Chapter 811 Heartless Man

Jara didn't respond to her.
With a pair of dark eyes, he quietly looked at Emmeline.
Annoyed, Emmeline reached out her hand and pushed him away. "Go away! Don't disturb my sleep."
By doing that, she thought that Jara would be irritated, but unexpectedly, he giggled softly.
His low, husky voice that was full of evil charm sounded, and his warm breath puffed on her ear.
"So, this is how you look like when you're jealous."
Once again, his arm reached out to her body. However, this time, he did not rest his arm on her waist. Instead, he gently pinched her small and smooth earlobes with his fingertips.
"Just now, after you left, I went to see Kayla again."
Emmeline's body froze.
Although she looked like she was unwilling to talk to him, in fact, she had quietly pricked up her ears.
Not knowing whether Jara noticed her strangeness, she continued to listen as he spoke casually, "After a period of time, I'll send her away, and she'll never appear in front of you again. Will this make you feel better?"
Upon hearing what he said, she frowned.
Then, after a long silence, she turned around and looked at him.
Her eyes darkened, and she questioned him, "Where are you sending her to?"
Jara raised his eyebrows.
"Of course, a place where she belongs to."
To that, Emmeline sneered.
"You're really ruthless, Jara. She loves you so much, and yet, you want to send her away just like that. Even after four years, you're still as cold-hearted as before."
When Jara heard that, he was mad.
Then, he reached out his hand, pinched her chin, and retorted, "What else do you want me to do? It's you who dislike her, and yet, when I'm going to send her away, you satirize me. Don't you think you are ironic?"
Instantaneously, Emmeline was perplexed.
Initially, she felt nothing. However, after hearing what he said, she somehow felt that he was right.
With that, she furrowed her brows and responded impatiently, "You can do whatever you want. What does it have to do with me?"
After that, she twisted her head and flung off his hand that was holding her chin. Then, she turned away from him.
"It's getting late. So, please leave. I'm going to bed now," she murmured.
Hearing that, Jara looked at her deeply.
For a while, Emmeline could sense that he was gazing at her. Then, the mattress lightly shook.
When she turned to look at Jara again, he had gotten out of the bed and jumped out of the window.
Seeing that, she closed her eyes and cursed inwardly, "Lunatic!"
Since it was his castle, he could've used the door. Why would he climb the window instead? Was he out of his mind?
The next day, Emmeline woke up very early.
Facing the sunlight that shone through the window, she squinted her eyes. As soon as she turned around, she saw Yunne open the door and come in.
"Miss Illington, you are awake."
To that, Emmeline nodded and sat up with the help of Yunne.
"What time is it?"
"It's half past eight."
At that moment, Yunne was smiling. It looked like she was in a good mood. "Just now, Uncle Poick told me to inform him after you're awake as Doctor Cooke is here to change your dressing."
Hearing that, Emmeline was slightly stunned.
Then, she looked at the bandages wrapped around her body. After a long time, some of the minor injuries on her body had almost healed.
Right now, the injuries that required more care were the wounds on her ribs and leg.
After she responded Yunne with a nod, she raised her hand to tidy her disheveled hair and ordered, "You may ask her to come over right now."
"Yes, Miss Illington."
Then, Yunne left.
Not long after, Doctor Cooke came.
After Emmeline got hurt, Doctor Cooke was the one who treated her wounds, so they were closed with each other.
Doctor Cooke was a woman in her thirties. Actually, there was a male doctor in the castle, but Jara didn't let him treat Emmeline. Instead, he hired Doctor Cooke from somewhere else.
Emmeline leaned against the bed, took off her clothes, and let Doctor Cooke check and change her dressing.
When Doctor Cooke was done changing the dressing, she asked, "How are my injuries?"
With a smile, Doctor Cooke answered, "You are recovering well. The injuries on your head and arms have almost healed, but you shouldn't let your guard down. As for the wounds on your ribs and legs, they still need some time to recover. So, during this period, try not to walk too much, so as not to let the healed bones get dislocated again."
After listening to her advice, Emmeline nodded.
With that, she asked, "How much longer will it take to recover?"
Doctor Cooke thought for a moment and answered, "About three to four months. This kind of injury will usually take at least a hundred days to recover. So, you will have to be patient."
To that, Emmeline furrowed her brows.
Three to four months...
Did she have to wait that long?
Depressed, she lowered her eyes. Seeing this, Yunne smiled at Doctor Cooke and said, "I'll see you out, Doctor Cooke."
Doctor Cooke nodded, and the two of them left.
After seeing Doctor Cooke off, Yunne returned.
When she saw Emmeline was sitting on the bed, thinking about something, she smiled and came over.
"Miss Illington, do you want to have breakfast?"
The moment Emmeline heard Yunne's voice, she regained her senses and looked at Yunne.
After pondering, she responded, "No, I'm good. Can you help me with something?"
Yunne was stunned, and a light flashed in her eyes. Then, she nodded with a smile. "Sure, what would you like me to do?"
Emmeline beckoned her over.
With that, Yunne bent down and let Emmeline whisper in her ear. Hearing Emmeline's words, she nodded repeatedly and got up. "Noted, Miss Illington. I'll handle this right now."
Right away, Yunne left.
Later, Emmeline was lost in her thoughts.
For some reason, she couldn't help recalling the scene last night where Jara came in through the window.
At the thought of him, she frowned, and it took her a long time to loosen her eyebrows.
That day, she did not stay in the room for the whole day.
As she was extremely bored, she went out in her wheelchair after washing up.
Outside the entrance of Tower B, there was a smooth path that led her directly to the garden. Along the way, there were artificial hills and rivers, which had added some beauty to the scenery.
Controlling the electric wheelchair, Emmeline went forward slowly while breathing in the morning fresh air. As if the fresh air had cleansed her frustrated soul, her mood was better.
In fact, she had brought a book along. With the book resting on her leg, she went all the way to the open lawn and chose a rather secluded and cool place to read.
Over there, there was a big tree with luxuriant leaves, which could shelter her from the sunlight.
Although the leaves had blocked the glaring sunlight, it didn't stop the warmth from coming in. Therefore, this was the best place to read and rest.
After putting down the back of the wheelchair a little, she leaned on it and began to read.
She was reading a book about swordsmanship, and it was written by a swordsman a long time ago.
In fact, this was the only book that attracts her. Since she couldn't practice her sword skills, she decided to read on some theoretical knowledge and cultivate her mind.
