Chapter 324 She Still Went
Cecily raised an eyebrow and lifted her arms. Matthias was about to make a move when Cecily coldly said, "Please mind your manners."
Matthias sneered and waved his hand, and a woman got out of the car. She stepped forward, "Excuse me." She reached out and searched Cecily, taking out a phone, a folding knife, and an open voice recorder from her pockets.
Matthias picked up the voice recorder and looked at Cecily with a cold expression, "You still want to play tricks on us?"
"I just brought it casually," Cecily said calmly.
Matthias glanced at the female subordinate, "Is there anything else?"
"Matthias, that's all, nothing else."
Matthias threw all of Cecily's belongings away and said, "Miss Cecily, let's go."
Cecily lowered her eyebrows and smiled. She deliberately brought the voice recorder, intending for them to find it and lower their guard. If they found nothing, their attention would focus on other items on her. If they found something, they would let their guard down.
Cecily walked toward their car. Suddenly, her neck was struck with a hand chop. In her peripheral vision, she saw someone next to her raise their hand, but she didn't dodge and pretended to faint. She knew she was taking a risk. But she had to gamble this time. People only completely let their guard down when they think they have the upper hand. She not only wanted to save Vincent but also wanted to resolve this matter quickly. She didn't have time to drag it out. She was still a suspect in stabbing Sandra, and if it weren't for Darian vouching for her, she would have already been sent to court with clear evidence and motive. Everything needed a resolution.
At that moment, Darian was still at the Fitzgerald family estate. Eliza called Owen to get Darian away. Owen didn't know what she wanted to do, but as long as she didn't harm the Fitzgerald family, he was willing to help her.
At that moment, Owen saw Darian frequently looking at his phone. Although he was forced to play chess with him, his mind was clearly elsewhere. "I heard you haven't been to the company these past few days?" Owen asked in a deep voice.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Something came up," Darian replied.
"Is that 'something' staying with and accompanying Cecily?" Owen's voice grew more serious.
Darian didn't reply.
"You are becoming more and more outrageous. When your father was in charge of the company, he wished he could stay there every day. And you? Now, you only think about Cecily. You keep breaking the rules for her. What are you trying to do? Do you still want to be the heir?"
Mentioning Patrick, Darian's eyes grew darker, "Since you mentioned my father, tell me about him."
Owen didn't expect Darian to say that suddenly. After a brief pause, he asked, "What do you want me to tell you about your father?"
Darian picked up a black chess piece and placed it down, "Start from the day he had the car accident."
Owen was startled. After Patrick left, no one in the Fitzgerald family mentioned it again. Darian never brought it up, either. He deliberately mentioned it, and Owen frowned, "Have you heard something recently?"
"I heard some nonsensical things that have puzzled me for days. I wonder if you can help clarify them."
Owen picked up a white chess piece and placed it on the board, his entire demeanor becoming somber. For a moment, the atmosphere was silent.
"Go ahead."
Darian placed another black piece and said, "Vivienne killed my father."
Owen immediately looked up, "Who told you that?"
"Grandpa, you just need to tell me if it's true and provide evidence to convince me. Why ask so many questions?"
Owen was silent for a few more seconds, his brows tightly furrowed. After a long sigh, he slowly said, "You were young back then and had just taken over the Fitzgerald Group. I didn't want to tell you these things, fearing you'd be consumed by hatred like me. But since you already know, there's no need to hide it anymore. No matter where you heard it, I'm telling you now, it's true."
Darian's grip on the black chess piece tightened.
"Vivienne, Cecily's mother, killed your father. Your father wouldn't have left us if it weren't for her. You wouldn't have lost your father, I wouldn't have lost my most proud son, and your mother wouldn't have fallen down the stairs in grief upon hearing of your father's death, leading to a lifetime in a wheelchair. The Fitzgerald family's sorrow was all caused by Vivienne. That's why I've always stopped you from being with Cecily."
Owen finally revealed the words he had kept inside for so long to Darian. He felt a sense of relief and continued, "Darian, now that you know, you should wake up."
"Where's the evidence?" Darian asked in a deep voice.
"Evidence? Do you think I'm making this up to falsely accuse her?"
Darian didn't speak, his handsome face tense. At that moment, Darian's phone rang. He glanced at it; it was Larkin.
He answered, "What's up?"
Larkin said, "Boss, Miss Cecily ran away."
Darian immediately stood up, "You didn't keep an eye on her?"
"Boss, it's my fault. Miss Cecily said she wanted to go upstairs for a nap. I didn't follow her. Then she found a rope, tied it, and climbed out of the second-floor window. We've sent people to chase her, but we only found her car, not her."
Darian frowned deeply. She still went. Vincent was so important to her that she was willing to put herself in danger.
Darian was furious, "Check the surveillance and find her."
"We've already checked. Miss Cecily deliberately parked in a place with surveillance. We saw her being taken away by a black car in the footage. We're checking the license plate now."
Larkin dared not slack off and immediately searched for her as quickly as possible.
"Notify me as soon as you have results."
"Is it about Cecily again?" Owen also stood up, his stern eyes narrowing, "Did I just say all that for nothing? Are you still going to care about her?"
"She's my wife."
"She's not!" Owen said sternly.
"She is," Darian said firmly.
"Have you lost your mind? You're divorced, divorced, do you understand? She's still Vivienne's daughter, the daughter of the person who killed your father!"
Owen looked at Darian with extreme disappointment. Darian didn't have time to argue with Owen and strode out.
"Darian!" Owen wanted to chase after him, but he was old and had trouble walking, unable to catch up with Darian. He could only clutch his chest and gasp for breath.
"Dad, what's wrong?" Josep hurried over to support Owen.
"Get out! All of you, get out," Owen roared.
Josep inexplicably bore Owen's anger, a shadow briefly crossing his face.
After an unknown amount of time, Cecily woke up in a bright room. She slowly opened her eyes and felt the cold touch on her neck. She knew her necklace was still there.
