Chapter 1076 His Past

He had always been afraid that Clarissa would leave him when she found out he was hiding the truth from her. Now it seemed that it wouldn't happen.
Therefore, Anderson finally relaxed.
However, although there was no need to worry, what should be explained had to be explained.
So late at night, when it was all quiet, he told Clarissa everything about what had happened in the past.
It turned out that Anderson was not a simple businessman from the very beginning.
He studied abroad a long time ago. While the outsiders knew that he majored in industrial management, nobody knew he secretly went to military school.
It was when he was in the military that under the discerning eye of an old general, he was chosen to be an intelligence officer for the Thunderstriders.
He was considered to be the direct subordinate of the old general. Because of his outstanding performance, after the old general retired, he became the leader.
Therefore, the task of capturing Coby was handed to him.
It was since then that the battle between Anderson and Coby began.
As Clarissa thought about it for a moment, she realized that it was before she and Anderson met for the first time.
However, when she thought of the reason they met, she realized that they met each other when he was tracking down Coby.
Because this was a huge matter and there were some elements that could not be explained by science, it had to be absolutely confidential.
It was also because this matter was kept a secret that Anderson's identity naturally became a secret, too.
Even the officials in charge of this matter couldn't be known to others.
It was hard to imagine how Anderson had been able to shoulder such a huge responsibility alone in those lonely years.
No one understood, and no one could speak of it.
No matter what happened, he had to shoulder it alone. No matter how tired he was, he couldn't even say a word.
Suddenly, Clarissa no longer blamed him and felt sorry for Anderson.
She knew that Anderson must have had a hard time over the past few days, but for the sake of the safety of the people, he persisted.
After a slow ten years, Coby was finally captured and brought to justice.
It was not easy for him. If she still blamed him, was she worthy of being his wife?
Clarissa couldn't bear to listen any longer, so she hugged Anderson.
"That's enough. Don't say anything else."
Anderson wrapped his arms around her shoulders and gently embraced her.
With a sigh, he whispered. "I'm sorry, Clarissa. I shouldn't have kept it from you on purpose."
Shaking her head, Clarissa replied after a while, "I don't blame you. I know you have your reasons. But Coby is dead now, does it mean it's not dangerous anymore?"
She raised her head slightly to look at him. Seeing that, Anderson smiled and gently brushed her nose.
"I hope it's that easy. Danger always exists in this world. As one danger is relieved, the other will arise. It will not vanish all of a sudden."
Soon, he could see the worries in Clarissa's eyes, and he couldn't bear to see her worry.
So, he comforted her again, "But you can rest assured that I will do my best to ensure my safety. Don't forget that we will grow old together."
Upon hearing that, Clarissa burst into laughter. She was a little touched and sad at the same time.
Holding Anderson's hand, she responded in a low voice, "You must take good care of yourself. If anything happens to you, I will also..."
"If anything happens to me, you must live on strongly. Don't let your imagination run wild, let alone do stupid things, understand?"
Suddenly, Anderson's tone became serious. Clarissa felt her nose burned as tears rolled down her cheeks.
It was because she realized that Anderson was not joking, but telling the truth.
Anderson panicked a little when he saw her crying.
He quickly coaxed her, "Okay, okay. Don't cry. It's my fault. If you keep crying like this, my heart will be broken."
But how could Clarissa bear it?
First of all, she was pregnant, so it was easy for her mood to fluctuate.
After hearing Anderson's words, she could only feel sorrow welling up in her. It was as if the two of them might be separated at any time, so she couldn't control her emotions at all.
When Anderson saw this, he knew that he had said something wrong.
In order to make her stop crying, he quickly changed his words and uttered. "Okay, I promise you. I will live well and won't die before you, okay?
"Don't cry anymore. If you keep crying like this, I will die of heartache before I encounter any danger."
As he spoke, he wiped her tears with his hands.
Suddenly, Clarissa couldn't control herself as she hugged him and cried even louder.
As she was crying, she suddenly heard someone knocking on the door.
Surprised, Anderson asked immediately, "Who is it?"
Subsequently, Anne's and Marf's crisp voices were heard.
"Daddy, Mommy, what are you doing? Daddy, are you bullying Mommy again? We heard Mommy crying."
Both of them froze. Anderson was both annoyed and amused, as he yelled, "Don't talk nonsense. Go to sleep! Your Mommy is fine. She's not bullied by anyone!"
Clarissa was also a little embarrassed. With a blush on her face, she quickly wiped away her tears and pushed Anderson away.
As she opened the bedroom door, sure enough, she saw two little munchkins standing outside the door with serious faces.
Seeing her came out, Anne grabbed her and pulled her over.
First, Anne looked at her up and down with concern. When she noticed her red eyes, she quickly asked worriedly, "Mommy, are you really crying? Did Daddy bully you? Humph, if Daddy bullies you, tell us, let's go to get revenge!!"
As she spoke, she was about to rush into the bedroom.
Immediately, Clarissa held them back. She found it so funny that she couldn't help laughing.
The sadness in her voice was dispelled all of a sudden.
Laughing as she said, "Don't talk nonsense. Your daddy didn't bully me! We're only talking. It's late. Why are you still outside? Don't you need to sleep?"
She deliberately pulled a long face and pretended to be serious.
Unexpectedly, the kids were already used to her temper, so they were not afraid of her at all.
Anne said, "I don't have to go to school tomorrow. Logically speaking, I can sleep later?"
As Clarissa thought about it, she realized it made sense.
Tomorrow was the weekend. They didn't have to go to school, so they could sleep later at night.
Then, she shifted her gaze to Marf who was standing beside her.
Although Marf was only four-and-a-half years old this year, he was already very smart.
Rolling his eyes as he said, "Since Anne can stay up late because she didn't have school, I can stay up late, too. I am very smart. I have already finished the morning classes. I can also sleep late."
Hearing what he said, Clarissa couldn't help but laugh out loud.
After living for so many years, it was her first time seeing anyone praising themselves for being smart and so self-righteous.
But what the kids said was true. They were both smart and considerate children with high IQs and EQs, so Clarissa needn't worry too much about them.
Therefore, Clarissa didn't want to be too strict with them.
