Chapter 676 It's Destined

Charlotte sneered, looking at Buckley.
"Really? But why do I feel that you care for her so much that you can't take it when others talk about her?"
Buckley was stunned.
He forced a smile despite his embarrassment.
"Charlotte, don't you understand my feelings for you? It has been so many years. I have already..."
"That's enough. There's no need for you to say anything."
Charlotte, on the other hand, did not want to listen to him anymore.
She directly interrupted him with a cold voice, and then lifted the quilt and got out of bed.
Buckley looked at her with confusion. Seeing her put on her shoes and walking out, he asked in a hurry, "Where are you going?"
"I'll sleep in the guest room."
Immediately, Buckley was rendered speechless.
Charlotte couldn't just sleep in the guest room!
He couldn't agree to let her sleep in the guest room. What would the family members think if they found out the two of them slept separately?
What was more, he knew Charlotte's temper. All these years, she never mentioned sleeping separately no matter how bad their argument went.
It seemed that she really cared about it this time.
With these thoughts in mind, Buckley got out of bed and drew her back.
"Charlotte, let's not argue anymore. You know that the matter between Sue and I happened many years ago. We were both young and immature at that time. Furthermore, we were nothing back then. I took extra care of her because she is your younger sister."
Buckley had figured out his wife's weak spots after being together for so many years.
Knowing that she was soft-hearted, he tried his best to convince her.
However, Charlotte had gone through many things as well. She wasn't the innocent girl anymore, so how could she be so easily duped by him?
She looked at Buckley and sneered after a while.
Then, she asked sinisterly, "What if I tell you that Sue isn't dead?"
Buckley was taken aback.
Then he continued to wave his hand.
"No, it's impossible. This is not funny at all. Dear, let's not joke about this."
"I'm not kidding."
Charlotte reached out her hand to push Buckley's hands away. "I met her two days ago," she said solemnly, "so I'll tell you with confidence that she's still alive, and she's in Flaucford right now."
Buckley was completely stunned.
It was as though his whole body was in a trance.
Right after, he fixed his gaze on Charlotte. After a long time, he finally believed she didn't lie.
Well, she wasn't joking. She really met Sue.
Sue was indeed still alive.
Pursing his lips, he finally regained his senses after a while. He pointed to the news on the phone and said, "So, this is true? The person they met is probably Sue?"
Watching the excited look on his face, Charlotte suddenly became depressed.
She responded coldly, "Yes, it's true. Congratulations, your true love is back."
"I..." Buckley suddenly stopped. He opened his mouth to utter something, but in the end, he swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
After a long while, he said weakly, "Charlotte, no matter what you think, I really don't intend to do anything. It's difficult to explain all the misunderstandings, but I still hope that you can trust me. After so many years of marriage, I hope you can at least trust me since I haven't done anything wrong all this while."
After that, he stopped talking.
Charlotte stood with a grim expression on her lips, but she didn't seem as enraged as she had been.
She eventually came over and sat beside the bed, staring at him.
"Then what are you going to do now?"
Seeing that Charlotte was willing to sit down on the bed, Buckley secretly rejoiced, despite his unconcerned expression on his face.
After all, Charlotte had used Sue to deal with him in the past few years.
This matter was like a thorn between the two of them.
Each time she stabbed him with the thorn, she inflicted pain on herself as well.
Buckley couldn't help but feel conflicted as he considered this.
With a sigh, he said, "I don't have any plans. It makes no difference to me whether she is alive or dead. You are the only one that matters to me. Although Sue and I grew up together, our relationship broke 26 years ago."
"Currently, I'm just paying attention to her right now because she's your sister. But if I make you sad as a result of this, I will not pay attention to her anymore."
Charlotte frowned suspiciously as she heard him talking in such a heartfelt and sincere tone.
"Really?"
"Of course!"
Buckley raised his finger. "I can swear if I don't believe me."
As he said this, Charlotte's eyelid twitched, and she quickly slapped his hand away.
"Okay. Did I ask you to swear?"
Although she was uttering words of distaste, her face was filled with concern.
Buckley couldn't possibly grasp her obstinacy. Buckley's bleak mood instantly improved as a result of this.
Putting his hand on Charlotte's shoulder, he said, "Well, now that it's clear and it's getting late, it's time for us to sleep."
Charlotte gave him a sidelong look and a silent nod.
The next day.
The news on the Internet was becoming increasingly popular, and it could not be ignored.
Buckley's order from last night didn't work.
To be precise, it had already succeeded, but it couldn't stop the people behind the posts from spreading them.
Furthermore, the majority of those who had previously favored Sue was now significant people of the society.
Once the news had spread, a lot of money had to be spent to clear it up.
Otherwise, it was impossible to find no trace at all.
However, Buckley didn't give such an order last night, so his assistant didn't dare to decide without his permission.
Judging by the increasingly popular news on the Internet today, it was clear that he could no longer suppress the news.
The assistant lowered his head in the office and stood there with a guilty expression on his face. He then said to Buckley in hushed tones, "I'm sorry, Mr. Blaine. It was too late last night, and the cost to clear everything up was too high. I didn't dare to use such a large sum of money on my own. Please forgive me."
Buckley looked at him and frowned.
In the end, Buckley did not blame him. He just sighed and said, "Well, since it did not succeed, then forget it. Maybe it's destined to happen."
