smiled and replied.
He didn't ask for more. Right after that, he took out another set of invitation cards from his chest pocket.
"I've completed your request. So now, it's my turn to request the both of you."
Emmeline and Jara were surprised. In Isaac's hand, there were two invitation cards. Those were birthday invitation cards with a simple black cover and red patterns.
Looking joyful, Isaac invited, "In two days, it will be my birthday, and I will hold a party at my house. By that time, there will be a lot of people coming. So, the two of you should come over and have some fun."
When Emmeline heard that, she felt that she should attend his party. After all, they were friends for so many years.
Thus, she immediately answered, "Sure, I'll be there."
