Chapter 950 Digging The Grave At Midnight
Mr. Gill nodded and motioned for him to sit down. He then asked, "So, can you tell me your plan on saving Lily now?"
They exchanged glances before explaining in full what idea they had come up with.
At this time, on the other side.
A young girl sat on the bed in a dark and shabby hut.
Her wrists and feet were tied, and she had a handkerchief stuffed in her mouth. Her entire face was pale, looking pitiful.
Outside, there were distinct footsteps.
A young man walked in shortly after the door was opened from the outside. With a cold face, he removed his coat, tossed it aside, and walked over.
The girl felt chilled by the aura on him and moved back slightly.
Standing by the bed, the man stared down at her. After a while, he bent down and looked into her eyes.
"Lily, where did your great-grandfather hide that item?"
His voice was low and cold, like a deadly snake.
Lily shook her head and couldn't utter anything.
The man became impatient. He reached up and yanked the cloth from her mouth. Then, in a frigid tone, he inquired, "Tell me! Where exactly did he hide the thing?"
Seeing this, Lily was so frightened that she was on the edge of crying. "I really don't know," she said.
"You have no idea? You spend every day with him. Don't you know where his things are? Are you kidding me?"
He erupted into a rage as he spoke. Then, he yanked her from the bed by her hair.
Lily screamed in pain and struggled, but she couldn't stand up to his strength. Soon, he dragged her to the door.
"Let me go! I have no idea where the thing is. Please let me go!"
However, the man clearly would not listen to her pleading for mercy.
He dragged her out of the house and to a well in the backyard. Then he exclaimed fiercely, "Say it! Do you want to test whether I'll throw you out of here?"
Lily was forced to lie on her stomach beside the well. She fixed her sight on the deep, pitch-black well. At that time, she was terrified that she was about to pass out.
The man snatched her neck and shoved her head down the well.
"Are you going to tell me or not?"
She burst into tears. She had fought for so long, but she couldn't hold on any longer.
"Okay, I'll tell you."
"Where is it?" the man questioned, snatching her hair.
With a face full of tears, she mumbled, "It's in my great-grandma's tomb."
The man's expression instantly turned indifferent. "Take me there!"
On a dark and windy night, the two of them walked to Gill's cemetery.
Since this place was very close to Gill's villa, the man didn't dare to let go of her. To keep her from screaming, he nevertheless bound her hands and shoved a handkerchief into her mouth.
There weren't many people in the village now, and it was midnight, so everyone had gone to sleep. As a result, there was no sound except for the buzzing of insects.
Under Lily's lead, Sean Mercer dragged her to the grave. "Which tombstone is your great grandma's?"
Lily looked around and pointed to the middle one.
Sean walked over with a sullen face and carefully examined the name on the gravestone. It was indeed her.
He drew Lily close to him. "Where did he bury the item?" he demanded fiercely.
However, Lily only cried and shook her head.
He scowled, looked around, and then took the handkerchief out of her mouth.
"Don't even think about screaming. If you dare to do so, I will stab you to death right away!"
Lily was terrified. Although she was not far from the villa, Mr. Gill might not be able to hear her since it was late now.
Even so, she was afraid she'd be dead by the time he came from the villa.
Thus, she just nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. Sean finally exclaimed, "Quickly, tell me, where did he bury it?" after ripping the handkerchief from her mouth.
After looking around for a long time, Lily finally answered, "I don't remember."
"What?"
Sean was on the verge of exploding. "I really can't recall," Lily trembled, immediately explaining. "When my great-grandfather walked out that night, I observed his strange behavior and followed him out silently. He had no idea I was following him.
I was curious when I saw him walking all the way to the cemetery, so I followed him. But I was afraid he'd find out, so I followed him from a safe distance. I just saw him bury something here from a distance, but I'm not sure where it's buried."
Her words were reasonable and well-founded, so Sean had no choice but to believe her.
However, his eyes were dark, and he stated sternly, "I will skin you alive if you lie to me."
Hearing this, Lily was so frightened that she trembled and said nothing else.
After that, Sean dragged her to a nearby tree and tied her to it with a rope. He then stuffed a handkerchief into her mouth before threatening, "Remember, don't attempt to pull a fast one and flee. I'll kill you right now if you dare to play tricks on me."
Lily nodded honestly.
Only then did Sean let go of her. He turned around and walked over to dig the grave.
Mr. Gill had always believed that men should learn martial arts but not women. Otherwise, she wouldn't have any femininity and wouldn't be able to marry in the future.
After all, he came from the olden era's generation. Even though he had already entered a new era, his thinking still didn't improve.
So for so many years, in addition to providing Lily to go to school, he had never taught her any martial arts.
In the past, Lily had not felt anything wrong with this. But at this moment, she felt extremely regretful.
It would be nice if she knew some martial arts.
With that, she could fight back and flee. Besides, she wouldn't be bullied like the fish on the chopping board.
As she pondered this, she lifted her head and looked at Sean, who was not far away.
He was squatting there, digging the soil as hard as he could.
Because he didn't know the exact spot, he could only dig around the grave bit by bit.
It was a difficult task. Fortunately, he had come prepared, having brought iron shovels with him. As a result, despite the difficulty of the digging, progress was not slow.
Soon after, he finished digging the entire tomb.
Although it was a cold autumn night, he was sweating profusely. Lily, who was nearby, kept an eye on them. "Grandma, please don't blame me," she closed her eyes and whispered in her heart.
"I apologize for being insensible, but I have no other choice now. My life will be in danger if I didn't take him here."
After she finished her prayer, she opened her eyes again and noticed that Sean was still digging.
However, no matter how thoroughly he dug the entire tomb mound, he couldn't see anything that resembled Jade of Heaven.
He couldn't even find a scrap of fabric, let alone the jade. There was nothing except mud.
Soon, the coffin was seen.
