Chapter 1064 Unintentionally Helped Each Other
Clarissa only felt a pain in her chest.
Puzzled, she looked up blankly and saw an unfamiliar face behind Anderson.
The man in front of her seemed to be a little dismayed, followed by anger.
Gunshots rang out once more on the calm cruise ship; internal chaos erupted.
As for her, she lost her balance and fell into the sea.
......
"Have you ever experienced a feeling of despair?"
Clarissa thought to herself. Well, she had experienced it.
She felt a bone-chilling sense of desperation as seawater flooded into her body from all directions.
The wound on her chest hurt, but it couldn't match with the horrible sensation of seawater pushing down on her.
She subconsciously fought and desperately wanted to swim upstream, but she couldn't.
The seawater seemed like a massive torrent, dragging her body and urgently tugging her down.
She could neither struggle nor resist.
However, right at this moment...
Someone plunging into the water over her head was heard, and then her body was brought up.
While she was still in a daze, she lifted her eyelids and saw that familiar face.
He held her waist with all his strength, attempting to drag her upstream.
Clarissa's eyes filled with tears.
Anderson...
Why did you lie to me?
You were clearly the one who had once saved my life. Our fate had already been decided long ago, but why did you keep it hidden from me?
Extending her hand toward Anderson, she wanted to touch his face.
However, a huge wave surged over at this moment.
The force of a furious vortex was so tremendous that it nearly crushed their bodies.
She heard a muffled groan, and then he loosened his grasp on her waist. The vortex dragged the man who had been holding her into the sea.
Seeing this, she opened her mouth wide, and the water rushed into it. Only then did she realize she was still in the sea. Therefore, she promptly shut her mouth and stretched out to catch him. However, she failed in the end.
The figure of the man grew farther distant from her. He eventually vanished into the vast sea. Now, she only felt that her head was going to explode.
That was the feeling of being depleted of oxygen.
Was she really going to die here today?
No. She wasn't. All of this was an illusion, a dream! She was still alive, and so was Anderson!
Yes, they were married and had two lovely children. Besides, she was pregnant now. After the twins were born, Anderson promised to take the entire family to the snow mountain to see the cherry blossoms. The view was just stunning. Moreover, they could stay on the mountain for a week to enjoy the delight of not having to deal with secular disruptions.
Yes, those were real. Everything that was happening now was merely an illusion!
Suddenly, Clarissa opened her eyes and frantically swam upstream.
It seemed that the wound on her chest was no longer painful. Then, she tried to swim upstream with her mouth tightly shut. After a long time, she finally saw a glimmer of hope.
Her heart was filled with joy, and she was about to make her final sprint.
Someone appeared to have grabbed her ankle all of a sudden. She then sunk to the bottom of the water once more...
"Ah!"
Clarissa suddenly opened her eyes and woke up.
She was surrounded by white walls, with the smell of disinfectant in the air. Besides, she was resting in a modest bed with some huge equipment that she didn't recognize next to her.
On the monitor, a red light was flashing. It became more rapid as she regained consciousness.
Where was this place?
Clarissa sat up, rubbing her throbbing forehead.
On the opposite side of the bed was a window.
Looking through the window, she found that there was a room over there as well.
Out of curiosity, she leaped out of bed and walked to the opposite room, removing the device tethered to her hand.
She noticed the interior decor matched that of her room. A man was lying on the bed. It was Anderson.
However, Anderson's face appeared pallid as he lay on the bed.
Many clothes soaked with blood were tossed on the ground next to him. Perhaps the blood had been immersed in the sea, resulting in an unusual red color.
Clarissa's heart clenched upon witnessing this.
"Hey, how are you? Are you alright?"
She patted the glass on the window and shouted.
There was no switch on this window. It might have been for the convenience of those in another room to monitor the room at any moment. It might even be sound-proofed.
Therefore, no matter how hard she slapped or yelled, there was no movement from the other side.
Clarissa shouted for a bit but soon found that it was useless, so she stopped.
About ten minutes later, she heard footsteps and the sound of people conversing outside. She anticipated the arrival of doctors and nurses.
So, she dashed back to the bed and lay on it.
She put her hands over her eyes and pretended to close them. In fact, she left a gap and silently observed the situation on the other side.
The doctor and nurse came in and gave Anderson a check-up. Then, they left.
She heaved a sigh of relief.
There was still some pain in the wound on her chest. When she opened her collar, she discovered that her wound was bandaged.
She had no idea who had fired the gun or why the man had wished to kill her.
Now, she only knew that she couldn't leave since Anderson was here.
Everything that transpired here was obviously the events of the past, which was the three months memory that Clarissa had lost.
But the soul in this body now appeared to be Clarissa, who had been profoundly in love with Anderson ten years after.
Clarissa was also confused. She didn't understand the logic of all this.
Hence, she could only act on her own conscience.
After the people left, she got out of bed and strolled to the door.
She had assumed that the door would be shut or that someone would be stationed outside to keep an eye on her.
However, when she opened the door, she saw that it was unusually silent outside.
There was no one on the long corridor.
Clarissa was surprised to find another door when she exited the entrance. It was the door leading directly into Anderson's room.
After some hesitation, she went in.
In the room, Anderson was still lying quietly on the bed.
It was clear from his look that he had been gravely harmed this time.
Clarissa's heart ached, yet she couldn't stop herself from whining. She didn't know why Anderson was hiding it from her, but she did see that he appeared to have lost half of his life at this point. Even his handsome face thinned out. Thus, she couldn't stop herself from clutching his hand in anguish.
"Anderson, wake up. What kind of place is this? You're lying here without moving, and I don't feel safe at all."
Sitting down beside the bed, Clarissa murmured.
