Chapter 790 Afraid to Offend Her
Emmeline didn't think of herself as someone kind-hearted, and she certainly didn't have a good temper.
For the first few rounds of provocations, she was williing to dismiss them.
Previously, when they were at the golf course, Kayla had deliberately come to look for trouble and splashed water all over her face. Since she gave her a slap in return, she thought they were even.
So in general, Kayla actually didn't take any advantage of her.
But even so, when facing someone as annoying as Kayla, Emmeline had lost her patience.
She disliked this kind of conflict, especially the intrigue between women.
Although with her abilities, she was definitely able to handle it. However, she was only annoyed and tired, not wanting to deal with it.
For this reason, it was better to give her a lesson and scare her away, so she wouldn't dare to provoke her again in the future.
The thought that she would have peace in the future made Emmeline feel a lot better.
Just then, a familiar figure suddenly appeared outside the window.
"Emmeline, what are you thinking about?"
Stunned for a moment, Emmeline then came to her senses.
Gathering her focus, she saw Isaac standing outside the window with his hands clasped behind his back, and he was looking at her with a smile.
Raising her eyebrows, she said, "Why are you here?"
"I'm bored at home, so I came here to have a look."
As he was speaking, he looked around, then turned to her and asked. "Let's go for a walk?"
After thinking for a moment, she agreed.
In truth, she was quite familiar with Isaac. Four and a half years ago, when she was still together with Jara, she got along pretty well with his friends and had a good relationship with them.
Isaac was the successor of Mills Group. He had been doted upon by his family since he was a child, and he was well known as the rich kid in that area.
His family didn't have any objection to him being friends with Jara. In fact, they strongly support their friendship.
Therefore, Isaac always came over to hang out with Jara every now and then, and the two of them seemed to have a strong bond with each other.
Emmeline did not dislike Isaac. After she went out, they strolled along the small pebbled pavement in the garden.
Isaac asked her, "Have you talked things through with Jara?"
Hearing that, Emmeline was stunned.
She didn't expect that he would ask such a question.
WIth a faint smile, she replied, "There's nothing to talk about."
Instantly, Isaac's face darkened slightly.
After a while, he sighed and said, "You know Jara's personality. He is only mean on the surface but deep down he is a good person. It was obvious that he is still deeply in love with you, but he won't admit it no matter what. Indeed, he did you wrong back then, and he was too embarrassed to tell you. However, over the past four years, he had expressed it, and we saw it clearly. Now that you are released, the fact that he is willing to keep you by his side goes to show that you are still very important to him. Let go of the hatred in the past, and look forward."
As Emmeline looked ahead, she noticed the golden sunshine penetrating through the branches and leaves above the winding corridor, forming circles of mottled light and shadow on the ground.
Then, she said lightly, "Tell me. If he was really guilty in the past four years, then why didn't he bail me out of jail?"
Hearing that, Isaac was staggered.
Subconsciously, he blurted. "Back then, you..."
"Didn't you all know that I didn't kill that woman?"
As she spoke, she tilted her head slightly and looked at him. Her crystal clear eyes were like a deep lake, reflecting his reflection clearly.
At that moment, Isaac was at a loss for words.
Seeing that, Emmeline said with a smile, "In fact, I don't hate him for sending me to jail. If I really did it, the law will judge me, then I have nothing to say."
"I hate him for wronging me. In order to put me in jail, he did his best to frame me. Isaac, don't tell me that you don't know who killed that woman. That was his woman, and he actually killed her. Is there anything he can't do?"
Hearing that, Isaac had not expected that she would say such a thing.
Realizing that he might have done the opposite of helping today, he hurriedly explained. "Emmeline, listen to me, things are not how you think it is. That woman is not his woman, and they have nothing to do with each other..."
"Nothing to do with each other?" Emmeline raised her eyebrows, then smiled. "Isaac, I saw them lying on a bed with my own eyes. Do you think your eyes work better than mine?"
When Isaac heard that, he froze.
He felt tiny beads of sweat seeping out his back like tiny needles pricking into his pores, making him shivered.
Then, he fell silent, and after Emmeline realized that, she didn't say anything further.
The two of them walked forward in silence. After walking for a long time, Emmeline suddenly spoke.
"He's the one who asked you to come here today, right?"
When Isaac heard that, he froze for a moment. In the end, he still nodded his head honestly.
When Emmeline saw his response, she was quite surprised. Initially, she was only making a casual guess, but she did not expect that he really admitted it.
In her mind, she thought it was ironic, but at the same time, it was a little funny. Concurrently, there were some other small and indescribable emotions intertwining inside, like a ball of mixed feelings.
Then, she said softly, "It seems that he really wants me to stay."
These words were the truth.
Isaac didn't deny it. Immediately, Emmeline added. "Why didn't he tell me himself?"
Smiling bitterly, Isaac shrugged his shoulders. "Who knows? Probably because you won't listen. He knows that as long as the words came out of his mouth, there will always be a wall in between. You wouldn't want to listen to it. For everything he said, you would definitely question him. That's why he gave this task to me."
At this point, Isaac let out a sigh.
In truth, he was quite confused about what happened between the two of them.
"Tell me. Didn't the both of you get along pretty well back then? You were childhood sweethearts. What a great relationship! Why did you end up like this?"
Hearing that, Emmeline's heart trembled slightly.
She too wondered why did they end up like this.
Clearly, they used to live in each other's pockets; they understood and trusted each other the most, and they needed each other the most. In the end, why did everything changed completely?
Emmeline couldn't find the answer, and in fact, no one could.
Afterward, a sense of silence accompanied them as they walked toward the end of the corridor. Turning her head, Emmeline looked at Isaac and said, "Tell him that what is done cannot be undone. As for the future, let's just take it one step at a time. Don't come back to me and talk to me about this again."
Hearing that, Isaac frowned.
In the face of Emmeline's firm and cold response, it was obvious that he didn't agree.
After hesitating for a moment, he asked, "Is there really no chance of turning back?"
But Emmeline pulled the corner of his mouth sarcastically.
"No."
After that, she turned around and walked straight toward the direction of her room.
And Isaac did not follow her.
Standing there quietly, he watched as she left. He waited until she disappeared completely at the corner of the corridor before letting out a helpless sigh. Then, he shook his head as he turned around and walked in the other direction.
