Chapter 363 The Debt to Cecily, Repaid
"Owen, if Cecily really had plans to deceive Darian for his corneas, would she have been treated so harshly by your family back then?"
Though Vivienne had said nothing before, it didn't mean she was unaware. She now knew clearly how the Fitzgerald family had treated Cecily back then. Her heart ached, and she was undoubtedly furious.
Owen scoffed, "Enough talk. None of you are good people."
Vivienne's eyes turned icy, filled with a blizzard of emotions. "Owen, you can hate me and say whatever you want about me, but keep your mouth clean when it comes to my daughter. She hasn't done anything wrong and hasn't wronged anyone in the Fitzgerald family. You have no right to insult her."
Everything else could be tolerated, but Cecily was Vivienne's bottom line. She would not allow anyone to harm her daughter in the slightest.
At this moment, Owen only knew that Darian was infatuated with Cecily, to the point of forsaking everything for her.
Had he known it would come to this, he would never have placed Cecily by Darian's side, leading to such a result. Owen was filled with regret.
Sandra was the last to receive the news and arrive. Her face was full of urgency. "Dad, where is Darian? Where is he?"
Just then, the door to the operating room opened, and the doctor emerged.
The doctor was startled by the crowd at the door.
A group of people stood outside, even Henry was there.
Everyone held their breath, waiting for the doctor to speak.
Owen had already guessed the outcome and was too despairing to even ask.
The doctor paused, feeling the pressure of their gazes, and finally spoke. "The surgery is over."
"Darian, my son," Sandra's lips trembled a few times, her breath caught in her throat, almost fainting from shock.
Declan's eyes tightened. "Aunt!"
Owen also bowed his head deeply, his eyes filled with unending despair.
It was too late.
Darian was truly ruined by Cecily.
Cecily was brought out first, lying quietly on the hospital bed, her eyes wrapped in medical gauze. She hadn't woken up yet due to the anesthesia.
Aurelie, with red eyes, approached. "Cecily?"
The doctor reminded, "She will wake up once the anesthesia wears off."
Aurelie nodded. "Alright."
"Gary, go and bring your sister over," Vivienne said, looking at Cecily lying on the bed, her expression complex.
Without a word, Gary stepped forward and picked up Cecily.
Vivienne, unhurriedly, said to Owen, "I came today to take my daughter away. I'm taking her now. Please tell Darian when he wakes up that everything he owes Cecily is repaid from today."
These were Cecily's words for Vivienne to convey.
Owen gritted his teeth in anger, "You got what you wanted and now you're running away?"
Vivienne didn't explain any further. Everything would be clear when Darian came out.
She looked at Cecily in Gary's arms with a pained expression.
Her daughter was the most foolish one of all.
"Let's go." Vivienne ignored everyone else and turned to leave with Cecily.
"Don't let them leave, stop them." Owen's face was dark, and he gritted his teeth fiercely.
Blaise walked a few steps towards Vivienne, slowly and deliberately, and glanced at the people surrounding them. "I'd like to see who can stop us."
Vivienne glanced back and said to Gary, "Go."
Without any hesitation, they left quickly with Cecily.
Owen's chest heaved violently, his heart aching beyond measure. Darian's cornea had been given to Cecily, and now the Bennett family had come to take Cecily away. It was utterly laughable.
The atmosphere was unbearably heavy.
Owen staggered, nearly falling.
Hayden was closest to Mr. Fitzgerald and quickly reached out to support him. "Grandpa Owen, are you alright?"
"My grandson is blind; how could I be alright?" Owen's eyes were filled with pain.
Hayden lowered his gaze. He had previously said that once Darian fell in love with Cecily, he would regret his past actions.
Now, Darian truly regretted it.
So, to make amends to Cecily, he had given everything he had to repay her.
Aurelie watched as Vivienne took Cecily away, finally feeling a sense of relief. When she turned back, Nathaniel, who had been lazily standing behind her watching the scene, was nowhere to be found.
Aurelie's eyes flickered, and she hurriedly chased after him.
At the hospital entrance, Aurelie caught up with Nathaniel.
"Nathaniel, wait."
Nathaniel paused as he reached for the car door handle and turned to look at her.
Meeting his inscrutable gaze, Aurelie felt a pang of guilt.
"Do you still want to discuss how to conceive without sperm?"
"Sorry, at that time..."
Nathaniel looked at her flushed earlobes and smiled. "It was an emergency, right?" His tone was unreadable.
Aurelie pouted. "Yes."
He leaned against the car, a smile playing on his lips, his eyes teasing. "What if someone took you seriously? Or have you already decided to have my child?"
Aurelie's hand tightened unconsciously at her side.
Nathaniel leaned in closer. "Answer me."
As he drew near, she caught a faint scent of his cologne, not overpowering, but noticeable.
Frowning slightly, Aurelie lifted her head and looked at him defiantly. The words she had rehearsed in her mind spilled out in a moment of heat. "If you want, I'll give you one."
Nathaniel looked into Aurelie's eyes, which seemed to reflect someone else. Aurelie didn't notice any unusual emotions in his eyes, and she mimicked his tone by dragging her voice.
Receiving no response, Aurelie tilted her head slightly.
Nathaniel pulled her into his arms, his eyes narrowing. "Do you really want to be with me?"
"Yes."
"I'm not a good person."
"That's perfect; I like bad boys."
Nathaniel chuckled. "Then let's give it a try."
Aurelie's heart skipped a beat. Everything happened so suddenly that she stood there, stunned.
"What? Are you regretting it now?"
Aurelie curved her lips into a smile, as radiant as the morning sun. "No regrets. So, am I now your..."
"Girlfriend."
Aurelie looked at him, her heart racing. She threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him tightly. She happily agreed.
Caught off guard, Nathaniel leaned forward slightly.
"Now that we're in a relationship, please remember to take me to any parties you attend, so other women don't keep flocking around you," Aurelie said playfully.
Nathaniel pulled her out of his embrace. "Are you jealous?"
Aurelie raised an eyebrow noncommittally.
Nathaniel smiled, unbuttoned his black shirt, and took it off.
