Chapter 587 To Start All Over
Again, Evelyn was completely shocked.
She didn't expect that Marty would say these words to her.
He sounded incredibly sincere, and he seemed to be in pain as if he was a man on the verge of death, waiting for her salvation.
Seeing him acting that way, she had never thought that his love for her had reached such a horrifying level.
But he was such an arrogant and self-indulgent person.
There seemed to be nothing in this world that would make him become as submissive.
But now, as he hugged her, he actually begged her to have pity on him...
With the thought in mind, tears rolled down Evelyn's face.
After a long time, Evelyn finally said something in a hoarse voice.
"Marty, do you know what you're talking about?"
"I know."
In a hoarse voice, Marty said, "I'm sorry, I always thought I'll tell you the truth when you respond to my interest. I'm always waiting for you to take the initiative to get closer to me, but I forgot that I'm the one who initiated this relationship. Clearly, I am the one who took the initiative to approach you first."
"I'm sorry, it's my pride that has hurt you. I once thought about giving up, but I can't do it. So Evelyn, are you willing to give me another chance?"
"This time, it will not be a deal, nor a condition. We will just get along like an ordinary couple. You can lose your temper and tell me anything you want. We shall be together seriously for once, okay?"
Marty's words had Evelyn teared up violently.
But with her back to him, he couldn't see it at all.
After a long time, she managed to hold back her tears and said, "Why?"
There was no need for that.
Because she knew that no matter how well they got along, she would never agree to be with him forever.
Clearly, she knew that all the efforts would be wasted like moths to a flame. Not only she would not get anything in return, she might even get herself hurt.
Why did he have to persist?
What was so good about her that she was worthy of him doing this?
But, Marty gave a wry smile.
In fact, he didn't know why he had to do this.
There was a voice in his heart telling him that if he didn't try again tonight, he might never have another chance in the future.
He just didn't want to lose this one and only true love that he had.
In a low voice, Marty said, "Do you still hate me?"
Upon hearing that, Evelyn didn't say anything.
Then, Marty continued, "I have threatened you with your mother's life. I did all of those things to you and always bullied you. Do you hate me?"
Originally, Evelyn wanted to say that she didn't hate him.
But when the words came to the tip of her tongue, she said, "yes."
Hearing that, Marty laughed at himself.
"So, you should say yes to me, then take this opportunity to torture me. Don't you think it's better to throw your anger back at me?"
At that moment, Evelyn's tears, which had been suppressed, burst out again.
This man...
As Marty seemed to have realized she was crying, he finally let go of her, and then he grabbed her shoulders with both hands, turning her around to face him.
Then, he lowered his head, reaching out his hand to lift up her face, and kissed it.
As the tears entered his mouth, they tasted salty and bitter.
However, it didn't bother him at all. It was not until he had kissed away all the tears on her face that he kissed her on the lips.
And it was a lingering and intense kiss.
Although he had kissed her before, it was not as appreciative as this time. He kissed every inch of her skin as if he was holding the most precious jewelry in the world, trying to integrate her whole body into his bones and blood.
The moonlight shone upon the leaves at the roadside, forming circles of mottled shadows on the ground.
And the two of them kissed as if the world didn't exist, and there was nothing else around except for the two of them.
Fortunately, it was quiet at night, so there were not many people around.
In addition, the light was dim. From a distance, people could hardly spot them.
But, he didn't know how long he had kissed her. It was not until Evelyn felt that she couldn't breathe that he let go of her.
However, after a short while, he pressed his forehead against hers and felt an immense emotion that he had never felt before.
Then, when she was able to catch her breath, he kissed her again.
Somehow, he couldn't stop kissing, gently and slowly taking over her heart.
Meanwhile, Evelyn felt that her whole body was trembling, and her legs were getting weak. If it weren't for Marty, who held her up all this while, she would have collapsed to the ground.
At that moment, insects were chirping faintly among the leaves.
And the surrounding atmosphere was really quiet and beautiful.
Then, a long time had passed when Marty finally let go of her.
Somehow, he was smiling with his eyes again. Perhaps it was when she fell into his arms, or maybe it was when her heart was softened and touched that she responded to his kiss.
In short, he looked extremely happy, and his eyes were shining in the night sky, staring straight at her.
Under his gaze, Evelyn felt uncomfortable, so she turned her face away and asked with a flushing face, "What are you laughing at?"
Unable to hide his joy, he held her in his arms and asked, "Does that mean I'm forgiven?"
Hearing that, Evelyn was stunned.
On the other hand, Marty was looking at her with great anticipation.
Then, she finally nodded imperceptibly, and said with a soft voice, "Yes"
Once again, he was like a child, picking her up in ecstasy.
As Evelyn did not expect him to react that way, she was completely startled. He carried her in his arms and turned around in a few circles before stopping.
When he stopped, Evelyn hit him on the shoulder and said, "What are you doing? You scared me."
Smiling happily, Marty said, "Evelyn, thank you."
Hearing that, Evelyn felt bitter in her heart.
But she forced a smile and said, "Why are you thanking me?"
"Thank you for giving me another chance."
As he spoke, he held her hand and placed it on his chest.
"I know that I have a bad temper, and I know that I have wronged you in the past. But, you can rest assured that I will correct them one by one in the future, and I will never disappoint you again."
Surprised, Evelyn looked up at him.
While looking at his sincere eyes, for some reason, she felt her eyes were burning again.
So, immediately, she forced a smile, withdrawing her hand calmly, and said, "We'll see. We can talk about it later."
As she spoke, Marty noticed that she didn't seem to look excited. He assumed that she hadn't believed what he said. But, he thought to himself that when he made it, she would believe him in the future.
