Chapter 713 Wanted

Cecily tugged at her lips. Aurelie had already fainted because of him, so this was the best they could do for now.

"Let's head back," Cecily said.

She called the driver to bring the car over and helped Aurelie into it. Remembering what Aurelie had said, Cecily instructed the bodyguards to search the area, just in case it really was Nathaniel.

"Hey, your phone." The person who had bumped into Aurelie shouted from behind.

"Thank you." Cecily retrieved Aurelie's phone.

"No problem, as long as she's okay. I saw her holding her stomach and thought she was going into labor. I was in a rush and accidentally bumped into her."

Cecily nodded slightly and got into the car to leave.

Darian had just returned to the Bennett Mansion and didn't see them. He called Cecily, but she didn't answer. Just as Darian was about to go out and look for them, he saw the car pulling in.

Cecily got out of the car. "Darian, you're back?"

"Where did you guys go?" Darian asked.

"Just went for a walk outside."

"I called you, but your phone was off."

"Yeah, it got broken in the collision." Cecily sighed, still shaken by the recent events.

Darian's brow furrowed. "What happened?"

Blaise's car slowly pulled up behind them. Seeing Blaise get out, Darian was even more puzzled. "What are you doing here?"

"Your wife almost got killed," Blaise said.

Darian's face grew even more stern, his gaze immediately shifting to Cecily.

"I'm fine, you don't need to worry. Blaise happened to show up and saved me. Let's get Aurelie to her room first, and I'll explain everything to you."

"Alright." Darian's voice was heavy.

Cecily had Aurelie taken to her room. Blaise hadn't hit her too hard, so she would wake up in a few hours. Cecily also told Rowan Griffin to go to bed before heading downstairs.

Darian listened to Blaise recount the incident, his face growing darker and his hands clenching tightly on his knees.

Blaise leaned back on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and took a slow drag.

"Don't smoke, she's pregnant," Darian said.

Blaise paused, raised an eyebrow, stubbed out the cigarette, and got up to open a window slightly.

Cecily came downstairs and saw Blaise standing by the window. "What are you doing by the window? Come back and sit."

"Getting rid of the smoke smell." After standing for a while, Blaise slowly walked back and sat down. "Who have you guys offended in the past two months?"

"You first tell me how you knew I was there and that I was in danger?" Cecily asked.

She was surprised when Blaise showed up.

"Someone put a bounty on your head." Blaise leisurely took a sip of water. "Guess how much your life is worth."

"How much?"

Cecily was genuinely curious.

"Guess."

"I can't guess."

Darian looked at the two of them and knocked on the table helplessly. "So, is the main point tonight how much the bounty is?"

Blaise raised an eyebrow, smiling freely.

Cecily was really curious. "So how much is my life worth?"

Darian remained silent.

Blaise made a gesture.

"Eight million dollars? That's quite a lot," Cecily said incredulously.

Blaise chuckled. "Eighty million dollars."

Cecily exchanged a glance with Blaise. "No wonder someone tried to kill me today. Turns out I'm worth that much. So, anyone on the Ranking of Assassins who kills me can get that eighty million dollars, right?"

"Yes. You'll be seeing a lot of famous assassins in the near future. Exciting, isn't it?" Blaise smiled playfully.

Cecily laughed dryly.

Coming to Detroit, she ended up on an assassin's hit list.

The key point was that someone was hunting her, and she had been wandering around outside without a care.

Seeing the two of them still in the mood to joke around, Darian felt a bit helpless.

"It's Hunter and his people," Darian said.

Blaise raised an eyebrow. "Since you know who it is, that makes things easier."

"What do you mean?" Cecily asked.

"You hire me, and I'll take care of him for you. Then you'll be safe. How about that?"

Cecily immediately refused. "No way. He's my uncle. Besides, we can't be sure it's him."

Cecily thought Hunter wouldn't go that far, even though she knew they truly hated her this time.

But to take her life, Cecily thought Hunter wouldn't dare. First, because Vivienne was the head of the family. If Cecily was killed by an assassin the day after their conflict, Hunter would be the first suspect. Unless Hunter wanted a complete fallout, he wouldn't go that far.

Second, she was still Darian's wife. If she died, everyone knew Darian would investigate thoroughly and wouldn't let it go. So unless Hunter didn't want to live either, he wouldn't do it.

"If it's not him, then it's Giselle," Darian said coldly.

