Chapter 792 Taking Risk

Of course, Keira could not wait to leave, so she packed up her things and left without thinking.
At that moment, she had just moved out of the dormitory when she received a phone call from Emmeline. Immediately, she was excited to meet her.
The two of them arranged to meet at foreign restaurant.
The well-decorated restaurant was unlike any average foreign restaurant on the main street. Not only the ingredients were delicious, but the atmosphere and decor were also top-notch.
It was Keira's first time to dine in a place like this. When she came in, she felt a little uneasy.
As the waiter led her to the private room on the second floor, it was not until she saw Emmeline sitting in the room that she was finally able to relax.
"Emmeline!"
Immediately, she shouted her name and walked over with a smile.
When Emmeline looked up and realized it was Keira, she greeted her with a smile. "You're here! Have a seat."
Following that, Keira walked to the opposite side of the table and sat down, then noticed the food had been served.
Emmeline picked up a slice of bread and dipped it in the soup and said, "Let's eat first, and then we can talk afterward."
Hearing that, Keira nodded as she picked up her fork and began eating the plate of spaghetti that was in front of her.
"Mmmm! It tastes so good!"
She quinted her eyes and exclaimed upon delight.
Glancing at her, Emmeline said with a smile, "Then eat more!"
As she spoke, she shared some of her food with Keira.
Keira, on the other hand, happily accepted it and said at the same time, "Emmeline, you should eat more too."
"Sure."
The two enjoyed their food in a lively and peaceful manner. As the aroma of the food brushed against their faces, it was as if they were carried away, forgetting all the worries in the world.
It was almost an hour later when they finished dinner.
Then, Emmeline asked the waiters to clear the table. Following that, she ordered a pot of green tea to digest the food.
Leaning against the back of the chair, she looked at Keira, who was enjoying herself and equally having a 'food baby', then said, "Keira, I'm leaving."
Suddenly, Keira was stunned.
She looked at Emmeline in surprise.
"Leaving? Where are you going?"
After thinking for a moment, Emmeline replied, "I'm going on a trip to F Country, and maybe within the country too."
Within the country... She was referring to Ascijan.
Hearing this, Keira frowned. Somehow, she had a bad feeling about this.
Hence, she couldn't help but ask, "Why do you want to go? Isn't it good here?"
But Emmeline smiled faintly.
Leisurely leaning against the back of the chair, she lifted her right hand and placed it on the table, while she rubbed the cup in her hand with her fingertips casually.
Then, she said in a low voice, "This is a good place indeed, but I have something more important to do."
As her words came out, Keira became a little worried. "What is it? Can you do it alone? Do you need my help?"
Upon seeing her reaction, Emmeline smiled.
Her smile was like a gentle spring breeze, caressing Keira's face. For some reason, Keira was blushing all of a sudden as she said bashfully, "I know I am not as capable as you. I might even be a burden if I go with you. But I'm really worried about you, Emmeline..."
BItting her lips, she seemed a little hesitant, as if something came to her mind suddenly, but she did not dare to say it.
But when she looked up and saw Emmeline's bright and lazy gaze, she mustered the courage to speak out in the end.
"Emmeline, I know that you are different from me. You are different from the ordinary people around me. You are very capable, very smart, and very good at making money. What you do may be something that ordinary people like us will never or dare to imagine in our lifetime."
"But it also means that there will be a very high risk, right? No matter how smart you are or how capable you are, there will always be a day when you lose control of everything. Otherwise, you would not have been sent to prison four years ago."
"So, I've been meaning to say that, if possible, can you stop doing it? Isn't it great to live a simple and peaceful life like this?"
"Even though you'll earn less, at least you're safe. We should value our lives. Why should we put ourselves in danger for the benefit that doesn't belong to us?"
When Emmeline heard that, her eyes squinted.
Coupled with her cold temperament, her phoenix-like eyes gave off a dangerous aura when they slightly narrowed.
Then, she moved her lips and asked, "The benefit that doesn't belong to us? Keira, how do you know this?"
Suddenly, Keira froze when she was asked that question.
Slightly lowering her head, after a long while, she said in a low voice, "I figured it out on my own."
Hearing that, Emmeline was silent.
She knew that Keira had already tried her best to make her words more euphemistic, but she still managed to expressed her true thoughts from the bottom of her heart.
Perhaps, Keira felt that Emmeline was doing something illegal, which was why she had been sent to jail back then. Did Keira think Emmeline was hurting innocent people?
With the thought in mind, Emmeline couldn't help but laugh.
It was true that what she had done was of nothing good. In some aspects, it was against the law. However, she would never admit that she had harmed an innocent person.
After all, even if she did kill someone before, it was always the people in the circle. Those people were not innocent.
The blood on their hands was definitely more than hers.
This path was like a tightrope. Everyone wanted to squeeze on it, but it could only accommodate that many people. Either one of them would go down.
The cake was only so big, and everyone wanted a piece of it. If she didn't make a move, the others would have done it. By that time, she would be the one to die instead of them.
Therefore, she could not be soft-hearted in this field. Sometimes, she even had to be cruel and merciless.
That being said, she would never hurt any innocent person, nor would she ever implicate them.
This was her principle and it was also her bottom line.
However, she did not intend to tell Keira about this, nor explain it to her.
It might not be a bad thing if Keira really misunderstood Emmeline and thought that she was that kind of person.
In that case, she would at least be alerted and have a wall up against her, so she would know her boundaries.
In this world, not everyone was suitable to see the gray area. If possible, she would rather Keira stay like this forever. To her, it was either black or white. Underneath the sun, she could always see light and hope. Unlike Emmeline, she could only walk in the darkness, staring into the abyss, and became the center of its attention.
When Keira noticed that Emmeline was not speaking, she was even more anxious.
At the same time, she felt slightly regretful and remorseful.
It was because Emmeline had been so kind to her. She would always help her and look out for her, but now, Keira actually talked to her in that way.
At that moment, she felt she was being an ungrateful person.
Thinking of this, Keira could not help but raise her head and glanced at her.
