Chapter 8
Cecily glared at him furiously, yet she was utterly helpless against him.
In the end, Darian took her back.
Griffin had hacked into the hospital's surveillance and watched the entire scene unfold. His small fists were tightly clenched.
That bad daddy dared to treat his mommy like that; he was done for!
Cecily was brought back to Darian's villa. The disparity in strength between men and women was evident, and since her hands were bound, Cecily could not resist.
Once they were back in the room, Darian unceremoniously threw Cecily onto the floor. Fortunately, the thick carpet cushioned her fall, so she wasn't hurt much.
Darian looked down at Cecily, who wore an expression of unyielding defiance.
"Darian, what exactly do you want since you brought me back? If you want me to treat your illness, you can forget about it."
Darian squatted in front of her, gripping her chin with one hand, and coldly sneered, "Don't worry, I'm not foolish enough to put my life in your hands."
As soon as he finished speaking, a meticulously dressed woman walked in from outside.
Ophelia had heard that Darian had brought a woman back, and she immediately thought of Cecily.
She followed with a sense of trepidation, and although she had mentally prepared herself, seeing Cecily's face still filled her with unease and panic.
"Darian," Ophelia called out softly, walking over to him and naturally linking her arm with his. Her gaze shifted to Cecily, and she feigned surprise and covered her mouth. "Miss Watson, aren't you supposed to be dead? How come..."
Cecily's eyes unmistakably flared with hatred when she saw Ophelia.
They had met again after five years!
She couldn't forget what Darian had told her five years ago—that Ophelia had once drugged her drink.
Ophelia had only pretended to be innocent in front of Darian, but in reality, she was ruthless and unscrupulous.
Ophelia feigned confusion. "Darian, what is going on? Why did you bring Miss Watson back?"
Darian coldly replied, "She owes you a life; she should atone for it."
A trace of smugness appeared in Ophelia's eyes when she heard Darian say that.
So he had brought Cecily back to avenge her dead child?
"Darian, thank you. I thought you had forgotten about that child. I didn't expect you to remember," Ophelia said with a face full of gratitude, casting a covertly provocative glance at Cecily.
Cecily gritted her teeth in anger, wishing she could strangle them.
However, there was one thing she still couldn't figure out—she didn't know who had caused Ophelia to lose her child and then framed her for it!
Outside, Griffin kept peeking in. When he saw Cecily bound and thrown on the floor, his anger rose steadily.
Griffin took his computer back to his room and quickly sent a message to Rowan. Then, his fingers flew over the keyboard. Five minutes later, he smiled and pressed the confirm key.
Suddenly, the entire villa was plunged into darkness.
Everyone in the room looked up instinctively. Ophelia, frightened, rushed into Darian's arms. "Darian, what's happening? Is it a power outage?"
Darian wanted to check on Cecily, but Ophelia was holding him back, so he had to comfort her first. "Don't be afraid."
Cecily's eyes flickered. Taking advantage of the darkness, she seized the opportunity to grab a nearby fruit knife and cut the bindings on her hands.
Larkin came over with a flashlight. "Boss."
Darian frowned deeply. "What's going on?"
"Someone attacked our power system. I've already sent people to fix it."
"A hacker?"
Larkin nodded. "Boss, they might have other objectives. You and Mrs. Flores should move to a safer place immediately."
Darian's expression turned icy. Someone had dared to cause trouble here! He pushed Ophelia away and said in a deep voice, "Find someone to protect her, and ensure Little Rowan's safety too."
"Yes."
Ophelia continued to cling to Darian. "Darian, can you stay with me? I'm scared."
Darian turned to look at Cecily, but when he did, she was no longer there. The only thing left on the floor was the cut tie.
Darian grabbed the flashlight from Larkin and walked around the room. He noticed the open door.
Had Cecily taken advantage of the chaos to escape?
"Cecily has escaped. Send some people to find her."
Larkin glanced at the floor, his face stiffening. "Yes, I'll send someone immediately."
They quickly left, and once the sound of their footsteps faded, Cecily crawled out from under the tablecloth.
"Mommy?"
"Who?"
Griffin shone a small flashlight on Cecily. "It's me, Griffin."
Griffin ran excitedly toward Cecily.
Cecily couldn't believe her eyes when she saw Griffin. "Griffin, how did you get here? Did you cause the power outage?"
"It was me. Wasn't it awesome? Didn't I do a good job, Mommy?"
"Amazing," Cecily said, then quickly added, "No, wait. This place is too dangerous. Did anyone see you when you came in?"
"No one saw me, Mommy, let's go quickly!" Griffin was anxious. He was worried that they would be in big trouble if Darian found them again!
Cecily didn't delay and nodded quickly. "Alright!"
She had only taken a few steps when her expression darkened again.
"Mommy, what's wrong?"
"Right now, the place is surely on high alert, and they'll be looking for me everywhere! It will be very difficult for us to get out." Cecily shook her head.
If they tried to leave now, Darian might catch her red-handed! If he caught her again, she couldn't imagine the consequences!
