Chapter 889 A Task
Grayclouds looked up at Emmeline and said, "Don't worry. I know you value Yunne very much, so I didn't hurt her. Go back to your room and have a rest. I'll have someone bring her over later."
When Emmeline heard that and confirmed that he didn't lie to her, she was relieved.
She turned around and went upstairs.
After she left, Jason walked in from outside.
He looked in the direction in which Emmeline left and frowned unpleasantly. Clearly, he was dissatisfied with Emmeline's attitude toward Grayclouds.
However, he was well aware of his own identity and knew that he was not qualified to make any comments at this time. Therefore, he only asked, "Sir, do we bring Josie here?"
Grayclouds nodded.
"Bring her here and warn her. If she dares to say anything..."
He said with a determined look in his eyes.
Jason immediately grasped the situation and nodded, saying, "Yes, I understand."
After that, he turned and left.
Soon, Yunne was brought over.
When she saw Grayclouds, her calm eyes quivered, and she took a step toward him.
"Where's my grandma? What did you do to her?"
Grayclouds squinted his eyes slightly as he looked at Yunne, who was so near to him.
In hushed tones, he murmured, "You're still useful to us, so don't worry. Your grandma is fine."
Yunne breathed swiftly and glared at him.
"Where is she? I want to see her."
One of her hands gripped his sleeve as she spoke.
Grayclouds gave her a gentle smile as he looked at her clenched fingers.
"If you want to see her, that's fine. I'll assign you a task now."
He raised his head and motioned to the upstairs room. "Go convince her that she is, indeed, my sister. Tell her about how difficult I was in the past. I will return your grandma to you as long as she accepts me as her brother and stays here. What do you think?"
Yunne was on the edge of yelling when she heard this.
"You clearly said that as long as I helped you to take her out, you would return my grandma to me. How dare you lie to me?"
Grayclouds narrowed his eyes and gave a wicked smile.
"Yes. I lied to you. So what?"
"How dare you!"
Yunne was so enraged that she unconsciously wanted to punch him in the face.
When the fist was still in the air, it met his eyes, which appeared to be full of smiles but were actually extremely unfriendly.
Suddenly, she had a vision of her grandma in his hands, suffering.
If something happened to him today, her grandma would certainly perish.
Her hand instantly went limp, as if she had been emptied of all her strength.
Looking at him, she said in a hoarse voice, "I beg you, Grayclouds. Come at me if there's anything. She is just an innocent old lady. Can you let her go? I promise to listen to you in the future as long as you can let her go, okay?"
Her tone of voice sounded pleading.
However, there was no expression of emotion or a soft-hearted look on Grayclouds' face.
He still looked indifferent. Looking at her, he chuckled and responded, "Hey, what a pathetic look. But Josie, I've already told you that I don't believe in promises. They're all fake."
"The person will listen to me if I firmly grasp her vulnerable point. So why should I put my faith in promises? Do you agree?"
Yunne's eyes shifted from imploring to searing anger as she looked at him.
"So, are you sure you won't let go of her?" she replied coldly as she let go of his hand.
Grayclouds raised his eyebrows.
"Are you going or not?"
Yunne pursed her lips and did not speak.
Behind her, Jason stepped forward.
He whispered into Josie's ear, "Josie, don't blame me for not warning you. The boss can achieve his goal in many ways. He doesn't need your help. But if you want your grandma to be safe, you must listen to him. You now have a choice. Don't do anything you'll come to regret."
He stood up straight as soon as he finished speaking.
Then, Josie slowly clenched her fists.
It was so tight that her nails were basically embedded in her palm. Her face was stiff as a result of the acute pain.
After a long while, she slowly loosened her grip and then sneered.
"Okay, I'll do it."
After a pause, she added, "But you have to promise me that this is the last time. Grayclouds, the choice is in your hands now. Well, I can't do anything if you threaten me."
"But keep in mind that a rabbit will bite if it is desperate! If you really push me, we'll fight to the death, and no one will be able to get away with it!"
After she said that, she exuded an unfriendly aura, which caused them to raise their brows in surprise.
Grayclouds' eyes glowed with a spark of intrigue. "Interesting."
He rose, fixed his clothes, and turned to face Yunne.
Then he chuckled and said, "Let's go."
After that, he took her upstairs.
Upstairs, Emmeline was sitting in the room.
She was staring out the window at the time. The only thing on the bare lawn were the low lights surrounding the home, which illuminated a series of benches, making her appear further lonely.
Her mind was in a mess.
Those bizarre memories washed over her like a flood, leaving her panicked and terrified.
Despite having told Grayclouds that she would never accept him, she couldn't shake a feeling of unease in her heart.
She had the creepy feeling that everything in front of her was an illusion.
It seemed as though she was not herself at the moment.
Somehow, she felt as if she was floating in the clouds. Also, she had just noticed that when she placed her finger on the windowsill, it trembled slightly.
It was as if she couldn't control herself. Her physical condition seemed weird to her as long as she recalled those scenes.
What the h*ll was going on?
She couldn't help but frown.
Right at this moment, someone knocked on the door from outside.
"Emmeline, are you asleep?"
Emmeline turned her head and looked over.
She remembered the voice. It belonged to Grayclods, who claimed to be her brother.
Didn't he let her go for the time being? Why was he here now?
After pausing for two seconds, she then replied, "No."
Then, the door was pushed open, and Grayclouds came in with a girl.
When Emmeline noticed the petite figure standing behind him, her eyes trembled slightly, and a flash of surprise crept on her cheek.
"Yunne!"
"Emmeline!"
Yunne pretended to be delighted and soon dashed over to Emmeline.
