Chapter 405 Let's Talk About Our Past
Vivienne understood everything from his silence and hung up the phone directly.
She was furious, but something felt off. She knew Cecily well; if she had agreed to stay with her, she wouldn't suddenly go back to Darian.
Besides, she had gone to the Fitzgerald Manor today, so something must have happened.
Vivienne stood up, planning to instruct the servant to prepare the car. After a moment's thought, she stopped. Darian said she was already asleep, so the issue was probably resolved.
Looking at the time, Vivienne decided against going to pick them up.
'Forget it. With Darian there, nothing major would happen,' Vivienne thought to herself.
She stepped upstairs when a bodyguard came in and reported, "Madam, Mr. Whitaker is here. He has been waiting outside for you."
Vivienne wanted to laugh. "If he had known it would turn out like this, why did he act that way before?"
"I won't see him," Vivienne said without hesitation.
"But Mr. Whitaker has been waiting for five hours. He won't leave without seeing you."
Vivienne's eyes were cold. "If he wants to wait, so be it."
The bodyguard, hearing Vivienne's words, didn't say anything more.
After a commotion, the Fitzgerald Manor finally returned to peace.
Victor was sent to the hospital, and Aurelia was scared out of her wits. Not just Aurelia, Freya, and Jennifer were also in a daze when they came out.
Seeing Freya's silence, Jennifer thought she was frightened by the night's events. "Freya, are you okay?"
Freya shook her head.
"Are you scared? I didn't expect Darian to protect Cecily so much. Tonight was really dangerous. If you're scared, stop pursuing Darian anymore. I'm really afraid."
"No." Freya turned to Jennifer, her eyes more determined than before. "Mom, I won't give up. I must become the only woman by Darian's side. No one can stop me."
Freya had seen how Darian cared for a woman today. She dreamed of being the woman Darian cherished and protected.
So she would never give up.
Seeing Freya's determination, Jennifer became worried.
Darian was so ruthless, even towards his own brothers. If he discovered that it was Freya who had orchestrated tonight's events, she couldn't even imagine whether they could leave the Fitzgerald Manor safely.
Darian was different from Bryan. Bryan had always been lenient because of the life-saving grace she had given him years ago.
He was very caring towards Freya, giving her all the love he had for the child Vivienne aborted.
But Darian was different. They meant nothing to him. If they touched someone or something he cared about, they wouldn't have a good time.
Jennifer was really worried.
"Mom, what's wrong? By the way, Dad really wants us to go back to Riverview. Mom, think of something. We can't go back, or I'll have no chance at all."
"Your dad gave us some time to arrange things. We have a few days. Let's think of something."
Freya gritted her teeth and said, "Anyway, I will never go back to Riverview."
The next morning, Cecily was half-asleep when she heard a phone ringing by her ear.
Following the sound, Cecily fumbled for her phone on the bedside table, grabbed it, and answered.
Her lazy voice still carried a hint of sleepiness. "Mom."
"Are you awake?"
"Yes, what's up?"
"Where did you sleep last night?"
"I was..." Cecily's brain froze for a moment. She moved slightly, and the soreness in her body made her stiffen instantly.
Then she realized she was still lying in Darian's arms, feeling the warmth of a broad back.
She blinked, and the madness of last night flooded back into her mind.
The memories played like slow-motion scenes in her head, and everything in the room reminded her of last night's craziness.
Last night, she had hugged and kissed Darian, eagerly trying to take off his clothes. They had entangled crazily, and she had even asked Darian to sleep with her!
Cecily closed her eyes tightly, her cheeks flushing with heat.
She had acted like a desperate woman last night.
Cecily covered her face, not knowing how to answer Vivienne's question.
Sensing the movement beside him, Darian opened his eyes and saw Cecily. He reached out and pulled her back into his arms. "You're awake."
Cecily was startled and quickly covered Darian's mouth.
But Vivienne had obviously heard.
An awkward silence ensued.
Vivienne spoke, "Come back later, and bring Darian with you."
Cecily closed her eyes and bit her lip hard before agreeing.
Darian chuckled and buried his face into her soft, fragrant neck. "Don't be nervous. Your mother knew last night."
"What?"
"She called, and I answered." Darian chuckled lightly.
"What did she say?"
"She told me not to do anything inappropriate to you."
Cecily's mouth twitched. "What did you say?"
"I said you were the one who pounced on me."
Cecily looked at him, remembering last night's events, and blushed. "I was drugged by them last night, so I acted that way.."
Darian chuckled, his head buried in her neck, and responded in a muffled voice.
"I'm not usually that desperate."
Upon hearing her mumbling explanation, Darian's smile deepened. "What was our relationship like before? Were we loving? Did we fight?"
