Chapter 444 He's A Sc*mbag

On the other end of the line, Alex hesitated for a while and said, "I don't have that much in my hands for the time being."
"How much do you have now?"
"About eight million."
"Transfer it to me first. As for the rest, I'll figure it out by myself."
"Okay! But..."
He paused, a little worried. "Did you get into any trouble? Are you sure you can handle it yourself?"
Lauren was stunned for a moment and then laughed. "Don't worry! I'm fine. I'll give you back the money soon."
"Oh, you don't have to do that. Take good care of yourself outside. How long has it been? You and dad are still angry with each other! Is Jameson good to you?"
Lauren didn't want to talk too much, fearing that she would not be able to hold back her emotions, so she was desperate to end the call.
"Good, very good. Alex, you don't have to worry about me."
"Well, that's good!"
"That's it. I still have something to do. Talk to you later. Bye!"
"Bye!"
After hanging up the phone, Lauren looked at her phone as she stared into the space in the car.
After a long time, the corners of her mouth curled up.
A pang of warmth quietly filled her heart.
After leaving the headquarters of the Ethanbez Group, she drove back to the hotel.
However, as soon as Lauren arrived at the entrance of the hotel, she saw Vans getting out of the car.
"Madam Young Master Jameson asked me to follow you. If you need anything, you can ask me at any time."
Lauren looked at him coldly and kept a straight face on.
"Tell him, he doesn't have to come looking for me today, I won't see him!"
After that, she went inside angrily.
Vans's expression stiffened.
After a while, he touched his nose.
As expected, if Lauren and Jameson were not on good terms, Vans would be the first one to suffer.
However, he still did not leave. He just called and passed Lauren's message to Jameson, and then followed her in happily.
On the other end of the line, Jameson snorted after listening to her message.
He looked at the information of the old mansion that he had just asked someone to send to him.
"Ha!"
She thought he didn't know what she was up to?
That residence was the residence of the famous painter of the previous generation— Jeromia. It was Lauren's idol.
Since Jeromia had passed away and had no children, his nieces and nephews had decided to auction it off.
No one knew why Lauren wanted the house so much.
He sneered and threw it aside.
But after thinking for a few seconds, he took it back and dialed Vans's number.
"When will the old mansion be auctioned off? Please check for me."
Vans was stunned. He did not understand what Jameson was thinking.
However, he was only an assistant. He did not dare to say or ask anything and could only obey.
Soon, it was found that it would be held on the day after tomorrow.
Jameson frowned.
"Help me book the flight back tomorrow."
Vans was greatly surprised.
"Tomorrow?"
"Is there a problem?"
"Uh... no problem."
Jameson then hung up the phone.
The next day.
Lauren packed her luggage and returned to the country in a fit of anger early in the morning.
The purpose of Lauren coming to F country was to try to persuade Jameson to help her. If he agreed, her wish would be fulfilled and then she would ask Clarissa out to go shopping or hang out with her.
She didn't expect that Jameson would refuse to help her without hesitation.
Lauren was so upset that she was not even in the mood to hang out with Clarissa!
At the same time, she was worried about her child so Lauren packed up her belongings and left. She swore to herself that she would never do something so stupid again in the future!
It was only when she returned to the country that Clarissa found out that she had been to F Country.
After listening to her story, Clarissa didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Lauren never changed. Even though she had gone through so many things and no longer the noble heiress of the Jones family, her waywardness and impulsiveness had never changed.
Clarissa smiled and said, "How much do you lack?"
"About two million dollars."
"Okay, I'll transfer it to you later."
Lauren's eyes instantly lit up.
"Really? Clarissa, thank you. I love you so much."
Clarissa said, "Tsk. Do you only love me now?"
"Of course not. You are my favorite. Jameson the sc*mbag can go to hell."
The two of them laughed and chatted for a long time. They agreed to meet up after Clarissa returned to the country before hanging up the phone.
The next day.
The auction was held in the Oriental Hotel in the city centre.
After Lauren had her lunch, she went back to her room and put on a black dress from her wardrobe. She put on light makeup and wore a delicate pearl necklace. Then, she picked up her handbag and went out.
When she ran into the servant downstairs, it was obvious that the other party was astonished by her.
She asked with a smile, "Madam, where are you going dressing up so beautifully?"
Lauren smiled. "I'm joining an auction."
"Well, be careful on the way and come back early."
"Yes, I got it!"
After that, she got into the car.
Today, instead of driving by herself, she asked the driver to drive her around.
In less than half an hour, the car arrived at the Oriental Hotel.
The Oriental was one of the businesses owned by the Holland Group. It was the largest hotel in Nilween City. It had facilities such as a sauna, guest rooms, KTV, restaurants, golf course and so on.
Lauren walked alone into the luxurious hall. Many of the people present today were from the upper class in Nilween City. Some of them were even her old acquaintances. However, since everything was different now, now that they had met again, they were strangers now.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, the auction began.
Lauren found a remote corner and sat down. She looked around the crowd, but she didn't find anyone she knew.
She lowered her head and looked at her watch. It was still early.
She settled her mind and sat in the corner, waiting quietly.
The lights in the auction hall were originally very bright. As the host announced that the auction had officially begun, the light suddenly dimmed, leaving only two beams of white light projecting on the stage. One of the beams was projected on to the host, and the other slowly moved along with the auction items brought out by the hostesses.
"First, let me introduce the first item in the auction, the blue and white pottery discovered in Yalinn in the year of 2006. In terms of its color and the craftsmanship ..."
The host introduced the items on the stage eloquently, but Lauren had no interest in them at all.
The auction hall was very big. Most of the people who came were sitting in the front rows. Only she sat alone in the corner of the last row. One could hardly be able to notice her existence if they did not look carefully.
Time passed slowly. The priceless auction items were bidded one by one.
Until the last one!
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to formally introduce the last item of our auction. Please take a look at the big screen."
The screen in the back suddenly lit up. What appeared before them was a photo of an old mansion in vintage style and colors. It was an old but majestic building. One could tell the building had its own history.
"I'm sure many people here know about this house. It belonged to the world famous painter of the previous generation — Jeromia. It's located at the foot of the Mount Solstice, where Flaucford's military base is located. After Jeromia's death, his foster grandson, Young Master Tory, who is young and promising, is willing to auction it off and donate all the proceeds raised to the Association of Autistic Children in Flaucford."
