Chapter 965 Psychological Needs

Pursing her lips together, she replied in a low voice, "Well, I can promise you, but you have to promise me one thing."
Upon receiving the news, Chantel was delighted and quickly asked, "What is it?"
"In the future, you are not allowed to say those words to Anne. Aunt Chantel, you knew that I have always regarded Anne as my own daughter. I see her as my biological daughter. I don't want anyone to provoke our relationship, especially our relatives."
Suddenly, Chantel's face changed.
It turned from panic to anger, and finally to deep shame.
With her head lowered slightly, Chantel said remorsefully, "I-I didn't mean it. I was too angry at the time, and I got carried away..."
"I don't care what was your reason." Clarissa's voice was cold, with an unprecedented sternness. "Anyway, I don't want this to happen again in the future."
"Okay, I promise, I'll never talk nonsense again."
Chantel immediately agreed.
With a nod, Clarissa then stood up.
"In that case, don't worry. When you talk to Anderson, I will put in a word for you."
After that, she turned around and left.
Chantel watched as she left, then heaved a sigh of relief.
When Clarissa stepped out of the restaurant, she received a phone call from Anne.
It was Sunday today, and Anne had called her using the landline.
As soon as she picked up the call, she heard Anne's sweet voice. "Mommy, are you off work? Have you eaten?"
Sitting in the car, Clarissa couldn't help but laugh when she heard her voice. "Yes. I've eaten too. How about you? Have you eaten?"
"Yes, I have eaten, but I miss you, so I called."
"Ah, I see." After a pause, Clarissa asked, "Today is your birthday. Should we celebrate at Grandma's house later? We can go together after Mommy gets off work."
Upon hearing that, Anne cheered excitedly. "Okay. I want to eat mousse cake, and I want to wear the most beautiful dress."
"Okay, let Pattie find you a beautiful skirt. Put it on and wait for Mommy to pick you up."
"Okay, Mommy. I love you."
"I love you too. Bye-bye."
"Bye-bye, Mommy."
After hanging up the phone, she sat in the car, and her lips curl into a smile automatically.
Then, she got off the car and went back into the office.
Clarissa didn't get off work until half past five in the evening.
On the other hand, Anderson also got off work early. Everyone knew that it was the little princess's birthday today, so they all got off work early and went home to pick her up.
Normally, they already had the habit of coming to the old residence to have dinner on the weekends. After all, they didn't visit as often, so they wanted to spend some time with the grandparents on the weekends.
Today, it happened to be Anne's birthday, so they all went there together.
After returning home to pick up Anne and Marf, they set off to the old residence.
On the way, Clarissa told Anderson about the incident with Chantel.
After hearing this, Anderson's first reaction was to reject her.
In the past few years, Chantel had done a lot of businesses in all kinds of industries, but none of them succeeded.
Anderson, Carlos, and Matteo had all come to the conclusion that she wasn't the type of person who could do business.
On the surface, she seemed like a tiger. In fact, she was only big-headed and simple-minded. She would always get deceived by someone else's words.
Over the years, she was cheated and lost a lot of money.
It was not a big deal to be lose the money, but it was embarrassing to say it out.
After all, when Carlos was young, he was a talent of his generation. Matteo could also be considered a hero, not to mention Anderson. Even Anderson's parents, who had died young, were well-known talents.
It just so happened that when it came to Chantel, she was not smart and she was not good at arts either. Except for squandering money, she could do nothing else.
Therefore, Anderson would never agree to invest 15 billion on her.
Nevertheless, Clarissa had a different perspective.
So she explained patiently. "Aunt Chantel is already 40 this year. She isn't as rash and willful as she was when she was young. She is much more careful and considerate than before. Also, I feel like we can't just depend on the final outcome or the benefits. We have to consider her psychological needs too."
Upon hearing that, Anderson turned to look at her. "Psychological needs?"
"Yes." Clarissa smiled. "Have you ever thought the reason why Aunt Chantel still wanted to invest so much in a business after all of her failures? She has always had a good life. With the annual bonus from Jordan Group alone, even if she does nothing, it would be enough for her to lead a carefree life. But why is she so determined to do business?"
Anderson frowned. "Why?"
"Because of the sense of accomplishment."
Clarissa looked at him seriously. "In your family, everyone is talented, smart and successful. Somehow, she is the only one who seems to have no accomplishment and always drags everyone down. She is a human too, and everyone has a dignity. Nobody wants to be a burden to others forever. Of course, she also wants to achieve something, or create something out of her career.
This is actually a good thing for her. It's just that she did it the wrong way previously. But this time, as far as I know, it should be relatively reliable. We might as well support her. What if it works? It can fulfill one of her wishes, isn't it?"
Her words made Anderson sink into deep thought.
After a while, he said in a deep voice, "Since you said so, then we shall let her try again."
Hearing that, Clarissa smiled slightly. "We don't need to lend her all the money. Although we are a family, such a large sum of money will put a lot of pressure on her. As she is only starting out in dealing with such a big business, I'm afraid that she won't be able to manage it and mess things up."
Then Anderson raised his eyebrows. "So what you mean was..."
"If the Jade mine is true, no matter how much we invest, it's definitely profitable. Why don't we see it an as investment, and we can become partners at the same time."
Anderson laughed when he heard that.
"You've really considered everything for her. If Aunt Chantel finds out, she'll be so moved."
Pursing her lips, Clarissa smiled. "I don't expect her to be moved. I just hope that she can be happy and live a peaceful life in the future. So she won't mess around anymore."
Anderson nodded. "If that's the case, then we'll do as you say. We'll invest."
After the two of them came to a conclusion, they stopped talking about this topic.
Soon, they arrived at the old residence.
Chantel had arrived earlier than them. When she saw them coming in, she quickly got up and greeted them with a friendlier smile than ever before.
"Guys, you're here. Come and have a seat."
As she spoke, she walked over and picked up Marf.
"You silly little brat. You are getting heavier now! I almost can't carry you anymore."
Marf giggled and said, "Great-aunt Chantel, I'm not a silly brat, I'm a clever brat."
