Chapter 752 After Four Years

The jailor didn't think too much.
After all, in the past four years, Emmeline had behaved so well.
In fact, she was so obedient that she didn't look like a vicious criminal at all. Instead, she was like a gentle little girl that made people want to protect her.
Sometimes, the jailor would even sigh in her heart.
"Look! What an obedient girl, but her life was destroyed, just like that."
When comforting Emmeline, the jailor said that she was still young and her future was bright.
However, the jailor knew well that Emmeline's charge as a murderer and her identity as an ex-convict would greatly affect her future.
Thinking about that, the jailor could not help but sighed.
After releasing the handcuffs, Emmeline returned to the cell and sat on the bed.
On the other hand, the jailor locked the door and turned to leave.
Once again, the cell quieted down.
With her legs crossed, Emmeline sat there quietly. Her body was so thin and weak to the point of being pitiful. However, in other people's eyes, she looked tough.
To them, she was like a dauntless pine tree. Even after facing the harsh wind, it would still stand there with great perseverance.
While lowering her head, she remained silent. After some time, she took out a pencil from the bottom of her pillow and began to scribble on the clean white wall beside the bed.
On the wall, there were messy lines, as well as some letters and numbers that were difficult to understand by ordinary people.
In a flash, Emmeline organized them and finally managed to convert them into the answer that she wanted.
Looking at the result on the wall, she narrowed her eyes and raised the corner of her mouth.
It had been four years, which was a total of one thousand four hundred and sixty days.
During those times, she did not do anything except this one thing.
Because she believed that this thing was enough to help her turn over a new leaf after she was released.
......
Time passed by in a flash.
In the blink of an eye, it was already the next day.
The day when Emmeline would be officially released from prison.
In the morning, she woke up to the sound of the horn, quickly washed up, and went out to have breakfast with the other prison mates.
Although she didn't have a good life during the four years of imprisonment, she had not suffered much bullying in prison thanks to the Murray Family's orders.
Moreover, due to her special case, the prison had specially prepared a cell for her and locked her up independently.
This seemed to be a punishment for her. After all, being locked up independently meant that except for mealtime and time for a walk, she would be alone at any other time.
Hence, she would have no one to speak to for more than a thousand days and nights.
If this happened to any other person, they wouldn't be able to bear with it.
However, according to Emmeline's character, this wasn't a problem for her.
Anyway, she was not the kind of person who liked to talk. She preferred to live alone because it was much peaceful.
Moreover, this gave her the chance to do the thing she wanted.
Thinking about that, Emmeline smiled.
After breakfast, it was time to leave the prison.
But before that, there was still a series of procedures to be completed.
As the prison mates knew that she would be released today, they congratulated her after breakfast.
Actually, she didn't live with them nor have much interaction with them, but they didn't have many friends in this place.
Usually, they would see her outside the cell, and they knew that she didn't talk much nor didn't arouse people's dislike. Therefore, they were fairly nice toward her.
Now that she was about to go out, they would naturally come over to congratulate her.
Being congratulated, Emmeline accepted them one by one without saying anything.
Then, she was called over by the jailor to go through the procedures.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
On this very morning, everyone in the castle could feel a low, oppressive aura emanating from Jara.
The morning sunlight came in through the window and lit up the whole room. However, it could not shine through the haze in Jara's heart.
At this time, he was sitting in front of his desk, staring at the document on his computer in a daze.
In fact, he had opened that document half an hour ago, but he was still stuck on the first page.
Just then, Uncle Poick came in with some medicine and placed it in front of him.
Looking at Jara, he asked with concern, "Mr. Holland, are you alright?"
At once, Jara came back to his senses.
Then, his sharp gaze fell on Uncle Poick's face. For a few seconds, he was in a trance before he finally recovered and shook his head.
"I'm fine."
As he spoke, he took the pills and swallowed them.
Seeing him, Uncle Poick let out a sigh.
"You have taken your medicine for a long time, but there is no sign of recovery. Besides, I have no idea when Dr. Cowell will be back. I am worried that..."
"I'm fine."
Before Uncle Poick could finish his words, Jara interrupted him.
After that, Jara held the mouse and moved the cursor on the screen before he uttered, "If you have nothing else, you may leave."
Upon being ordered, Uncle Poick looked at Jara while having the urge to say something.
However, he didn't dare to disturb Jara. So, he took the tray, turned around, and went out.
As soon as Uncle Poick exited the room, he saw Kayla standing at the other end of the corridor, looking expectantly in his direction.
At the sight of her, he puckered his brows.
Since the last incident, his impression of Kayla had been destroyed.
Not only she had evil intentions, but she also tried to approach Jara several times. At a glance, anyone with discerning eyes could tell what she was up to.
Uncle Poick wasn't a stubborn person. Moreover, for all these years, he was worried as there was no woman by Jara's side.
But that didn't mean that he would let any random woman get close to Jara.
Previously, he thought that Kayla was pitiful and it was not her fault for being sold to this place.
But later on, her behavior and desires had completely changed his opinion about her.
Indeed, those who are pitiful must have a cause for having sunk to their lows.
Even though she was abducted, trafficked, and bullied, she harbored bad intentions and was ungrateful to Jara. Besides, she even had the delusion that she could hook up with Jara and take advantage of his wealth.
To achieve her purpose, she didn't hesitate to make use of her savior.
So, she was definitely not worthy enough to be Jara's woman.
Despite cursing Kayla in his heart, Uncle Poick looked calm on the outside.
Later, he walked to Kayla and asked, "Miss Burke, why are you here? Is there anything? Mr. Holland is busy, so if there is nothing urgent, you'd better not disturb him."
When Kayla had just arrived yesterday, she didn't know about Uncle Poick's true identity and the fact that Jara was so dependent on him.
That was why she had offended him so much.
After she learned from Millay that he had a high status in the castle, she deeply regretted her actions.
