Chapter 630: Fainted from Anger
"Did you tell Aurelie everything?" Cecily asked Nathaniel, her eyes narrowing.
Nathaniel wasn't shocked that Cecily knew he wasn't the one who saved Aurelie eleven years ago. She had probably grilled Hayden about it. What baffled him was why Cecily, like him, hadn't spilled the beans to Aurelie.
"If you knew, why didn't you tell her?" Nathaniel asked, puzzled.
Cecily raised an eyebrow, "Don't get it twisted. I wasn't covering for you. I just never found the right moment."
Cecily felt stuck. Ever since she found out, there just hadn't been a good time to break it to Aurelie. Aurelie had been through so much lately, and dropping this bomb would only make things worse.
"Well, thanks for not telling her back then," Nathaniel said with a bitter smile. If she had, Aurelie might have cut him off completely by now.
"Got a plan?" Cecily asked.
"She doesn't want to see me right now," Nathaniel sighed, looking down. Then he looked up and said, "Can you keep an eye on her?"
"You don't even need to ask. But she might need some space right now."
Cecily knew Aurelie too well. Aurelie had been carrying guilt for years. Telling her it was all for nothing would be too much for her to handle.
Cecily also wondered what really happened back then. How could Aurelie be so sure Nathaniel was her savior without ever meeting him?
She shook her head and sighed. Too much time had passed. If Aurelie still wanted to find her real savior, it would be nearly impossible.
"Alright, I'll leave it to you," Nathaniel said politely.
Cecily noticed Nathaniel had changed a lot recently. "How are things going with you? I saw the mess online. Even though you got those people to come clean and prove Stanley hired them to hurt you, it's been too long. Your evidence has holes. If your dad insists on protecting Stanley, you might be in trouble."
Nathaniel sneered, "If he can't even protect himself, he won't be able to protect Stanley."
Sure, the evidence had gaps, but the recording he had was a game-changer.
The Kensington family's problems were piling up. Terry looked at a recording that had suddenly popped up online, his face going pale with panic.
Terry played the recording over and over. It was exactly what they had said in the conference room that day.
Terry barked, "Get all that news offline. What happened back then is done. Don't dig it up again."
Nathaniel felt a pang of sadness. "I spent ten years in prison because of this. Do you really think it's fair to just say it's over, Dad?"
"What do you want then? You want to tear the Kensington family apart to feel better?"
"Why not?"
"Nathaniel, I know you were wronged, but it's been years. You've served your time. There's no need to stir things up again. I'll make it up to you. Just let Stanley off the hook and take down the news," Terry pleaded.
"Alright, if it's compensation, show some sincerity. The 15% shares you gave Stanley—I'm your son too. Don't play favorites. Give me 15% of the shares as compensation, and I'll agree to let him go."
The recording clearly showed the three of them discussing Nathaniel's imprisonment eleven years ago. Terry explicitly asked Nathaniel to let Stanley go and take down the news.
This was basically admitting that the evidence released online was true.
Terry clenched his fists tightly.
He had underestimated his son again.
He always thought Nathaniel's target was just Stanley, but it wasn't. Nathaniel wasn't going to let him off the hook either.
There were lots of comments about them online, like: [One falsely accused Nathaniel, leading to his wrongful imprisonment for ten years. The other protected the culprit, abandoning Nathaniel to save Stanley.]
[One committed a crime, the other covered it up.]
[Both were equally despicable.]
Terry looked at the comments online, his face darkening.
Someone commented: [I remember this case because it was truly memorable. A biological father ignored his son, not even hiring a lawyer, as if he wanted the victim to be sentenced to death.]
Others chimed in: [Despicable. Ten years! How many ten years does a person have? And he was sent to prison by his own brother and father. How desperate must he have felt when he found out? So pitiful.]
And someone responded: [Such family members are better off without. I suggest not letting Terry and Stanley off the hook. Let them experience what it's like to be in prison for ten years.]
Most comments were calling for justice for Nathaniel, wanting to see Terry and Stanley severely punished.
Besides these, Terry saw even more outrageous comments, all cursing him and Stanley.
As a result, the Kensington Group was heavily impacted by this incident. The stock plummeted, evaporating billions of dollars.
Seeing this, Terry's face turned pale with anger, and he clutched his chest as he fainted.
