Chapter 559 Not Your Pet
Evelyn nodded.
To avoid awkwardness, she pointed at the sofa and said, "Sit down first. Do you want some water? I'll pour you one."
Marty nodded and didn't refuse.
After Evelyn poured the water for him, the room fell into silence, and the atmosphere was a little awkward.
She didn't know why Marty suddenly appeared here today after disappearing for so long. She felt uneasy and confused.
Evelyn didn't know what to say at the moment.
Marty quietly took two sips of water and then put the cup down.
He leaned back on the sofa, giving a nice stretch to his body leisurely, looking at her with a faint smile.
"Why are you so nervous? Come and sit here."
As he spoke, he patted the spot next to him.
Evelyn hesitated for a moment. Although they had reached an agreement and she knew that something would come sooner or later that she couldn't run away, she still didn't want to get physical with him so soon.
And subconsciously, her body didn't like the idea of being close to him.
So she just stood there and didn't move.
When Marty saw this situation, he could roughly guess what she was thinking.
Nevertheless, he didn't get angry. Instead, he gave a smile.
He retracted his hand and unconsciously played with a ring in his hand. His voice was a little cold.
"Is there anything you want to explain to me?"
Confused for a moment, Evelyn didn't quite understand what he meant.
An explanation?
What did she need to explain?
Marty narrowed his eyes when he saw the blank look on Evelyn's face.
After a while, he snorted out a laugh.
"Don't tell me that you haven't seen the news online yet."
Evelyn was stunned for a moment, then only she realized what he was talking about.
Her face suddenly became awkward.
Oh no! She had missed that out!
When the rumor came out at that time, she only thought about Damien, and she forgot the relationship between her and Marty now.
A person as petty as Marty, no matter what was her underlying intention, to him, he would never allow anyone to get their hands on his belongings.
Therefore, regardless of whether the rumor was true or not, he would never allow it to happen.
Thinking of this, she quickly shook her head and stammered, "I... I saw it. I was about to call you to explain, but you came."
Marty could tell that it was obviously a lie that she had made up on the spot at one glance.
He sneered. "You were just about to call me to explain it to me? Ha, you think I'm easy to fool, don't you?"
As he said that, he tapped on the watch on his wrist and said coldly, "Those photos were posted two days ago. Now it has been 48 hours, and you are telling me that you are going to call me to explain it to me?"
"Are you really going to call me to explain, or you have forgotten about my existence? You only said that now because you couldn't avoid me, isn't that true?"
He raised his tone at the last syllable, sounding dangerous.
Evelyn's heart was in her mouth.
She could not help but feel guilty when Marty guessed what was on her mind correctly.
She didn't even dare to look into his eyes. She looked around and struggled to explain, "That's... not true. It's just that there are too many things happening in the past two days, so I have forgotten about it."
However, Marty was not an easy person to fool. He glanced at the gaming equipment in the room coldly and said with a sneer, "You're too busy? What have you been doing? Are you busy playing games or binge-watching dramas? Have I been too nice to you that you don't know your place anymore? And you forgot the promise you made with me, huh?"
She could tell from his tone that he was fuming with anger now.
Evelyn didn't know what to say at the moment. After all, she was in the wrong. It seemed that no matter how she explained, there was no way to smooth things over.
In the end, she could only succumb to her fate and sighed helplessly.
"Well, I admit that I forgot to tell you. I'll say sorry to you now, okay?"
It sounded like she was trying to pick a fight.
Marty was so angry with her that he laughed. "Apologize? Is this how you apologize to people?"
Pursing her lips, Evelyn felt like she hated Marty so much in her heart. How could there be such a difficult person in this world?
After all, she didn't want to sign the agreement. It was Marty who forced her to sign it.
She was already reluctant to do so. Why should she be forced to consider his feelings when he had never considered hers?
The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt.
Nonetheless, Evelyn knew very well that she was no match to him. Even if she felt wronged, she could not do anything about it. Hence, it was better to give in earlier and stop wasting her breath on him. Otherwise, she would be the one at the losing end.
At the thought of this, she held back the sadness and grievance in her heart and asked with a poker face, "What do you want then?"
Marty sneered. He stood up and approached her step by step.
He was giving off a strong presence with a touch of coldness and oppression.
Evelyn was forced to retreat until she reached the wall.
She could only cling her entire body to the wall.
Marty reached out his hand to space beside her ear while slightly leaning over his upper body.
A pair of sharp eyes stared at her and said coldly, "Did I tell you that outsiders are not allowed to mess with my belongings? Since you are my woman, you should know to keep a distance from other men, shouldn't you?"
Evelyn could only nod.
"Then why would the photo of you and him be circulated?"
Evelyn sighed helplessly and had to tell the truth.
She looked up at Marty's eyes and said expressionlessly, "I was drunk, so he was helping me to the car. It's not a big deal. Besides, you were not there at that time, and I couldn't get to my car by myself. I can't possibly ask Carrie to help me down the stairs, right?"
Marty sneered. He suddenly reached out and grabbed her chin with his fingers. He then asked through his gritted teeth, "Who told you to get drunk when I wasn't around?"
Evelyn frowned and felt a sharp pain on her chin, which made her a little annoyed.
She avoided his gaze and said coldly, "Can't I do as I please? Don't tell me that I don't even have the right to drink when I'm happy now."
Evelyn was saying that in a fit of anger, but she didn't expect that Marty to suddenly said, "Yes. When I'm not around, you don't even have the right to drink a glass of wine. Because I will never let other men see your demeanor after you got drunk."
Evelyn opened her eyes wide and looked at him in disbelief.
She felt that this man was so overbearing to an unreasonable extent.
She said angrily, "Marty! Don't go too far. Although I promised to be your woman, I'm not your pet. It's impossible for me to do everything according to your liking!"
