Chapter370 He Doesn't Recognize Her

In the span of a year, they had leveraged Bryan's connections, never resting for a moment, and had made quite a name for themselves in Silver Frost Capital. Freya had even secured a position at the Fitzgerald Group, becoming Darian's secretary.

She thought getting close to Darian might be challenging, but unexpectedly, Owen was quite supportive of her, clearly intending to bring them together.

What astonished them even more was that Darian had lost his memory; he didn't remember meeting them at the hospital in Detroit, nor did he remember Cecily.

'It's as if God himself is on our side. The only downside is that now Cecily has regained her sight and returned. How does she always get so lucky? Why couldn't she just stay blind forever?' Freya cursed inwardly.

"Mom, what should we do? She came back with a child. What if Darian sees them and remembers something? I've spent a whole year trying to win his heart, but he still treats me like any other employee. It's driving me crazy," said Freya.

"What are you afraid of? You haven't done anything wrong. Besides, it's not that easy for him to remember. Her return doesn't matter; she's just an ex-wife, while you are the woman who has been by Darian's side for a whole year now. Moreover, Owen doesn't like her. He won't allow her to get close to Darian again. Just relax," said Jennifer.

She patted Freya's shoulder and continued, "Didn't Owen give you an invitation to Mrs. Lockwood's birthday party tomorrow night? He even arranged for you to attend with Darian. You'll be his date, so make sure you look stunning."

With Jennifer's reassurance, Freya felt much more at ease. ‘That's right. Cecily is nothing. Darian has long forgotten her, while I have been by his side for an entire year. How could Cecily compare to me?’

Freya smiled sweetly. The thought of the party tomorrow filled her with joy.

At such a grand event, attending as Darian's date would draw everyone's attention to her. She would become the envy of all.

Compared to that, Cecily was practically insignificant.

Cecily tidied up at home and planned to go to the Fitzgerald Manor.

Since she had returned, she had no intention of hiding.

Besides, she had important matters to discuss with Owen.

It concerned Patrick's car accident from years ago. Over the past year, she had gradually uncovered some information. Although she hadn't yet identified the mastermind, the evidence she had gathered was enough to prove that the accident was no mere coincidence but a deliberate act.

At the Fitzgerald Manor, Cecily got out of the car, and the guards at the gate stopped her, scrutinizing her with a hint of surprise. "Miss Watson?"

Cecily breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the guards still recognized her, saving her a lot of trouble. "Please inform Owen that I have urgent matters to discuss with him and that he must see me."

"Isn't this Miss Watson? Long time no see." A man's mocking voice rang out, and Cecily turned to look at the speaker.

It was Victor, with his sister Aurelia standing beside him.

They sauntered over to Cecily, giving her a once-over. Victor let out a derisive laugh. "I heard Miss Watson's eyes were damaged. It seems they've healed quite well."

"Thank you for your concern. My eyes are indeed better," said Cecily.

Victor, hearing Cecily's cold tone, smiled indifferently. "Are you trying to enter the Fitzgerald family? I advise you to go back and save yourself the trouble."

Aurelia also sneered, "Things are different now. Darian doesn't even recognize you anymore. What are you doing here at the Fitzgerald family?"

Cecily's eyes narrowed. ‘He doesn't recognize me? What does that mean?’

Just as she was about to ask, a servant wheeled Sandra out slowly.

Seeing Cecily, Sandra's face showed no emotion, no surprise, as if she had long expected Cecily to return.

"Come in with me," she said calmly.

Cecily nodded slightly and followed Sandra.

Aurelia said irritably, "Aunt Sandra, Grandpa specifically instructed us not to let Cecily into the Fitzgerald family if we saw her."

Sandra cast a calm glance at her. "Mr. Fitzgerald invited her in. Do you have a problem with that?"

Aurelia wanted to say something, but Victor stopped her. With a strained smile, Victor said, "Go ahead. We have no objections."

Sandra then withdrew her gaze and led Cecily inside. "How are Rowan and Griffin?"

"They're doing well. If you'd like to see them, I can bring them over next time," Cecily replied.

Sandra's lips curled slightly. "Have a seat. I'll go get Mr. Fitzgerald."

Cecily nodded. "Alright."

Soon, Owen came down from upstairs. The moment he saw Cecily, his eyes still couldn't hide his displeasure.

Cecily politely stood up from the sofa.

To prevent Owen from embarrassing Cecily, Sandra said first, "Sit down. Don't be so formal."

Owen bent down to sit, glanced at Cecily with an authoritative air, and asked, "Your eyes are better?"

Cecily lightly pressed her lips together. "Yes, the bandages were just removed a few days ago."

"You left back then, why have you come back now?" Owen's voice was deep, each question laced with displeasure.

Cecily asked, "Before I answer that, may I ask you a question?"

Owen didn't speak, just narrowed his eyes.

Cecily continued, "Would you be willing to let me keep Rowan and Griffin forever?"

Owen's gaze deepened.

The answer was obvious: impossible.

Allowing Cecily to take the children for a few years was one thing, but the Fitzgerald family's descendants could not be left outside forever. Eventually, he would take the children back to the Fitzgerald family.

At that time, Owen might arrange for Darian to marry another woman, making her the mother of the two children.

"The answer is pretty clear, so I'm back. Darian and I have kids together, we have feelings for each other, and we're connected. The Bennett family won't give up the two children, and neither will the Fitzgerald family. So, me and Darian together is the best solution for everyone." After speaking, Cecily smiled sincerely.

"Just because of your mother's actions, I will never allow you two to be together," Owen said decisively.

"Besides that, do you have any other reasons for not allowing us to be together?" Cecily looked calmly at Owen, as if challenging him to list all his reasons for opposing their union.

"Your presence has greatly affected Darian's ability to think clearly. He has repeatedly done extraordinary things for you. A year ago, he even gave you his cornea. Do you think I should let you stay by his side, not only affecting his judgment but also becoming his weakness? If he were your grandson, would you allow someone like you to be in his life?"

Cecily nodded calmly. "In other words, you think Darian loves me too much, and because of that love, he has lost his mind. That's what you can't accept. Let's put it another way. You force Darian to marry a woman he doesn't love, and force my children to call another woman 'mother.' They live in resentment and misery. Is that what you want to see?"

Owen's eyes darkened. "That's none of your concern. I have my ways."

Cecily pressed her lips together and smiled lightly. "No matter what ways you have, Owen, I must remind you that a harmonious family brings prosperity."

"A harmonious family? Hmm, our family was destroyed by your mother, and you talk to me about harmony and prosperity?"

Hearing Owen's barbed words, Cecily continued, "That's also what I came to talk to you about today."

Owen's gaze grew even darker. "What do you mean?"

Cecily glanced around. Victor and Aurelia were walking towards the living room.

"This matter can't be known by too many people for now." Cecily's caution was understandable. After all, when Patrick died, it was Josep's family who directly benefited.

Owen said, "You can say it right here. There are no outsiders."

"It concerns Mr. Patrick's car accident. Please, let's speak in private."

Hearing about the accident, Owen's heart clenched again.

In the study, with the door closed, Owen's voice was cold. "Now you can speak." He wanted to see what she had to say with all this secrecy.

Cecily took something out of her bag.

Owen's eyes narrowed. "What is this?"

"That car accident years ago wasn't an accident; it was deliberate."
