Chapter378 Darian Suspected He Had Been Mad
Cecily tilted her head, casting a puzzled glance at the police officer. As she withdrew her gaze, she caught sight of Rowan and Griffin peeking out from the room, a mischievous smile playing on their lips.
Her lips curled knowingly. Her two dear children had done exactly what she had wanted.
"Did you call the police?" Darian frowned.
Cecily, not wanting to engage with him, responded to the officers downstairs, "Yes, I called the police."
The police quickly approached, and Cecily pointed to the person on the ground. "This person broke into my house and stole my belongings. I've already subdued her. Please take her away."
The officers glanced at Freya on the floor and then averted their eyes.
Cecily gave a signal to a servant, who promptly stepped forward to adjust Freya's dress.
Freya struggled to get up from the floor. Seeing the police, she quickly grabbed one of their arms. "You came just in time. She broke into the house and tried to kill me, pushing me down the stairs."
The police, noticing Freya's disheveled state, turned to Cecily. "Did you push her down?"
"I did." Cecily nodded. "She stole from me. Should I have just let her walk away with my things?"
"I didn't steal anything. She's lying." Freya cried, her eyes red. "Everyone saw her push me down. Officers, please help me. Darian, you have to help me. She entered your house without your permission and pushed me down. Darian, you all saw it!"
Cecily let out a cold laugh, remaining silent as she stared at Freya.
The police hesitated and then looked at Darian. "Mr. Fitzgerald, is what this lady said true?"
Darian's expression was tense, his tightly pressed lips revealing his anger. "Yes."
"You see, officers, I'm not lying." Freya sobbed, her tears making her look pitiful and heart-wrenching.
Cecily chuckled, glancing sideways to meet Darian's deep gaze.
Larkin stood behind Darian, observing the situation and realizing that Darian was unaware he had transferred the villa into Cecily's name. He quickly stepped forward. "Boss..."
Before he could finish, Darian had lost his patience with the night's farce and simply said, "You handle it." He then walked away.
As Darian passed by Cecily, she grabbed his arm. With a slight lift of her lips, she said, "You might want to stay for the rest."
Darian warned sternly, "The fact that I haven't thrown you out immediately is already a great mercy."
Cecily smiled. "I just think it's better if you stay. You might remember something you forgot."
Darian's eyes grew colder.
Cecily's curiosity was piqued; she wanted to see Darian's reaction later.
She walked towards the room.
Freya, wiping her tears, cried out, "Officers, she's trying to run. Catch her!"
Cecily entered the room and quickly returned with a property deed.
Freya looked at Cecily in confusion. "What are you doing now? Not only did you break into the house, but you're also rummaging through things? You're too arrogant."
Cecily handed the property deed to the police.
The officer took a look, and Cecily handed over her ID. "This is my ID."
Freya stared blankly at Cecily's series of actions, completely bewildered.
After examining the documents, the police officer's attitude towards Cecily changed entirely. He returned the ID and property deed to her, saying, "Alright, we understand now."
"Then please take her away," Cecily requested.
The officer nodded, placing a hand on Freya's shoulder and cuffing her. "Please come with us to the station."
"Why?" Freya's expression changed dramatically.
"Miss Watson is the owner of this villa. She accuses you of trespassing and theft. Please cooperate with our investigation," the officer said calmly, his tone strictly professional.
Freya glanced at the property deed in Cecily's hand, her face filled with disbelief. "Impossible, this is slander. I didn't break in or steal anything."
Cecily stepped forward, lifting the diamond necklace from Freya's neck, her eyes cold and mocking. "Do you think that just because you wear something, it belongs to you?"
Freya's face turned pale with fear. She had been so busy showing off to Cecily that she had forgotten she was still wearing the necklace she had taken from the drawer.
"I..." Freya opened her mouth to speak, but with the necklace right there on her neck, she had no defense to offer.
Cecily gazed at the necklace and said softly, "This necklace was in my cabinet; it's a birthday gift from my mother, costing eleven million dollars. Stealing property worth eleven million dollars, how many years would she spend in the jail?"
"The exact punishment will be determined by the court, but for such a large amount, it will certainly be severe," the officer replied truthfully.
Cecily smiled and nodded. "Alright, that puts my mind at ease."
Freya's face turned ashen, and her legs gave way beneath her. "I didn't steal it. I just wanted to try it on. I saw it was beautiful and wanted to try it on. That doesn't count as stealing."
"Doesn't count as stealing?" Cecily found it amusing. "Did I give you permission to enter my room? Did I give you permission to go through my drawers? Did I give you permission to wear it?"
Freya stammered, "I..."
Cecily shrugged lightly. "Entering the owner's room without permission, rummaging through their belongings, and claiming them as your own doesn't count as stealing? Then what does?"
"I didn't, Darian, help me, Darian..."
Darian watched coldly, his expression indifferent, showing no intention of helping.
Freya was dragged out by the police.
The noise ceased, and everything seemed to return to calm, but Cecily knew it hadn't.
She glanced at Darian, thoroughly annoyed, and slapped the property deed into his chest. "Come in, we need to talk."
Darian frowned, opening the deed and glancing at it. "Larkin!"
"Boss..." Larkin shivered. "Boss, I was just about to tell you, that this villa is currently under Miss Watson's name."
Darian's frown deepened. "When did this happen?"
Larkin said, "About a year ago. You personally gave it to Miss Watson. Besides that, all your assets, except for your shares in Fitzgerald Group, were given to Miss Watson."
Darian's expression changed again as he looked deeply at Larkin.
Seeing Darian's furrowed brow and thoughtful expression, Larkin thought he might be remembering something.
"Boss, are you alright?" Tentatively, Larkin asked, and in his nervousness, he saw Darian close the property deed and ask, "Was I mad before?"
