Chapter 737 Stop Looking Into It
So, Anderson held Clarissa's hand and asked, "Clarissa, can you promise me one thing?"
Clarissa looked at him. "What is it?"
Then, he continued, "Promise me not to investigate that incident anymore."
Upon hearing that, she was shocked.
"If you really want to know, I'll help you investigate," he added.
At once, Clarissa frowned.
She said, "Actually, I don't have to know about it, but I just feel..."
Suddenly, she pursed her lips. Anderson looked at her and slowly coaxed her, "Feel what?"
Right away, she explained, "Do you know? I often have a dream. In that dream, I sunk to the bottom of the sea. However, I was not the only one. You were with me too. Anderson, I am scared. I always have the feeling that we probably have known each other since nine years ago."
Instantaneously, Anderson was struck dumb, and he looked at her.
After a while, he forced a laugh. "Clarissa, why do you think that way?"
To that, she shook her head.
"I don't know. I just have an intuition."
Hearing that, Anderson stretched out his hand and caressed her hair lovingly.
With a gentle tone, he comforted, "Don't think too much. That's impossible. If you really want to know what happened nine years ago, I will ask someone to investigate it for you. So, don't put yourself in danger like this again. I will feel worried and distressed. Do you understand?"
When Clarissa saw Anderson was deep in affection, her heart was full of tenderness.
After a long while, she nodded.
Seeing that, Anderson was relieved.
And on the other side.
In the small building.
When Anderson's car left, Jara was standing on the second floor's balcony.
From there, he watched Clarissa get on the car, which slowly drove out of the yard and went out of his sight.
For a long time, he did not look away.
Then behind him, a man emerged. It was Nathan Cooper.
Looking at the direction of the car's departure, Nathan muttered discontentedly, "Why did you let them go? And what do you mean by we shouldn't mess with them? If we do this, won't our tens of thousands of dollars be in vain?"
Even after hearing that, Jara didn't turn to look at him and still standing there like that.
With a deep voice, Jara said, "There will be 100,000 dollars in your account this afternoon. You can treat this money as the pay we get after selling those ladies to them."
"What?"
Nathan was shocked.
100,000 dollars!
That was a hefty sum!
Gosh! They bought two people with only sixty thousand dollars. So, if they gave him one hundred thousand dollars, didn't that mean he had earned forty thousand dollars?
Even so, he still couldn't bear to part with Clarissa. After all, she was so beautiful.
But 100,000 dollars was a huge sum for him.
And he was attracted by that much money.
Moreover, for him, as long as he had money, he could always buy another woman.
If he bought a woman as beautiful as Clarissa, he would feel that everything was worth it.
Thinking of this, Nathan became happy once again.
On the other hand, Jara didn't pay any attention to him.
With a scowl on his face, Jara turned around and went downstairs.
Seeing this, Nathan curiously asked, "Where are you going?"
Jara murmured, "To sleep."
"What?"
"So are we still going to see someone tomorrow?"
"Nope. I'm not going."
"Not going? Where are you going tomorrow?"
Nathan chased after Jara.
Then, Jara's voice sounded from afar, "I have something to do tomorrow. You can go and see that person for yourself."
After he finished his words, he left.
For a long while, Nathan stood in the same place before he pouted discontentedly.
For some reason, he felt that after his brother returned this time, his brother had become a different person from the one he knew before.
However, he thought that since his brother was working for a rich boss, he would have his own beliefs.
Even though perplexed, Nathan decided not to bother himself with what was in his brother's mind.
As long as there was money, he wouldn't care what his brother was thinking.
Having that thought, Nathan was no longer troubled.
Feeling joyful, he went to phone someone to make an appointment to choose another person the next day.
As for Jara, he had been lying on the bed and had not slept for the entire night.
The moment he closed his eyes, the beautiful image of a woman would fill his mind.
Under the sun, the thin figure jumped and played while laughing in the scattered gold pieces on the ground.
The sun divided her smile into many pieces that carried lots of regrets—that were within his sight but were out of reach—and then disappeared in the thin air.
In a trance, he thought of her last words when she left a long time ago.
She said, "Jara, I hate you."
She also said, "Don't let me see you again."
"We shall be enemies in this lifetime."
Despite his thoughts, during the latter half of the night, he still managed to fell asleep.
The next day, the sun was shining through the window.
As there was a shrill noise outside, Jara frowned, pushed back the covers, and got out of bed. Then, he opened the door and went out.
As soon as he was outside, he saw Nathan was standing in the first floor's living room with two men and two ladies.
Seeing him coming down, Nathan ran over happily and bubbled as if he was offering a gift, "Look what have I brought you!"
After Jara coldly swept his gaze across the few figures, he asked in a low voice, "What are you doing?"
Nathan chuckled, "Don't you always want to marry a wife? That two women have left, so I get two more for you. Although these two are not as beautiful as the other two, they are cheap!"
As he spoke, he mysteriously pulled Jara to the side as if he wanted to say something confidential.
Then, he lowered his voice and exclaimed, "They only cost me 50,000 dollars! Besides, they're both virgins! We're so blessed!"
When Jara heard that, his eyes narrowed dangerously.
With a bone-piercing coldness, he fixed his eyes on Nathan.
But perhaps Nathan was too happy, so he did not notice Jara's abnormality.
Besides, Nathan was still happily introducing those two women and analyzing how affordable they were. He also shared with Jara his own preferences.
To be honest, Jara wasn't a good person.
Even so, after staying here for a few days, he totally detested such a filthy transaction.
Therefore, before Nathan could finish speaking, he interrupted Nathan, "I'm not interested!"
Hearing that, Nathan was stunned.
Later, Jara turned around to look at the two trembling ladies and said, "You can do whatever you want. Just don't drag me in."
After that, he left.
Stunned, Nathan was still standing at the same place while watching Jara's leaving figure.
All of a sudden, he didn't know how to respond.
In the past few years, Nathan seemed to enjoy his glory in the small town. However, deep down, he knew that he was just relying on his older brother's ability.
Although the town was small, due to years of threat from the war, the people in the town became smart.
When they were young, they had no parents and were poor. So, they were often bullied.
Every time someone beat Nathan, his brother would take him to the person who bullied him and fought back.
They didn't necessarily win in the end.
However, they wouldn't let their opponent win too easily.
Most of the time, it was six of one, half a dozen for the other.
And after a long period of time, everyone knew it.
These two brothers were not to be trifled with, especially the older brother.
