Chapter 222 Please Don't Go
Cecily found the private room and hesitated before entering. Inside, it was quiet and tidy, not the chaotic scene she had imagined. Her gaze quickly fell on Darian, who was slumped on the sofa, surrounded by empty bottles, clearly intoxicated.
Cecily's heart raced as she approached, accidentally kicking a bottle. Tension gripped her, but Darian remained unresponsive. She cautiously reached out, gently calling his name. Suddenly, Darian's eyes snapped open, his grip on her wrist tight. His cold gaze bore into her as if trying to confirm her existence.
Cecily trembled, but Darian abruptly released her, his eyes filled with anger. He thought she was a figment of his imagination, haunted by her absence. "Get out!" he barked, consumed by frustration.
Cecily, taken aback, tried to calm him, offering to call someone to take him home. But Darian's voice, filled with regret, interrupted her. "I'm sorry, Cecily. I was wrong. Please come back."
His vulnerability moved Cecily. Despite her initial intention to leave, she couldn't bring herself to do so. She approached him, gently reassuring him. Darian, in a mix of disbelief and relief, held her hand tightly, unwilling to let go. "Please, don't go," he pleaded, his voice filled with desperation.
Cecily's heart wavered, and she found herself unable to resist his embrace.
