When Emmeline thought about this, her eyes became colder.

Upon entering the room, Jara let go of the wheelchair. With that, Emmeline turned around and instructed Yunne, "I would like to have a word with him, so you may leave first."
As Yunne was glad to see them together, she smilingly nodded and left.
Seeing that, Emmeline knew that Yunne had misunderstood her and Jara. Instead of reconciling with each other, they were actually here to discuss her plan.
Even so, she was not in the mood to explain to Yunne.
After Yunne left, she told Jara to close the door before saying in a deep voice, "I believe that the person who did the poisoning was targeting to kill me. Since they fail this time, I'm very certain that they will come up with another plan."
Upon hearing her opinion, Jara nodded in agreement.
"Which group do you think they are from?"
"The first group," Emmeline uttered.
Then, her eyes turned cold and sharp.
"They wanted my life, so they used one of the deadliest poison, arsenic. In fact, if it isn't for Kayla's good health and the fact that there are doctors in the castle, she might be dead by now."
"However, I'm different. Everyone knows that I'm still recovering from my serious injuries. So, if I consume arsenic, it will worsen my conditions, and I could be dead anytime."
Jara strongly agreed with her point.
Therefore, he asked, "Do you have any plan now?"
Hearing that, Emmeline slightly puckered her delicate eyebrows.
Then, she spoke, "Even though they made such a big move and used plenty of tricks, we still can't trace them. Besides, we can't keep waiting for them to show themselves. This time, Kayla got poisoned. How about next time? I am worried that I will be a time bomb that causes harm to people around me."
For some reason, upon hearing this, Jara suddenly started to laugh.
With his pair of deep-set eyes, he was mischievously staring at her.
"It seems like you don't hate her now. Are you guilty that she is hurt because of you?" he chuckled.
When Emmeline heard what he said, she was dumbfounded. After a while, she came to her senses, and her face darkened.
"What are you talking about? Since when do I hate her?" she glowered.
While chuckling, he came closer. Suddenly, he leaned over and put his hands on the handles of her wheelchair before he whispered, "Aren't you jealous? You may sound firm, but you are soft-hearted. So, I don't believe you."
As his low and cold voice went into her ears, she could feel that her heart fluttered.
And strangely, her face suddenly felt hot.
Feeling nervous, she turned her head away and looked somewhere else.
At the same time, she insisted on denying, "I don't get what you mean."
Hearing that, Jara softly chuckled.
After that, he decided to let her off the hook. Instantaneously, he straightened up and returned to his usual cold and self-restraint look.
Taking two steps back, he leaned against a table behind him. "Go on."
For a while, Emmeline was confused. Then, she realized that he was hinting her to go on with the previous topic.
Annoyed, she cursed him inwardly.
Nevertheless, she wiped away the blush on her face and continued.
"We can't always be on guard against them. Since they refuse to show up, I will go out and lure them. After hiding for so long, they could only think of poisoning me. Obviously, they have tried other methods, but they failed to harm me, so they chose such method with a low success rate."
"Even so, if there is another way, they won't do this. After all, by doing this, we would be aware of their presence."
"If that's the case, why don't we play along with them? You can pretend that you didn't know the poison was meant for me and blame me for poisoning Kayla out of jealousy."

When Jara heard that, his gaze darkened.

With that, his face turned cold.
A moment later, he sneered, "I thought you would ask me to act like your boyfriend and celebrate the Festival of Lights together. In this way, we have a reason to go out together and achieve our goal."
Nonetheless, Emmeline shook her head.
"To be honest, I had the same thought. However, I think it will be dangerous as we haven't figured out their identity. Instead, it will be better for me to go out alone. If anything happens, you can be my backup."
Despite listening to her explanation, Jara was upset.
"Dangerous? Will it be more dangerous for two people than for you to go out alone?"
Emmeline frowned.
Obviously, she could sense his anger and know what he was mad about. Even so, she decided not to respond to that.
Instead, she answered in a low voice, "Jara, I don't want you to get hurt because of me."
When Jara heard that, his eyes narrowed.
