Chapter 512 Completing It With Difficulty
"Evelyn, how about I go and buy you some medicine or ask the director for a leave?"
'It seemed that the medicine she bought last month was in Evelyn's bag, but Carrie couldn't find it.
Looking at her anxious look, Evelyn shook her head.
"I'm fine."
Evelyn struggled to stand up and sat in front of the mirror with a pale face.
"Just prepare a cup of hot water for me with the thermos cup. Don't tell anyone."
Carrie looked at her pale face. She wanted to speak but stopped on second thought and nodded in the end.
It didn't take long for the rest of the actors to arrive at the dressing room as well.
There were only a few dressing rooms, so everyone was cramped in one room.
Because of what had happened yesterday, everyone had a problem with Evelyn more or less. However, due to her identity as the female lead and her rising fame over the past two years, they did not dare to show it.
But even so, Carrie was keenly aware of the fact that they were isolating Evelyn.
She pulled a long face right away. When she was about to lose her temper, someone silently tugged at her sleeve.
As soon as she looked down, she saw Evelyn shaking her head at her.
Carrie had no choice but to give up and angrily went out to call the makeup artist to help her to do her makeup.
Not far away, when Rita saw this scene, an evil glint flashed across her eyes.
After a while, the makeup artist came in and did her makeup and hair. The filming would begin at eight o'clock in the morning. Seeing that it was almost time, Evelyn went out.
The announcement was shown that today's filming was supposed to be a non-action scene.
Evelyn did not worry too much. After all, although she was not feeling well, it was relatively easy for her to act in a non-action scene. Besides, it was not a very intense part of the play. She did not even have to show too much emotion, so she was fine with it.
However, when they arrived at the set, they found out that her screen partner was seriously ill today and asked for leave.
Wes saw her and waved at her.
Evelyn walked over.
"There's a change in today's schedule. We can't shoot indoor scenes anymore, so let's switch it to an outdoor scene. You can go to prepare it in a while and rehearse with the martial arts choreographer."
Evelyn was stunned. She looked at the script in Wes's hands and felt a little confused.
"Wes, but..."
Wes frowned and looked at her with displeasure.
"Howie has the stomach flu and is hospitalized. Now the crew is in a hurry to make progress, so we don't have so much time to waste here. I don't want to hear your complaints. Anyway, this water scene will be filmed sooner or later. It's not cold today, so I'm doing this for your own good. Do you understand?"
Evelyn bit her lip. After a while, she still nodded.
"I see. Thank you, Wes."
Wes waved his hand dismissively and Evelyn left to make preparation.
When Carrie learned that she was going to shoot that water scene, she was shocked.
"Evelyn, you can't go into the water. You're not feeling well. It will only get worse if you do that."
Evelyn sighed.
"Carrie, go and get me some tampons."
"Evelyn."
"Stop it."
Evelyn interrupted her. Seeing this, Carrie stamped her feet, turned around, and ran to the lounge.
After Evelyn found the martial arts choreographer and rehearsed the moves that she had learned before, her screen partner was here too.
Before the shooting began, the staff helped Evelyn to set up for the wire-flying later.
It was another fight scene.
There were a lot of fight scenes in the series itself, so Evelyn, as the heroine, naturally had to take part in most of it. At least 40% of the scenes were fight scenes.
She would have been able to cope with it under normal circumstances.
But Evelyn was feeling under the weather today. Even if she had tried her best, it would be difficult to achieve the standards the director required.
"Cut!"
Wes frowned and moved his gaze away from the screen, looking at the two people hanging above the pond.
"Evelyn, what's wrong with you? Haven't you had breakfast today? You don't even have the strength to lift your sword. You look nothing like a female general!"
Evelyn pursed her lips. She knew he didn't mean to make things difficult for her as her performance today was really bad. She could only say, "One more take, I will try my best."
Wes didn't say anything and sat down again.
"Action!" After hearing the cue from Wes, the two of them got into position and started filming.
The plot was that after the two of them fought for a while, Evelyn, as the heroine, was stabbed and fell into the water.
Although it was late autumn, it was already very cold. Despite it being a sunny day today, the temperature was still a little low.
The scene was filmed in a small pond outside, with duckweed and weeds in it.
The two of them fought for a few rounds, and soon, Evelyn was stabbed. Then she cried out in pain and fell into the water.
Of course, the actor flew back to the shore, holding a beautiful sword in his hand. He stood straight and tall.
Evelyn struggled in the water for a while and finally came out with a pile of colorful duckweeds covering the top of her head. Pointing to the shore, she shouted, "Rowan, how dare you stab me!"
"Cut!"
Wes's voice sounded in a timely manner.
"Wrap."
The two simple words let everyone present let out a sigh of relief.
The actor's expression immediately changed from indifference to nervousness and concern. Looking at the shivering Evelyn in the water, he asked, "How are you? Are you okay?"
Evelyn felt so cold that her teeth were chattering. She shook her head and said, "I'm fine."
The staff quickly pulled her up.
As soon as she was out of the water, Carrie came over with hot water and a blanket.
When Carrie saw that Evelyn was so cold that her face turned pale, her eyes reddened.
"Evelyn."
Evelyn patted the back of her hand consolingly and murmured, "I'm fine. Don't worry."
Carrie pursed her lips and dared not to say anything more. She could only wrap Evelyn with the towel.
Evelyn took a few sips of hot water and walked over to see Wes.
"Wes, was that okay?"
Wes nodded and raised his head to look at Evelyn. He frowned when he saw her drenched and extremely pale face.
"You don't have any more scenes today. Go back and have a rest."
Evelyn nodded.
"Thank you, Wes."
She turned around and left. Not far away, Rita was watching them while she frowned unnoticeably.
"Wes."
She walked over and said to Wes with a smile, "Is it my scene up next?"
Wes nodded and asked the assistant director to go through the script with her first. Evelyn looked back as a dim light flashed across her eyes.
Back at the hotel, Evelyn took a hot bath. As soon as she lied on the bed, she felt as if her whole body had fallen apart.
She closed her eyes and felt a little dizzy, the room spinning. She felt her head dizzy and painful at the same time.
Carrie finally came back when the medicine she bought from outside. Seeing her lying there, she quickly poured a glass of warm water for Evelyn.
"Evelyn, are you all right?"
