Chapter 348 Played Along

Only then did Old Madam Jordan realize that she had overreacted and frightened Anne.
She quickly held back her anger and said softly, "No, I'm not angry. I'm just worried about you. Our little angel is so cute and obedient, yet there are still vicious people out there who want to hurt you. Don't worry, I'll definitely find the culprit who tried to harm you and won't let her off easily!"
Anne didn't quite understand, but she was relieved after she found out that Old Madam Jordan wasn't angry with her.
Clarissa frowned.
"Anne, are you sure it was someone who pushed you down just now?"
Anne opened her eyes wide in bewilderment, looked at her before looking at Anderson, who was standing next to her, frowning.
Finally, she shook his head.
"I'm not sure."
Although Anne was still young, she knew that she shouldn't wrong others at will.
Therefore, she just told them truthfully, "At that time, I just felt that I couldn't stand firm under my feet, so I'm not sure if I slipped by myself or I was pushed by someone behind. Anyway, it was an accident."
Old Madam Jordan then replied with a sullen face, "It doesn't matter whether you remember it or not. We can check the surveillance footage."
As she spoke, she turned to look at Old Master Levine who was sitting in a wheelchair, and said to him coldly, "This shouldn't be a problem, right?"
Since such an accident had happened to Anne in the Levine family, Old Master Levine knew that he was in the wrong and was in no position to refuse her.
"No problem. This is what I should do. I will send someone to get it immediately."
Old Madam Jordan nodded in satisfaction. She turned around to see Clarissa who still had wet clothes on her.  She quickly said, "It will take a while to procure the footage. You will catch a cold if you keep wearing wet clothing. Since Anne is fine now, get someone to take you to change your clothes."
Quinne, who had been standing at the side without saying anything, quickly stood up and smiled. "Yes, although it's spring now, the weather is still really cold. I happen to have a few new clothes that I've never worn before. I'll take you to get yourself changed. It would be just in time for you to watch the footage after that."
Clarissa had no objection, but Old Master Levine stopped Quinne and said to Gabriela, who was standing not far away, "Gabriela, take Clarissa with you. You are about the same age, so your clothes should be more suitable for her."
A hint of awkwardness flashed across Quinne's face upon hearing his words.
But she couldn't rebuke Old Master Levine in front of so many people.
She quickly played along and said, "That's a good idea. I bought a few sets of outfits when I went shopping with Gabriela a few days ago. Gabriela, remember to let Clarissa take her pick by herself."
Gabriela furrowed her eyebrows as a trace of impatience flashed across her face.
However, she did not refuse, but said in a low voice, "Come with me."
Then, she took Clarissa with her and left the room.
Anderson was a little worried about her. He wanted to accompany her but Clarissa had tipped him the wink to stop him
After all, Anne was still here. Although Old Madam Levine and others were here, she was still a little worried.
With Anderson around, she could at least feel a little more at ease.
Although Gabriela had always been in conflict with her, in her opinion, compared to other members of the Levine family, Gabriela was not a threat to her.
Clarissa followed her all the way into the room where she stayed. Gabriela's room was decorated in a very elegant and simple manner, in line with the modern minimalist style. It didn't look like a room belonged to a girl.
As soon as they entered the room, Gabriela took out all the clothes and threw them on the bed. She said casually, "Pick one yourself! Tell me when you are done changing."
After that, she was about to leave the room.
Clarissa took a glance at the clothes and suddenly stopped her.
"Miss Levine, I have a question for you."
Gabriela was stunned for a moment. She stopped in her tracks and turned back to look at her, sizing her up.
"What do you want to ask?"
Clarissa gave a small smile.
"Where were you when Anne had an accident just now?"
Gabriela's expression changed.
"What do you mean? Are you suspecting me?"
Clarissa didn't say anything.
Gabriela sneered.
"Clarissa, it's true that I hate your guts. I'll be applauding if you could die right in front of me, not only because you have taken Anderson away from me, but also you know the secret that I have always wanted to hide!"
"But you have to understand that you're the one that I have a grudge against, not Anne. Even though now she sees you as her mother, we had a close relationship before she met you!"
Therefore, don't gauge the heart of a gentleman with your own judgment. Not everyone is like you, cunning and cynical.
Obviously, Gabriela was angered by her accusations. As she finished her words, her chest heaved in anger.
Clarissa secretly let out a sigh of relief.
She smiled and said, "I'm sorry, I was just being careful. I don't think it's you who pushed Anne."
Gabriela frowned.
"Then why did you ask me?"
Clarissa raised her eyebrows.
"I've told you, just in case. But the look in your eyes tells me that you won't do that to Anne."
Gabriela was confused by Clarissa's words.
However, Clarissa didn't talk to her anymore. She picked up a light purple sweater and a pair of jeans from the bed. She then got changed into them in front of Gabriela.
Seeing how Clarissa didn't see herself as an outsider, Gabriela was simmering with anger.
Just as she was about to open the door and leave, she stopped in her tracks.
She could see that Clarissa had just taken off her wet clothes and there was a butterfly that was spreading its wing, ready to fly on her back.
Gabriela was taken aback.
It was actually a birthmark on her upper back.
"Isn't that..."
Her expression suddenly changed.
Clarissa did not notice the look on her face. After she put on her sweater, she had to tie the string to the back.
Just now, in order to save Anne, Clarissa accidentally pulled the muscle in her arm. She didn't notice it until she was trying to tie the string at the back.
Therefore, she asked, "Miss Levine, would you mind helping me to tie this?"
Gabriela came to her senses. Before she could answer, she had already subconsciously stepped forward.
As soon as Gabriela had her hands on the string, Clarissa curled her lips and said, "In fact, if you didn't like Anderson, I would think that you're a nice person, and not as bad as I thought."
Gabriela was stunned. She didn't even bother to bicker with her as she listened to what she was saying.
After replying to her a "yes" absentmindedly, her mind was occupied with the image of her birthmark.
Clarissa said with a smile, "By the way, Aaron is actually not bad. Although he was born in a poor family and has experienced a setback in his career, he is not a bad person.
"Most of the rumors about him before were spread by other female artists who used him to hype themselves. He didn't mean to get close to them. So if you really have a child together, you should give him a chance."
