Chapter 101 Admit It, You're in Love with Cecily
The security guards looked to the manager for guidance. Ophelia and Elysia couldn't wait to see Cecily in an embarrassing plight.
However, Cecily was calm and collected, not believing for a second that a manager of such a large hotel would recklessly throw out a guest without cause.
The manager said nothing, and the guards didn't make a move.
Passersby, sensing the commotion, couldn’t help but sneak a peek inside.
"What's all the commotion?" Hayden asked, following behind Darian, but pausing to glance over.
Darian, who was pacing ahead, showed no interest and continued toward his private booth.
Hayden, watching Darian move away, didn't rush to catch up. Instead, he leveraged his height for a clearer view into the booth. "Holy smokes," he exclaimed, taken aback.
He hadn't anticipated finding Cecily and Ophelia in the booth. They appeared to be at odds...
With a glimpse of mischievousness in his eyes, Hayden quickly caught up to Darian. "Mr. Darian, guess what's happening back there."
"Not interested," Darian replied, his voice cold as ice.
"Then guess who's there."
Darian turned to look at him, raising an eyebrow. "Do you really have nothing better to do?"
Hayden's lips curled into a playful smirk. "Aren't you the slightest bit curious?"
Darian entered the booth, speaking indifferently, "If you want to tell, just tell."
When Darian walked into the private room, everyone who was seated stood up and greeted him with a mix of reverence and awe. Darian's face, however, was expressionless.
Hayden, standing next to him with a smirk, said, "Looks like your ex-wife and your fiancee are on the brink of a serious confrontation."
Darian's brows furrowed, and he shot Hayden a chilling glance.
Hayden chuckled quietly and remarked, "Why not take a look? I'm clueless about what's going on, but it appears your darling is in a tough spot. She might even be kicked out of the hotel. Poor thing, she could be in for quite a rough night. Perhaps she could use a knight in shining armor right about now."
Darian's expression grew even colder as he scoffed, "Cecily has more than enough people to protect her. She doesn't need your concern."
"Hah," Hayden couldn't help laughing outright. "Darian, I never said that Cecily was the one getting thrown out. Oh? Are you admitting she's the one who has your heart?"
Darian's face darkened.
Hayden swore he'd only mentioned "your darling" casually. He hadn't planned on setting a trap for Darian or expected him to automatically put Cecily in that category.
Hayden's laughter grew louder.
Darian subconsciously classifying Cecily as someone dear to him made Hayden wonder what Darian meant by that.
Things were getting more interesting by the moment.
Hayden teased, "Darian, the subconscious mind reveals the truth. Just admit it, you've fallen for Cecily."
Darian's expression grew even darker, casting a chilling frost over the once-warm confines of the private room.
Darian thought of Cecily's face and the words she had said.
Her favorite person was named Griffin.
Her boyfriend was Blaise.
The person she hated the most was Darian!
With these thoughts in his mind, Darian chuckled dismissively. He would never fall for that crazy woman unless he went crazy himself.
Without another word, Darian walked to the VIP seat and sat down, his dark eyes colder than ever.
Undeterred, Hayden continued to laugh, dragging Larkin into his amusement. "He's rattled, he's really rattled."
Darian's icy gaze swept over them, causing Hayden and Larkin to snap to attention in an instant.
Hayden found an empty seat and poured himself a glass of red wine, taking care of his own business. It was only when he lifted his head that he noticed everyone sitting upright, looking as though calamity was upon them.
Hayden, the culprit of the chaos, used his wine glass to hide the grin tugging at his lips. Just as he took a sip, he choked on it.
He noticed that the temperature in the private room seemed to have dropped a few degrees.
...
Before long, the waiter brought back the information they had found. "Manager, the guest who reserved this private room is named Mia."
On hearing that it wasn't Cecily's name, Ophelia's lips curled into an even more mocking smile. "You heard that, didn't you, Ms. Cecily? Why make things so ugly? Wouldn't it be easier to just leave?"
Cecily chuckled and shook her head. Sharing in Ophelia's joy brought her happiness as well, even though she knew it wouldn't last long. "What a coincidence, my assistant's name is Mia."
Ophelia's expression stiffened for a moment as she absorbed Cecily's calm demeanor. Quickly regaining composure, she laughed and said, "Go on with your story..."
"Sorry for being late," someone said. Several quick footsteps approached, and the newcomers were puzzled by the situation, unsure of what had transpired.
"Ms. Cecily," a woman dressed in business attire stepped up next to Cecily, her expression puzzled. "What's going on?"
Cecily raised her eyebrows and offered a mischievous smile. "Tell them your name."
The woman blinked and confidently said, "Mia."
Mia stood by Cecily's side, her eyes darting around the room at the shocked expressions of those present, wondering if her name was really that surprising.
At that moment, Ophelia and Elysia were completely dumbfounded.
"Is... is she really the boss of Star Rise?" someone in the room asked in doubt.
Mia looked toward the inquiring person. "Who, Ms. Cecily? Of course, she's the boss of Star Rise."
With that, the project managers also gathered behind Cecily, their demeanor unusually respectful.
Witnessing the scene, Ophelia stood frozen in place, her fingernails digging deep into her palms, hardly able to believe the unfolding reality.
The words "Cecily is truly the CEO of Star Rise" echoed in her ears.
Ophelia was in denial as her mind was flooded with questions, 'How could it be? How could Cecily be the one? When did she get her own company?'
Elysia couldn't believe it either as she stood frozen in place, momentarily speechless.
Cecily's gaze fell upon the two individuals with ghastly pale complexions, her tone icy as she addressed them, "Uninvited guests, is it time for you to depart from this private room?"
"It can't be, it can't be, it can't be," Elysia mumbled to herself before her voice escalated, finally shouting, "It's impossible! Cecily, where did you get the funds to start a company? What are you up to? Did you hire these actors?"
Cecily was growing irritated and she didn't want to explain any further. Turning to the hotel manager, she asked, "Could you please remove these two nuisances from here?"
Clearly understanding who the unwelcome visitors were, the manager's expression changed. He addressed Ophelia and Elysia, "Ladies, please stop causing a scene. I'm going to have to ask you to leave this room." His tone was still quite polite.
Ophelia's gaze bore into Cecily like a tempestuous storm, her fury a raging inferno threatening to engulf her. Despite the searing anger, she couldn't ignore the stark truth unraveling before her.
Cecily was the owner of Star Rise, the very person she had desperately wanted to uncover, and ironically, the one she despised most.
So, this was a game to her.
All these years, Cecily had been working against her from the shadows. Watching her own perfume brand continuously outperform hers must have been quite satisfying.
She had truly underestimated Cecily. Again and again, she had been taken by surprise.
"You knew I was investigating you, didn't you?" Ophelia asked through gritted teeth.
Cecily raised an eyebrow, affirming with a noncommittal nod, "Yes, I did. I also knew you were snooping around my perfumer."
Ophelia's face turned even more unsightly. "You deliberately enjoyed watching me make a fool of myself?"
Laughing at a fool who presented herself had been worthwhile, Cecily thought, as if saying, 'Why not? I considered it entertainment.'
