Chapter 139 Go to Hell

Upon hearing Ophelia's remark, the three of them had different reactions.

Blaise started to laugh, the corners of his mouth turning up in a way that reflected his delight at the term "boyfriend."

He raised an eyebrow, "You sure have a way with words."

Ophelia, detecting acknowledgment in their reactions, could barely conceal her triumphant smile.

"For such eloquence, you're rewarded with a trip to the countryside tomorrow." Blaise's smile disappeared at some point, replaced by two bloodthirsty gleams in his eyes.

He had obviously caught the insinuation in her words; her aim was to use him to drive a wedge between Cecily and Darian, to breed misunderstanding.

If it had been Cecily using such tactics, he might have been willing to be manipulated, but this plain woman dared to use him!

Upon hearing this, Ophelia's face paled, and terrifying memories rushed back to her. The dark, ominous aura emanating from the man only intensified the tingling of her scalp, making it harder for her to maintain her facade.

"Darian." Ophelia inched closer to Darian with a look of pleading for protection.

Blaise’s eyes, wrapped in chilliness, briefly swept over Darian and curved into a challenging smile.

Darian turned his gaze towards him, and their eyes clashed. The air seemed to be filled with gun smoke.

Cecily felt a suffocating pressure just being in the same area as these two menacing men.

Both were epitomes of terrible temper.

If they continued, Cecily feared they might start a fight right there and then.

In such a situation...

Cecily didn't even want to think about it.

Cecily bit her lip and turned to Blaise, "I'm hungry, come with me to grab something to eat."

With that, Cecily didn't give the two men another chance to lock eyes and pulled Blaise away.

Darian watched her retreating figure, his gaze turning even colder.

"Where are you going, Darian?"

Ophelia looked at the figure moving past her, her expression flickering with uncertainty.

"Don't follow me," said Darian with an icy voice.

Ophelia's footsteps stopped abruptly, and she stood there, unsure of what to do next.

With many eyes on them and for the sake of maintaining decorum, Ophelia forced a smile, pretending as if nothing had happened.

When her eyes landed on Cecily, barely concealed animosity flashed through them.

Cecily, tugging Blaise along, headed to the dessert section and picked a small plate to get a sweet treat. Blaise, with his hands in his pockets, stood beside her, laughing softly, "What's the rush?"

"Worried you guys would make the front page tomorrow with your hard punches," Cecily replied, taking a bite of the cake and nodding in approval. "Not bad. Want a piece?"

"Didn't you have dinner?"

"No, I rushed over here after changing clothes at the office," Cecily said as she popped an entire sweet into her mouth.

Blaise frowned, "Is this how you usually are?"

"Not really, just been busy these last couple of days," Cecily added some fruit to her plate.

After eating a bit, she scanned the crowd and stood up with purpose, "I've got other things to handle today. I'll be right back."

Many people attend these types of events primarily for business dealings, and Cecily was no exception.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have bothered to show up.

...

At the moment, Ophelia was standing with Elysia, her cold gaze fixated on Cecily. Ophelia clenched her jaw as she watched Cecily converse elegantly and effortlessly with various executives, receiving their admiring glances with poised indifference.

Just after Cecily had stepped away, Ophelia understood the meaning behind Darian's attitude towards her; he had clearly seen through her intentions.

Filled with resentment and frustration, Ophelia downed her glass of red wine in one swift gulp, her eyes shimmering with defiance.

Why did Cecily garner so much attention and importance? Why were so many people willing to stand up for her? What was so special about Cecily?

Ophelia's feelings of jealousy and imbalance surged. She slammed her wine glass down and strode toward Cecily.

"Ophelia, where are you going?" Elysia called out, having noticed Ophelia's excessive drinking and the slight drunkenness it had caused.

"Come here." Ophelia gestured to Elysia with a crooked finger, signaling her to follow.

Cecily had just excused herself after reluctantly sipping some red wine, fearing she might feel unwell. She stepped outside for fresh air.

Outside was a vast open-air swimming pool. A chilly autumn breeze swept past Cecily as she stood by the water's edge. After a moment, she decided to head back inside.

"Cecily," a cold voice called from behind.

Cecily stopped in her tracks, turned around, and saw Ophelia standing there.

With an indifferent look and without much emotion in her eyes, Cecily asked, "What do you want?"

Ophelia closed in swiftly and attempted to push Cecily with considerable force. Behind Cecily was the pool, but she nimbly dodged, and Ophelia didn't even graze her clothing.

Ophelia, not willing to give up and with eyes ablaze, ranted at Cecily as if she had lost control, "Cecily, why on earth did you come back? Why are you trying to take Darian from me?"

Advancing step by step, Ophelia confronted Cecily, who furrowed her brows. The sharp scent of alcohol hung heavily around Ophelia, indicating she had drunk quite a bit and was indeed intoxicated.

Cecily took a step back, distancing herself, her gaze turning icy.

"Why didn't you just die back then?" Ophelia screamed, "Why are you still alive? I hate you; you stole my Darian."

"You've done so many terrible things, why are you still alive?" Cecily asked coolly.

"Terrible things? Which one are you talking about? The one where I drugged you? Ha, so what if I did it? Back then, Darian still stood by me."

"But why is it different now? I've paid such a high price, and it seems like Darian doesn't see me anymore. It's all your fault, Cecily... all your fault..."

Watching Ophelia's almost mad state, Cecily didn't want to engage any further, so she turned and walked away.

"Cecily, go die," Ophelia's voice dropped as she lunged forward, grabbing Cecily's arm, trying to push her into the swimming pool.

Cecily caught her in a reverse grip, attempting to push her away, but losing her balance in her high heels, she stumbled, pulling both herself and Ophelia into the pool with a splash.

Elysia, standing to the side, immediately realized Ophelia’s reason for calling her over.

Elysia glanced at the two women in the pool and ran toward it, shouting, "Help, someone has fallen into the swimming pool!"

"Mr. Fitzgerald, Cecily intentionally pulled Ophelia into the swimming pool, and Ophelia... she can't swim..."

Upon hearing this, Darian's face tensed, and he hurried toward the outdoor pool.

The others, hearing someone had fallen in, also didn't hesitate to follow him.

Cecily was a swimmer; she strove to reach the surface, but as soon as she did, Ophelia grasped her arm tightly, pulling her down in a fierce attempt to drown her.

"Get off."

Cecily struggled to free herself from Ophelia's grasp.

"Feeling comfortable, Cecily? You wretch, you deserve to die."

Just as Cecily broke free and swam upwards, a cramp fiercely seized her leg.

Her heart sank with dread.

Damn it.

She had a cramp in her leg.

"Gurgle, gurgle..."

Cecily plunged suddenly into the water, struggling and choking on several mouthfuls of water.

Spotting someone approaching, Ophelia pretended she couldn't swim and started to shout desperately, "Help... Help me, please... Help!"
