Chapter 78 Steal It
Lola's voice came through the door.
"Lara, are you still inside? I brought the dress for you."
Only did then Lara rearrange her expression and turn to open the door.
"Thank you."
"You are welcome."
Lola smiled. Noticing that Lara's expression was a little unusual, she asked concerned, "Lara, are you all right?"
Lara forced a smile and shook her head.
Although she shook her head, her face looked sad and worried.
How could Lola not know it?
She said worriedly, "Lara, did that b*tch Clarissa bully you again? What did she say when she called you?"
Lara still shook her head.
After a pause, she held Lola's hand and said, "I'm fine, but I'm a little worried."
"About what?"
"I..."
Lara lowered her head, and her eyes glinted.
"Lara, tell me! I'm so anxious."
Lara said in a soft voice, "You might not believe it when you hear me. I also find it unbelievable. I didn't expect... Clarissa to be such a person. I really..."
As she said this, she sobbed.
She looked like that she was about to cry.
Lola felt so distressed, and she said immediately, "I knew it! That sl*t must have bullied you again! Tell me what she did to you!"
Lara shook her head. After a long while, she barely calmed down and said, "After you left with Yasmin just now, Clarissa stopped me and said that she had the manuscript of the painting I drew five years ago. As long as she takes out the manuscript tonight, it can prove that it was her who drew the original painting!"
Lola's opened her eyes wide in disbelief.
"D*mn! Why is she so mean? In this way, you will become the one who slandered her five years ago."
Lara nodded.
"She is too shameless!"
"Lola, you are my closest sister. I only dare tell you about this. I really don't know what to do. You also know that Clarissa has the gift of the gab, and I am really afraid that she will take out the manuscript tonight. She will frame me and my life will be ruined."
Lola said angrily, "Lara, don't be afraid. Since she dared say that, it means that she brings the manuscript with her today. As long as we can steal the manuscript before she takes it out, nothing bad will happen."
Lara looked at her blankly, looking a little surprised.
"Steal... it?"
Lola nodded firmly.
"Yes."
"But... can we really do this?"
"Of course! She has gone too far!"
After Lola finished speaking, she noticed Lara's hesitant look.
She was a little irritated and patted her chest.
"Don't worry. You don't need to do this. I'll do it for you, and you just need to stall her and don't let her go back to her room for the time-being."
Lara looked at her and hesitated for a long while.
Finally, she said weakly, "Well... Okay!"
"Change your clothes first. I'll go out."
"Okay, thank you, Lola."
After Lola went out, Lara closed the door straightened up.
Her pretty face looked no longer fragile and worried.
Her face was full of contempt and disgust.
She cursed Lola in a low voice, "Idiot". Then she looked at the dress which Lola found temporarily and didn't fit her with disgust, and then put it on.
......
There were more and more people in the hall, and the performance in school had ended.
Clarissa walked through the crowd with ease, chatting with them with a smile.
She didn't like such an occasion before. Later, thanks to the two years she worked in Twilight as a public relations manager, she often had to socialize at dinner parties, and she gradually got used to it.
The atmosphere was lively, as if no farce had happened just now, and no one mentioned it again.
It was because no matter how shocking the news was, it had nothing to do with them.
It would just be a topic for them to talk about when they were free, but it was obviously not the occasion to talk about these. Most of the guests were either rich or noble, and they were busy with socializing, so how could they talk about the trivial things of the student days in a leisurely mood?
Moreover, Clarissa looked elegant and generous, so people subconsciously didn't want to associate her with the protagonist in the scandal five years ago.
In short, the matter was over. Since Lara didn't want to care about it anymore, they were naturally happy to forget it.
Therefore, not only did everyone not alienate Clarissa because of the farce just now, but there were also several rich young men who came forward to say hello to her because she was so beautiful.
Clarissa did not refuse them, and she replied to them in a gentle and polite manner, neither embarrassing them nor appearing too lofty.
She had been in this circle for several years, and she understood the ways of the world so well.
Although many people looked like good-for-nothing young and rich men on the surface, their relationships and backgrounds were so complicated. Maybe she would need their help one day.
Having one more friend was better than having one more enemy!
Not far away, Elliot looked Clarissa who was walking through the crowd and chatting, and his face was a little gloomy.
Until a clear and gentle voice sounded behind him.
"Elliot."
He turned his head and saw Lara. Then he put down the wine glass in his hand and pulled her over.
"Did you see Yasmin? Is she okay?"
Lara shook her head.
"She's okay, but she's a little sad. I asked Millie to accompany her, and she will feel better after a while."
"Okay. That's good."
After Elliot finished speaking, he didn't speak any more. He took another glass of wine and took a sip from time to time.
Lara was a little disappointed when she saw this.
"Elliot, do you... have nothing to say to me?"
Elliot was stunned and looked at her, "What?"
Lara was speechless.
A kind of unspeakable sorrow and grief surged in her heart, and her eyes gradually misted with tears.
She forced a smile and lowered her head slightly.
"I thought you would ask me why I changed my clothes all of a sudden."
Elliot was stunned.
After taking a closer look, he found that Lara was wearing a different dress indeed.
His face changed, and he coughed with some embarrassment.
"Well... Sorry, I was thinking about something just now, and I didn't pay attention it. What happened? Why did you change your clothes?"
His uneasy tone and gaze made Lara feel sombre in heart.
She looked at Elliot and clearly knew that he was evasive and perfunctory. She felt terribly sad.
"Nothing. Someone splashed the wine on me accidentally."
She said this with unhappiness and anger.
She didn't mention who did it, thinking that he could figure it out.