Cecily had the same suspicion. Giselle was more reckless than Hunter, so it was more likely her.

But how would Giselle know how to hire an assassin?

"If you don't want to take action, then tell me what to do. From now on, everyone around you will be out to kill you," Blaise interjected.

The person behind this had placed an order with all the assassin organizations, and the high price of eighty million dollars was very tempting. There would definitely be those who weren't afraid to die, like what happened tonight.

"Can we accurately find out who placed the order?" Cecily asked.

"No, no one uses their real identity for such orders. It's all fake. Even if you investigate, what you find might not be real. And it takes time. So it's very difficult."

"That makes it tough." If they could find out who it was, Cecily could identify the person and resolve the issue.

Now, not knowing who it was made things very complicated.

At this moment, Giselle looked at the person who had just leaped into her room from the window, her eyes cold. "Did you succeed?"

"No, someone suddenly appeared and saved her. Otherwise, she would have been dead tonight." The assassin's voice was filled with cold killing intent, making it chilling to hear.

Giselle stood up, her eyes narrowing. "Aren't you supposed to be the best assassins? You can't even kill one woman? I'm starting to doubt if my money was well spent."

The assassin, wearing a black baseball cap and mask, had his entire face hidden in the shadows. "Don't worry, this was just a small mistake. Next time, she won't be so lucky."

Giselle spread her hands, looking at her still swollen hands, and a surge of hatred washed over her.

She clenched her fists, the pain making her close her eyes tightly. "Make it quick. I don't want to wait any longer. And don't forget, you're not the only ones after this bounty. Whoever kills Cecily first gets the eighty million dollars."

"Understood. Rest assured, I won't make another mistake."

"Alright, leave now. Don't reveal my identity, or you know the rules of your organization."

The assassin nodded, glanced towards the door, and quickly leaped out of the window, disappearing without a trace, as if he had never been there.

Giselle gritted her teeth. "Cecily, just you wait. Your death is coming."

The door was suddenly pushed open, and Hunter and his wife, Melinda Kingsley, quickly walked in.

"Dad, Mom?" Giselle frowned slightly, glanced at the window, and then looked back at them with a normal expression. "What's wrong with you two? You didn't even knock."

Hunter's eyes were stern, his gaze fixed on Giselle's face. "What did you do?"

Giselle pretended not to understand, looking at Hunter. "Dad, what are you talking about?"

"You know what I'm talking about. Who were you just talking to?"

Giselle had already composed herself when she met Hunter's gaze. She thought she was flawless. "Dad, I was the only one in the room just now. You must have heard wrong."

"You hired someone to kill Cecily, didn't you?" Hunter's voice was more serious than ever.

"No." Giselle shook her head, firmly denying it.

"Tell me the truth!"

"No." Giselle bit her lip.

"Melinda and I just heard you talking to someone at the door. Tell me the truth. This is very important. Speak!" Hunter shouted.

Giselle's shoulders trembled in fear.

"Why are you yelling? Can't you talk to Giselle nicely? She's already hurt, and you're still yelling at her." Melinda was unhappy and went to comfort Giselle.

Unexpectedly, Hunter, who had always doted on Giselle, pushed Melinda aside and grabbed Giselle, asking directly, "I want you to tell me the truth right now. What did you do? Giselle, I usually don't care about your whims, but this is a serious matter, beyond your control."

Hearing Hunter's words, Giselle bit her lip and finally said, "Yes, I did. I placed a bounty of eighty million dollars on Cecily's life. The person I was talking to just now was the assassin who acted tonight. Unfortunately, that bitch got lucky and didn't die."

"Ah!" Giselle was slapped across the face, falling onto the bed.

Melinda immediately went to protect Giselle. "Giselle, are you okay?"

"Hunter, are you crazy? Why did you hit Giselle?"

Giselle held her face, unable to believe it. Hunter actually hit her for Cecily?

"I want you to cancel that bounty immediately, right now!" Hunter demanded in the sternest tone.

He had never spoken to Giselle like this before.

It was also the first time he realized how bold Giselle had become.

Usually, her small mischiefs were harmless, and even if Vivienne knew, she wouldn't intervene. But this time, Giselle wanted Cecily's life.

"Aren't you afraid Cecily's family will come after you? How dare you hire someone to kill her? Do you have a death wish?" Hunter said angrily.

If Cecily really died, Giselle would be the first suspect. Any one of those three people would not let Giselle off.
