Chapter 244 Regretting Not Leaving Evidence
Darian lowered his gaze and looked at her. His eyes were cold as ice. "Do you think I would believe you?"
Ophelia trembled, tears swirling in her eyes. She wasn't trusted, and her expression was starting to break.
"I didn't lie to you, really. Please believe me once. I have no reason to deceive you. This time, it's true."
Ophelia regretted not leaving any evidence back then.
She raised her hand and held up three fingers. "I swear, I swear on my life, it was really Cecily. You don't have to do anything if I tell a single lie this time. I will go and die myself, okay?"
Ophelia stared at Darian intensely, desperately needing him to believe her words.
Cecily had finally made a mistake and such a fatal one. How could she let go of this opportunity?
She was determined to make Cecily taste the pain she had endured.
Ophelia looked up, begging desperately, "Darian, if you don't believe me, just wait until you wake up and ask her yourself. I dare say this, do you think it's possible that I am lying?"
Darian lowered his gaze, his eyes icy and full of disbelief, and ruthlessly pushed her hand away.
"She wouldn't do that. It's you instead. I told you to stay and receive treatment. Who allowed you to leave? Who allowed you to go, causing trouble where she is?"
Suddenly, Ophelia couldn't find a reason.
"Do you want to frame her? Ophelia, do you think everyone is a fool? The surveillance footage shows that you took my mother away, and Cecily was determined to save her. Now you turn around and say that she harmed my mother. Do you not even think before lying?"
Darian interrogated sharply, his words cutting like ice.
"Yes, I admit that I took you away, but it was really Cecily who stabbed you. I didn't lie to you, really."
She forcefully grabbed Darian's hand, trembling uncontrollably due to her nervousness.
Darian coldly waved her away, "Ophelia, I don't believe a word you say."
Ophelia covered her chest and cried. She was really on the verge of breaking down. What else does she need to say for someone to believe her?
She shouted in an agitated state, "It really was her! Why can't you just believe me once? What does she have that makes you trust her like this?"
Like a madman, Ophelia continued to shout at everyone, and with so many journalists present, they recorded her deranged, ferocious appearance.
Tabitha and Tristan hurriedly rushed over when they saw their daughter going crazy in the crowd. Her hoarse and desperate appearance resembled that of a lunatic, far from the dignified demeanor of a young lady.
There were still reporters carrying cameras around them. Tabitha quickly went over and hugged Ophelia, saying, "Ophelia, Ophelia, calm down."
Ophelia couldn't calm down at all.
She really wanted Darian to believe her.
Mr. Fitzgerald shouted angrily, "Enough, all of you shut up."
His gaze turned to Darian, who had a cold expression, and he asked, "Do you really believe that Cecily?"
Darian's eyes were filled with fierceness, but he insisted, "It is impossible for it to be Cecily."
"Do you still think Ophelia is lying?" Mr. Fitzgerald's expression turned serious, and he stared at Darian intently.
"Otherwise?" Darian stared at Mr. Fitzgerald, clearly not believing a word of Ophelia's words.
"Cecily called me. We wouldn't have found Mom yet if it wasn't for her timely discovery. She saved Mom, and now she's being wrongly accused by you guys."
"Wrongly accused? Wrongly accused?" Mr. Fitzgerald waved his arms in anger, nodding continuously. "I think you're blindly believing her to the point where you can't even differentiate right from wrong anymore."
Darian furrowed his brow, his voice cold and chilling as he continued, "If you say she harmed you, maybe I can believe that to some extent because you do have a certain personality that provokes hatred."
"But what about her harming mom? What's the reason? What's the motive? She harmlessly attacked someone and even called me before doing so, asking me to come and save the person. Is that possible?"
Darian sneered at Ophelia's words. The most important thing now was that Cecily was missing.
He looked at Ophelia with a sharp gaze, "Why did you go to Cecily's place? What were you planning to do?"
Ophelia instantly clenched her palm tightly in response to Darian's sudden questioning. "I went to her."
Ophelia opened her mouth but couldn't find the right words to say.
"You can't explain it? Let me say it for you, then. You wanted to harm her but ended up encountering my mother. My mother stopped you, and in a fit of anger, you decided to hurt my mother and then went to seek revenge from Cecily, right?"
Ophelia couldn't admit it, shaking her head vigorously, tears forming a clear arc as they flew from her eyes.
"No, that's not it. It's not like that at all. I didn't harm you. I really didn't, Darian. How about this? When you wake up, you can ask her yourself, okay? If you don't believe me, you'll believe what you say, right?"
Ophelia was doing everything she could to make Darian believe her.
Darian looked at her now, his gaze devoid of any emotion. "Then let me ask you, where did Cecily go? According to your explanation, why did Cecily disappear?"
"She ran away! She must have run away!" Ophelia spoke decisively.
"Hm." Darian sneered. "Is that so? Well, you miscalculated. At the time, she was on the phone with me the whole time. I could hear the sounds of a struggle on her end. Now she's gone missing, kidnapped by someone."
"No! That was all staged by her! She staged it to deceive you!" Ophelia shouted through tears, gripping Darian's arm even tighter.
Darian pursed his lips, his face growing even darker. He raised his hand and pushed her away directly. "You can listen to those words yourself."
